Novel spiro[indoline-3,2'thiazolo[5,4-e]pyrimido[1,2-a] pyrimidine] derivatives as possible anti-dermatophytic and anti-candidiasis agent.

A novel series of 5'-benzylidene-3'-phenylspiro[indoline-3,2'-thiazolidine]-2,4'(1H)-diones 6a-d and spiro[indoline-3,2'-thiazolo[5,4-e]pyrimido[1,2-a]pyrimidin]-2(1H)-one 9a-d derivatives have been synthesized. All the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for antifungal and anti-candidiasis activity by using Disc Diffusion and Modified Microdilution methods. The antimicrobial experiments have shown that the synthesized compounds demonstrated broad-spectrum antifungal activity in vitro.

Backgrounds/aims: Pancreaticoduodenectomy is the most common procedure for the management of duodenal pathologies. However, it is associated with substantial morbidity and a low risk of mortality. Pancreas-preserving limited duodenal resection (PPLDR) can be performed under specific scenarios.

Comparison of Tamoxifen and Clomiphene Citrate for Ovulation Induction in Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Prospective Study.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of tamoxifen and clomiphene citrate in induction of ovulation in women with PCOS and anovulation.

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 104 women with PCOS and primary infertility were enrolled after fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The patients were allocated in two groups; group A (n=54) received tamoxifen 40 once daily (Days 3-7) and group B (n=50) received clomiphene citrate 100 once daily (Days 3-7).

National guidelines for sanitation services: Addressing the unmet need of standardizing cleaning practices in tertiary care public health facilities of a developing country.

Background: Cleanliness is one of the main reasons for poor satisfaction among the patients and their attendants visiting healthcare facilities.

Objective: To elevate and transform the sanitation in public sector facilities, a committee was constituted by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to study the existing system of Housekeeping in Central Government Hospitals and draft the Guidelines for house-keeping services, since no such literature is available in context of the healthcare facilities in India.

Methods: The committee ascertained the housekeeping services in three tertiary care hospitals of Central Government and simultaneously conducted the literature review of the best practices in hospital sanitation and housekeeping.

A prospective randomized comparison of sexual function and semen analysis following laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) and transabdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) inguinal hernia repair.

Background: With standardization of laparoscopic technique of groin hernia repair, the focus of surgical outcome has shifted to lesser studied parameters like sexual function and fertility.

Methods: This prospective randomized study was conducted in a single surgical unit at a tertiary care hospital. A sample size of 144 was calculated with 72 in each group (Group 1 TEP and Group 2 TAPP).

Comparison of supraglottic devices i-gel(®) and LMA Fastrach(®) as conduit for endotracheal intubation.

Background And Aims: i-gel(®), a recently introduced supraglottic airway device (SAD) has been claimed to be an efficient supraglottic airway. It can also be used as a conduit for endotracheal intubation. However, LMA Fastrach(®) frequently used for this purpose; hence in this randomized study, success rate of blind tracheal intubation through two different SADs i-gel(®) and LMA Fastrach(®) was evaluated.
