Disaster Management: Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior, Willingness, and Preparedness among Nigerian Dentists.

Objective: This study's objective was to explore the disaster management knowledge, attitude, behavior, willingness, and assistance among Nigerian dentists.

Methods: This cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted in Edo State (Nigeria) among selected Nigerian dentists that attended the Annual Scientific Conference of School of Dentistry, University of Benin (Benin City, Nigeria) between 2016 and 2017. The 54-item, modified Chhabra, et al disaster management questionnaire, which elicited information on demographic characteristics, disaster management knowledge, attitude, preparedness, and willingness, was the data collection tool.

Primarycare teams and recent experiments towards population coverage in India.

Many people in India, especially the poor, face the hurdle of seeking effective health care at an affordable cost, at a distance they can travel, and with the dignity they deserve. According to reports from across the world, it is evident that countries having a strong primary health care system, have better health outcomes, lower inequalities, and lower costs of care. Primary care requires a team of health professionals, workers, and volunteers having a judicious skill mix.

Materials And Methods: Oral candidal carriage, strain diversity, and antifungal susceptibility of were checked for the patients having oral cancer or precancer reporting to the clinics for 1½ year. Statistically significant patients were selected and a control group was taken.

Chondrosarcoma of maxilla.

Chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant cartilaginous tumor of the head and neck region. It is a slow-growing tumor and is mostly detected in the anterior maxilla and the base of the skull. We report a case of "Grade II Chondrosarcoma" of the posterior right side of the palate invading maxillary sinus and perforating the floor of the orbit.

Effect of Denture Cleansers on Surface Roughness and Flexural Strength of Heat Cure Denture Base Resin-An In vitro Study.

Introduction: Denture cleansing is essential for maintaining the prosthesis and oral health, so choosing an appropriate cleanser which is not only efficient but also not adversely affects the properties of denture base resin itself with prolonged use is important. Hence, the present study was undertaken.

Materials And Methods: The study comprised of examination of 679 first permanent molars which were examined to assess the occurrence of smooth surface white spot lesions in children of 8 to 16 years age group.

Clinical and radiographic comparison of various medicaments used for pulpotomy in primary molars: A randomized clinical trial.

Objective: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of ferric sulfate, glutaraldehyde, and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) as pulpotomy medicaments in primary molars.

However, sometimes the presence of certain artefacts in a microscopic section can result in misinterpretations leading to diagnostic pitfalls that can result in increased patient morbidity. This article reviews the common artefacts encountered during slide examination alongside the remedial measures which can be undertaken to differentiate between an artefact and tissue constituent.

A tender swelling of the left posterior mandible: An unusual case.

Tender swellings of the mandible are majorly due to inflammatory lesions like infected dental cyst, peri-apical abscess or neoplasms like osteoblastomas, cementoblastomas, osteosarcoma and intraosseous squamous cell carcinoma. Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia is a subgroup of cemento-osseous dysplasia typically found in middle-aged black women as multiple, non-tender, diffuse, lobulated radio-opacities distributed throughout the maxilla and mandible, which are usually bilaterally symmetrical. Histologically, they are composed of proliferating fibrous connective tissue stroma containing foci of cementum, osteoid and bone.

Socket sclerosis, a rare complication in orthodontic tooth movement.

Socket sclerosis is usually asymptomatic and does not require any treatment. The only potential complication arises during orthodontic treatment, wherein sclerosed socket of the premolar teeth may be an obstacle in closing the space by movement of teeth through the extraction space. This article demonstrates the problems encountered during the orthodontic treatment of a 20-year-old Malaysian woman with socket sclerosis and the treatment strategy employed to overcome the same.

Situs inversus in a patient with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome: a histogenetic relationship?

Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) is an uncommon autosomal dominant inherited disorder with high penetrance and variable expressivity. It affects multiple organ systems, including the stomatological, skeletal, skin, eye, reproductive, and central nervous systems. It is caused by mutations in the patched tumor suppressor gene, PTCHI, located in the 9q22.

Elastography: the next step.

In the past few decades, various tools have emerged that claim to enhance detection of oral cancer. The most important prognostic factor in patients with oral cancer is lymph node status: the presence of nodal spread decreases the 5-year survival rate by approximately 50%. Differentiation between reactive and metastatic lymphadenopathy is thus vital, and one differentiating criterion is hardness (elasticity) of the lymph node.
