Introduction: To accelerate healthcare transformation and advance health equity, scientists in learning health systems (LHSs) require ready access to integrated, comprehensive data that includes information on social determinants of health (SDOH).

Methods: We describe how an integrated delivery and finance system leveraged its learning ecosystem to advance health equity through (a) a cross-sector initiative to integrate healthcare and human services data for better meeting clients' holistic needs and (b) a system-level initiative to collect and use patient-reported SDOH data for connecting patients to needed resources.

Results: Through these initiatives, we strengthened our health system's capacity to meet diverse patient needs, address health disparities, and improve health outcomes.

Objectives: To study clinician perspectives on the feasibility of incorporating family planning services within office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) clinics. We sought to understand the unique facilitators of and barriers to the integration of contraceptive services within the OBAT model with a goal to support the design and implementation of a program tailored to meet the reproductive health needs of patients with substance use disorder.

Methods: After obtaining institutional review board approval, we conducted qualitative semistructured interviews with OBAT clinicians (registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and physicians) at a tertiary-care safety-net hospital.

Background Cardiovascular dysfunction and hypertension can persist postpartum following hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDPs). This study hypothesized that activin A, proinflammatory markers and concentric remodeling by echo would be higher 1-2 years postpartum following HDP with persistent hypertension compared to HDP with normalized blood pressure (BP). We further hypothesized correlations between biomarkers with BP and echocardiographic indices.

Objective: Tracking perinatal mood and anxiety disorders is championed by the American Psychiatric Association and the International Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health. We conducted this study to examine trajectories of monthly depressive and anxiety symptoms through pregnancy and postpartum.

Methods: This is a prospective longitudinal observational cohort study of pregnant women interviewed at baseline (≤18th gestational week), every four weeks through delivery and at 6 and 14 weeks postpartum at three urban academic medical centers ( = 85) and a single rural health center ( = 3) from 2016 to 2020.

Multicolor chromosome banding (mBAND) is a recently developed technique that allows the delineation of chromosomal regions with a resolution of a few megabase pairs. The resolution of mBAND is slightly below that of conventional chromosome banding; however, the color bands have a great value in identifying chromosomal abnormalities, particularly complex chromosome rearrangements, and intrachromosome exchanges (ie, inversions, deletions, duplications, and insertions). These abnormalities cannot be defined easily by conventional cytogenetic analysis or chromosome paint.

Preconception genetic counseling.

Clin Obstet Gynecol

December 1996

Department of Genetics, Magee-Womens Hospital Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213, USA.

The purpose of this chapter has not been to be all-inclusive, but to raise awareness of the benefits of preconception consultation in the prevention of birth defects. If there is to be a significant decrease in the incidence of congenital malformations, it will come only by intervention that occurs prior to organogenesis, and that opportunity is lost by the first prenatal visit. For the practitioner interested in a more in-depth analysis of the subject of preconception counseling, the two books listed as supplementary reading provide a wealth of information essential to the care of the patient planning a pregnancy.
