To understand the infection status and genetic characteristics of from foodborne diseases in sentinel hospital of Ma'anshan city. The 911 stool samples and epidemiological data of the patients with foodborne disease were collected from three hospitals of Ma'anshan city during January 2015 to June 2018. The G Ⅰ and G Ⅱ were detected by real-time reverse transcription PCR.

The genus comprises a group of marine-dwelling species with worldwide distribution. Several species are regarded as causative agents of food spoilage and opportunistic pathogens of human diseases. In this study, a standard multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) based on six protein-coding genes (, , , , , and ) was established as a rapid and accurate identification tool in 59 type strains.

Objective: As a widespread toxic metal, arsenic had potential effect for hypertensive. We evaluated the association between urinary arsenic and the incidence of hypertension in adult residents along the Yangtze River of China.
Methods: We conducted the study of 1358 adults 18 to 74 years of age from Chizhou, Maanshan, and Tongling of Anhui province, who participated in the baseline study in 2014 to 2015.

The genus consists of facultatively anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria, which are regarded as potential agents of food contamination and opportunistic human pathogens. Information about the distribution and genetic characteristics of SXT/R391 integrative conjugative elements (ICEs) in species is limited. Here, 91 strains collected from diverse samples in China were studied for the presence of SXT/R391 ICEs.

Two strains of Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic short-rod bacteria were recovered from two different food samples in Ma'anshan city, Anhui province, China in 2008. The bacteria were characterized in a polyphasic taxonomic study that included phenotypic, phylogenetic and genotypic methodologies. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene demonstrated that the two strains belonged to the genus Proteus and were most similar to Proteus vulgaris ATCC 29905 with a score of 99.

Aim: The frailty index is used to measure the health status of older individuals. However, its association with self-neglect, social support and sociodemographic characteristics of older adults is underexplored. The purpose of the present study was to explore such associations among the rural older adults in Anhui Province of China, and to provide scientific evidence for policy-makers to improve the health and well-being of older adults in rural China.

Objectives: There is a paucity of epidemiological data on chronic pain and obesity among older adults. This study attempted to present the characterization of chronic pain and its association with obesity among the Chinese elderly.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was undertaken among 6524 elderly individuals aged ≥60 years in China.

A Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic bacillus, strain 08MAS2615, was isolated from the flesh of a pigeon specimen collected in Ma'anshan, Anhui province, China. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences confirmed that strain 08MAS2615 belonged to the genus Proteus, and formed an independent branch which was clearly separated from the other six known species of Proteus. Strain 08MAS2615 was more closely related to Proteus vulgaris ATCC 29905 and Proteus penneri NCTC 12737 than other Proteus species.

Two strains, 08MAS2251 and LZ2016-166, were isolated from diverse samples in China collected from the surface of crucian carp and the faeces of a diarrhoea patient, respectively. Both strains were pink-orange coloured, Gram-negative, oxidase- and catalase-positive, facultative anaerobic and motile bacteria, produced H2S and reduced nitrates to nitrites. Growth occurred in the presence of 0-9 % (w/v) NaCl and at 10-42 °C.

Background: Recently, Mycobacterial Interspersed Repetitive Unit (MIRU) was supposed to be associated with drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), but whether the association exists actually in local strains in China was still unknown. This research was conducted to explore that association and the predictability of MIRU to drug resistance of Tuberculosis (TB).

The present study was aimed at exploring the prevalence and factors associated with depressive symptoms among left-behind women in China. A sample of 938 participants (439 left-behind women and 499 non-left-behind women) was surveyed with self-rating questionnaire. The scores of depressive symptoms were higher in the left-behind women; and the overall prevalence of depressive symptoms was 34.

Aim: To investigate the seroprevalence and molecular characteristics of hepatitis E virus (HEV) in the illegal blood donors (IBDs) of central China in the early 1990s.
Methods: A total of 546 blood samples were collected from the IBDs in Maanshan city, a questionnaire was completed by each subject, detailing the age, sex, and periods of blood or plasma donation. Anhui Province and tested for the anti-HEV antibodies.
