Previous research suggests that emotional prosody perception is impaired in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD) and primary progressive aphasia (PPA). However, no previous research has investigated emotional prosody perception in these diseases under non-ideal listening conditions. We recruited 18 patients with AD, and 31 with PPA (nine logopenic (lvPPA); 11 nonfluent/agrammatic (nfvPPA) and 11 semantic (svPPA)), together with 24 healthy age-matched individuals.

Mycosis fungoides (MF) and Sézary syndrome (SS) are the most common subtypes of the heterogeneous group of cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL). With the expansion of the biologic treatment landscape, new treatment options have become available in recent years, most notably the C-C chemokine receptor 4 (CCR4)-directed monoclonal antibody mogamulizumab. Based on the phase III pivotal trial, mogamulizumab is recommended by the German S2k guidelines for the second-line treatment of stage IB and above SS and MF, after at least one prior systemic therapy.

Metastasis-directed therapy (MDT) for oligometastatic breast cancer (≤ 5 metastases) has shown little effect in specific scenarios of randomized trials. Therefore, we aimed to assess outcomes after metastasis-directed stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) in various clinical scenarios. We conducted an international retrospective cohort study in thirteen centers including breast cancer patients receiving SRT to any metastatic site.

Processing social feedback is essential for establishing appropriate social connections. However, social feedback is not always immediate, and the impact of waiting time on social feedback processing remains unexplored. Using electroencephalography (EEG) and event-related potentials (ERPs), the present study investigated how waiting time affects the N170, reward positivity (RewP), and P3.

Children and adults have been shown to benefit from sleep with regard to the consolidation of declarative memories. Especially during childhood, the generalisation of information from social and non-social contexts is important for adaptable behaviour in new situations and might show specific features in children. Here, we investigated whether adults (n = 18) and children (n = 19) differ in their generalisation of features assessed in wake and sleep conditions.

Background: Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common form of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. While multiple guidelines provide treatment recommendations, there are currently no clear treatment algorithms for MF. Chlormethine gel is recommended by major treatment guidelines as a first-line option for stage IA-IIA disease, and, on the basis of these guidelines, used in combination with other therapies in patients with advanced-stage MF in clinical practice.

Prolonged exposure of mammalian cells to hypotonic environments stimulates the development of sometimes large and numerous vacuoles of unknown origin. Here, we investigate the nature and formation of these vacuoles, which we term LateVacs. Vacuolation starts after osmotic cell swelling has subsided and continues for many hours thereafter.

The extent to which bullying victimization is associated with an increased risk of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has received little empirical attention. This longitudinal, population-based, genetically informative study examined whether self-reported bullying victimization at age 15 was associated with a clinical diagnosis of OCD in the Swedish National Patient Register and with self-reported obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) at ages 18 and 24 in 16,030 twins from the Child and Adolescent Twin Study in Sweden. Using a discordant twin design, including monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twins, each twin was compared with their co-twin, allowing a strict control of genetic and environmental confounding.

The circadian clock, a fundamental cellular mechanism, regulates the rhythmic expression of numerous genes and biological processes across various organs. Disruptions in this system, driven by genetic or environmental factors, have been reported to be involved in cancer progression. This review explores the role of the circadian clock in cancer hallmarks and its impact on cellular homeostasis within haematological malignancies.

Key Clinical Message: Not only germline but also postzygotic mutations in the or genes can lead to capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) syndrome. As it is not always possible to clinically distinguish between constitutional variants and postzygotic mosaicism, a sufficiently high sequencing depth must be used in genetic diagnostics to detect both.
Abstract: Capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) syndrome, with or without Parkes Weber syndrome, is a rare autosomal dominant disease caused by pathogenic or variants.

Volume-regulated anion channels (VRACs) formed by leucin-rich repeat containing 8 (LRRC8) proteins play a pivotal role in regulatory volume decrease by mediating the release of chloride and organic osmolytes. Apart from the regulation of cell volume, LRRC8/VRAC function underlies numerous physiological processes in vertebrate cells including membrane potential regulation, glutamate release and apoptosis. LRRC8/VRACs are also permeable to antibiotics and anti-cancer drugs, representing therefore important therapeutic targets.

In recent years, organised and competitive video gaming, esports, has gained enormous popularity in many parts of the world, contributing to the growing professionalisation of this sports branch. To become or remain a professional esports player, individuals practice video gaming for several hours a day while remaining in a sitting posture which may not only lead to a decrease in training quality in the short term (eg, due to cognitive fatigue) but also put them at a higher risk for negative health events in the long-term (eg, overuse injuries). Thus, interrupting periods of prolonged video gaming in a sitting posture with acute physical exercise is strongly recommended for esports players even though the optimal dosage of acute physical exercise breaks remains unclear.

Online test protocols are increasingly popular in psychological and neuroscientific research. Despite its relevance to the social functioning, the influence of acute stress on cognitive and affective state empathy is not clearly understood. Recently, a remote online version (TSST-OL) of the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) was established for use in research with both children and adults.
