Introduction: Pasireotide, a somatostatin receptor ligand, is approved for treating acromegaly and Cushing's disease (CD). Hyperglycemia during treatment can occur because of the drug's mechanism of action, although treatment discontinuation is rarely required. The prospective, randomized, Phase IV SOM230B2219 (NCT02060383) trial was designed to assess optimal management of pasireotide-associated hyperglycemia.

Background: Incidence of sternal dehiscence, wound infection, and mortality are prevalent following sternotomy. Bone wax is widely used over the sternal edges for augmenting hemostasis. This study evaluated the clinical equivalence of Truwax (Healthium Medtech Limited, Bengaluru, India) with Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States) bone wax for sternal wound hemostasis in subjects undergoing surgical procedures by sternotomy.

Background: Minimally invasive techniques of hematoma evacuation with or without the use of thrombolytic agents to lyse the clots have shown promising outcomes compared to open surgical evacuation. However, there is a dearth of literature in developing nations. The objective in this study was to evacuate spontaneous hypertensive basal ganglionic hemorrhages using computed tomography (CT)-guided catheter insertion, hematoma aspiration, and lysis with thrombolytic agents and analyze the efficacy and outcomes.

Purpose: Pasireotide is an effective treatment for acromegaly and Cushing's disease, although treatment-emergent hyperglycemia can occur. The objective of this study was to assess incretin-based therapy versus insulin for managing pasireotide-associated hyperglycemia uncontrolled by metformin/other permitted oral antidiabetic drugs.
Methods: Multicenter, randomized, open-label, Phase IV study comprising a core phase (≤ 16-week pre-randomization period followed by 16-week randomized treatment period) and optional extension (ClinicalTrials.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Childhood-asthma control test (C-ACT) and the Asthma therapy assessment questionnaire by (ATAQ) checking its consistency with Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) criteria.
Methods: Asthma control of 97 children was assessed using C-ACT, ATAQ and GINA criteria separately, and their results were compared.
Results: C-ACT had better performance for evaluating control as per GINA criteria with sensitivity of 48.

Vasoplegic syndrome is an unusual cause of refractory hypotension under general anesthesia. It is commonly described in the setting of cardiac surgery, but rarely seen in noncardiac setting. We describe successful management of vasoplegic syndrome during Whipple procedure with vasopressin infusion.

Background: Central venous catheters (CVCs) are inserted in many critically ill patients, but there is no gold standard in estimating their approximate depth of insertion. Many techniques have been described in literature. In this study, we compare the topographic method with the standard formula technique.

Context: To evaluate the additional information that susceptibility weighted sequences and datasets would provide in acute stroke.
Aims: The aim of this study were to assess the value addition of susceptibility weighted magnetic resonance imaging (SWI) of brain in patients with acute arterial infarct.
Materials And Methods: All patients referred for a complete brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) between March 2010 and March 2011 at our institution had SWI as part of routine MRI (T1, T2, and diffusion imaging).
Purpose: Epilepsy-related death, particularly sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), is underestimated by healthcare professionals. One argument that physicians use to justify the failure to discuss SUDEP with patients and their families is that there is a lack of evidence for any protective interventions. However, there is growing evidence of potentially modifiable risk factors for SUDEP; although large-scale trials of interventions are still lacking.

The management of a neonate with a known difficult airway is a challenge to any clinician. We report a four-day-old neonate with a known difficult airway, who presented to us for rigid bronchoscopy. We used an innovative, economical and easily available adult central venous line guidewire to secure the airway and reintubate the child.
