Vulnerable children from poor communities with high HIV and Tuberculosis(TB) burdens were impacted by COVID-19 lockdowns. Concern was raised about the extent of this impact and anticipated post-pandemic surges in mortality. Interrupted time series segmented regression analyses were done using routinely collected facility-level data of children admitted for medical conditions at four South African referral hospitals.

Torsemide is a loop diuretic used to manage edema associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and acute kidney injury (AKI). It acts by inhibiting sodium and chloride ions reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, thereby increasing urine output and reducing fluid accumulation. Compared to other diuretics, torsemide has an extended duration of action, higher bioavailability, and its elimination route is primarily through the hepatic route, making it effective in patients with CKD and AKI.

Cervical cytology abnormalities and associated genotype patterns of High-Risk HPV Infection in Women of Tripura, North-East India: A Hospital-Based Study.

The current study explored HPV prevalence and age variation in cervical samples of different cytological categories and HPV types from women seeking gynecological care in Tripura, northeast India. Pap smears, cervical tissues, and HPV/DNA specimens were collected from gynecological outpatient departments (OPD) or in-house patients and were screened for HPV16, HPV18, and other HPV types by PCR. Finally, logistic regression was performed to find the association between epidemiologic factors and HPV infection in women of different cytological grades.

Duverney's Fracture Fixed by Skiver Screw in a Skeletally Immature Patient: A Case Report.

Duverney's fracture, an eponym for isolated iliac wing fracture, is rather an uncommon fracture in the subset of pelvic ring fracture in the AO/OTA (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopaedic Trauma Association) classification. Here, we discuss a more unique case with Duverney's fracture since the patient is a 15-year-old school-going girl with unfused physis of the ilium. After other injuries were ruled out, she underwent open reduction and fixation with a screw by the Skiver method augmented with the plate.

Background: When applying lung-protective ventilation, fluid responsiveness cannot be predicted by pulse pressure variation (PPV) or stroke volume variation (SVV). Functional hemodynamic testing may help address this limitation. This study examined whether changes in dynamic indices such as PPV and SVV, induced by tidal volume challenge (TVC), can reliably predict fluid responsiveness in patients undergoing renal transplantation who receive lung-protective ventilation.
