Purpose: We aim to compare interfragmentary compression with the position osteosynthesis in the fixation of different femoral neck fractures (FN) in synthetic bones subjected to vertical load.
Methods: Forty-two synthetic femurs were subjected to neck fractures and separated into 3 groups according to the Pauwels classification: Pauwels I had 6 units (PI); Pauwels II, 24 units, with and without comminution (PII); and Pauwels III, 12 units, with and without comminution (PIII). After, they were fixed with 2 different ways: three 7, 0 mm cannulated lag screws (CSs) versus three 6, 5 mm solid fully threaded screws (SSs).

Contradicting pediatric societies' recommendations, studies show that screen exposure begins at the first year of life for many children worldwide, with parental needs, educational purposes, and parental stress emerging as associated factors. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has likely worsened this scenario. This study aims to: 1) estimate the average daily screen exposure time for Brazilian infants aged 0-23 months during the COVID-19 pandemic based on caregiver report; 2) analyze the correlation between average exposure time, parental motivations for exposure, parental burnout levels and infant age; and 3) test the predictive role of parental motivations, burnout, and infant age on infant screen exposure.

The pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which is related to new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has mobilized several scientifics to explore clinical data using soft-computing approaches. In the context of machine learning, previous studies have explored supervised algorithms to predict and support diagnosis based on several clinical parameters from patients diagnosed with and without COVID-19. However, in most of them the decision is based on a "black-box" method, making it impossible to discover the variable relevance in decision making.

Background: One way to optimize the adoption and use of technological innovations is to understand how those involved perceive, assess and decide to use them. This study aims to analyze the attributes that influence the adoption and use of the Brazilian National Immunization Program Information System (NIPIS) from the perspective of vaccination room workers.
Methods: This is a mixed method research, and a quantitative cross-sectional analytical study, with concomitant triangulation of data, carried out in a region of Brazil by using the Diffusion of Innovation Theory.

Marine fish consumption is rising around the world due to the high quality of its nutritional components, including long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA), which are abundant and found as triacylglycerol (TAG) in the muscle and skin of Salmonidae family. Farm raised and wild species of Salmon have different diets, that directly influences their TAG composition. In this work, we demonstrate the evaluation of TAG composition of salmon species as an authenticity screening parameter.

The greater prevalence of mental health disorders among parents of children with ASD increases younger siblings' vulnerability to emotional problems. The aim of this study is to compare the interaction between carers and babies aged 2 to 26 months (M = 11.

We describe that vinyl-oxadiazoles function as a new and efficient nucleophilic partner for the Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) reaction. The reaction between 5-vinyl-3-aryl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles and aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, catalyzed by DABCO in the absence of solvent, showed high efficiency to afford a new class of heterocyclic MBH adducts with potential biological activity on yields up to 99% and short reaction times. These synthetically attractive adducts bear a heterocyclic scaffold of large pharmaceutical and commercial interest associated with a plethora of biological effects and technological applications.

The histological and molecular subtypes of breast cancer demand distinct therapeutic approaches. Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) is subtyped according to estrogen-receptor (ER), progesterone-receptor (PR), and HER2 status, among other markers. Desorption-electrospray-ionization-mass-spectrometry imaging (DESI-MSI) is an ambient-ionization MS technique that has been previously used to diagnose IDC.

Objectives: To investigate aquatic myofascial release (AMR) effects on flexibility and delayed onset muscle soreness, after high intensity exercises.
Study Design: 15 participants, control (CON) and intervention (INT), 3 moments, pre (Pre), after (Post) and 50 min after (Post 50/Post AMR). 6 exercises, 5 sets, 15 reps at 85% of 1 maximum repetition, followed, or not, by 50 min of AMR.

This data paper contains data related to a reproducibility test for running pacing strategy in an intermittent running test until exhaustion. Ten participants underwent a crossover study (test and retest) with an intermittent running test. The test was composed of three-minute sets (at 1 km/h above Onset Blood Lactate Accumulation) until volitional exhaustion.

This work describes the preparation of an electrochemical immunosensor for ethinylestradiol (EE2) based on grafting of diazonium salt of 4-aminobenzoic acid onto a glassy carbon electrode modified with silver nanoparticles/SiO2/graphene oxide hybrid followed by covalent binding of anti-ethinylestradiol (anti-EE2) to activated carboxyl groups. A competitive immunoassay was developed for the determination of the hormone using peroxidase-labeled ethinylestradiol (HRP-EE2) and measurement of the amperometric response at -200mV in the presence of hydroquinone (HQ) as redox mediator. The calibration curve for EE2 exhibited a linear range between 0.

Unlabelled: Mixed formula supplements are very popular among recreational and professional weightlifters. They are usually known as PAKs and they are supposed to have a synergistic effect of their different nutrients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of chronic (4 weeks) PAKS supplementation in combination with strength training on body composition, immune status and performance measures in recreationally trained individuals with or without PAKs supplementation.

Background: The effects of chronic aerobic exercise upon lipid profile has been previously demonstrated, but few studies showed this effect under resistance exercise conditions.
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of different resistance exercise loads on blood lipids.
Methods: Thirty healthy, untrained male volunteers were allocated randomly into four groups based at different percentages of one repetition maximum (1 RM); 50%-1 RM, 75%-1 RM, 90%-1 RM, and 110%-1 RM.
