Human health is being increasingly exposed to fluoride and nitrate ingestion globally due to anthropogenic alternations in groundwater resources. In the present research work, a hazard quotient (HQ), Monte Carlo simulation (MCS), and geographic information systems (GIS) have been used to estimate the non-carcinogenic health risk of nitrate and fluoride in vulnerable adults, teenagers, and children living in far-flung areas of Uttar Pradesh, Northern India. About 110 samples from some nearby populations were collected and analyzed for nitrates by ion chromatography and fluoride by a fluoride-selective electrode.

Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods have been widely used among researchers to provide a trade-off solution between best and worst, considering conflicting criteria and sets of preferences. An efficient and systematic literature review of these methods is needed to maintain their application in distinctive domains. To this end, this paper presents a comprehensive and systematic literature survey on "multi-objective optimization by ratio analysis" (MOORA) method and its fuzzy extensions developed and discussed in recent years.

Performances of Machine Learning Models for Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease.

Ann Data Sci

October 2022

Department of Pharmaceutical Science and Chinese Traditional Medicine, Southwest University, Chongqing, China.

In recent times, various machine learning approaches have been widely employed for effective diagnosis and prediction of diseases like cancer, thyroid, Covid-19, etc. Likewise, Alzheimer's (AD) is also one progressive malady that destroys memory and cognitive function over time. Unfortunately, there are no dedicated AI-based solutions for diagnoses of AD to go hand in hand with medical diagnosis, even though multiple factors contribute to the diagnosis, making AI a very viable supplementary diagnostic solution.

Momentous increase in the popularity of explainable machine learning models coupled with the dramatic increase in the use of synthetic data facilitates us to develop a cost-efficient machine learning model for fast intrusion detection and prevention at frontier areas using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The performance of any explainable machine learning model is driven by its hyperparameters. Several approaches have been developed and implemented successfully for optimising or tuning these hyperparameters for skillful predictions.

With changing lifestyles, the demand for bone implantation has been increasing day by day. The deficiency of nutritious elements within the human body results in certain diseases like osteoporosis, rickets, and other skeletal disorders; lack of physical activities; and the increasing number of accidents are the primary reasons for bone damage/fracture. Metallic implants made up of chrome steel, cobalt-based alloys, and titanium-based alloys are being majorly used worldwide owing to their high strength and high corrosion resistance which makes them permanent orthopedic bioimplant materials, however, they display a stress-shielding effect and it also requires an implant removal surgery.

January 2022

Department of Library and Information Science, Research and Development Center for Physical Education, Health, and Information Technology, Fu Jen Catholic University, New Taipei 242, Taiwan.

The dramatic increase in the computational facilities integrated with the explainable machine learning algorithms allows us to do fast intrusion detection and prevention at border areas using Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). This study proposed a novel approach to accurately predict the number of barriers required for fast intrusion detection and prevention. To do so, we extracted four features through Monte Carlo simulation: area of the Region of Interest (RoI), sensing range of the sensors, transmission range of the sensor, and the number of sensors.

Environment and Economy are the two important pillars of sustainability. In this paper, the economic viability and environmental impact of the novel greenhouse dryer with an evacuated solar collector are calculated. For this analysis, tomato is dried inside the dryer as it is a high moisture crop that requires a faster drying rate otherwise it starts giving a bad odor and gets contaminated.

This research paper aims at studying the impact of lockdown on the dynamics of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan city of China in December 2019. Perceiving the pandemic situation throughout the world, Government of India restricted international passenger traffic through land check post (Liang, 2020) and imposed complete lockdown in the country on 24 March 2020. To study the impact of lockdown on disease dynamics we consider a three-dimensional mathematical model using nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

Cholinesterase inhibitors (ChE-Is) are the standard for the therapy of AD associated disorders and are the only class of approved drugs by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Additionally, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is the target for many Alzheimer's dementia drugs which block the function of AChE but have some side effects. Therefore, in this paper, an attempt was made to elucidate cholinesterase inhibition potential of secondary metabolite from Cannabis plant which has negligible or no side effect.
