ALPPS in neuroendocrine liver metastases not amenable for conventional resection - lessons learned from an interim analysis of the International ALPPS Registry.

Background: Surgery is the most effective treatment option for neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELM). This study investigated the role of associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) as a novel strategy in treatment of NELM.

Methods: The International ALPPS Registry was reviewed to study patients who underwent ALPPS for NELM.

Background: Pancreatectomy for locally advanced adenocarcinoma affecting the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and superior mesenteric vein (SMV) is still under discussion [1]. However, in selected cases, in light of the advancement of recent neoadjuvant treatments, it must be taken into account [2,3]. This video demonstrates some of the technical aspects of SMA and SMV resection as well as some tips of vascular reconstruction.

Ex Situ Hepatectomy and Liver Autotransplantation for Cholangiocarcinoma.

Background: Hepatic resection of tumors invading the retrohepatic vena cava and hepatic veins are a challenge for surgeons, who consider them unresectable most of the time.1 2 Ex situ hepatectomy and liver autotransplantation has developed to improve resectability of these malignancies.3,4 METHODS: The patient was a 51-year-old man who had jaundice secondary to a intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma 7 cm in diameter in the right lobe of the liver and the caudate lobe.

First case of complete full robotic surgical resection of leiomyosarcoma of the right renal vein.

Background: Leiomyosarcomas present high postoperative morbidity and poor prognosis [1]. In the literature, only few cases of localized small leiomyosarcoma have been described [2, 3]. These cases might benefit from a minimally invasive approach.

First ALPPS procedure using a total robotic approach.

Background: ALPPS procedure is gaining interest. Indications and technical aspects of this technique are still under debate [1]. Only 4 totally laparoscopic ALPPS procedures have been described in the literature and none by robotic approach [2-4].

Robotic Liver Surgery: Early Experience From a Single Surgical Center.

Materials And Methods: It is a retrospective review of Sanchinarro University hospital experience of robotic liver resection performed from 2011 to 2014.

Is "small for size syndrome" a relatively new complication after the ALPPS procedure?

Aim of this study is to assess the incidence and outcome of small for size syndrome after ALPPS procedure. This novel procedure is claimed to induce accelerated and increased growth of future liver remnant after major hepatectomies. We prospectively collected data on nine consecutive patients undergoing ALPPS procedure at our center.

Arterial pseudoaneurysms following hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery: a single center experience.

Context: Arterial pseudoaneurysm is an uncommon lethal complication following hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery.
