Objective: This study's objective was to explore the disaster management knowledge, attitude, behavior, willingness, and assistance among Nigerian dentists.

Methods: This cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted in Edo State (Nigeria) among selected Nigerian dentists that attended the Annual Scientific Conference of School of Dentistry, University of Benin (Benin City, Nigeria) between 2016 and 2017. Tender swellings of the mandible are majorly due to inflammatory lesions like infected dental cyst, peri-apical abscess or neoplasms like osteoblastomas, cementoblastomas, osteosarcoma and intraosseous squamous cell carcinoma. Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia is a subgroup of cemento-osseous dysplasia typically found in middle-aged black women as multiple, non-tender, diffuse, lobulated radio-opacities distributed throughout the maxilla and mandible, which are usually bilaterally symmetrical. Histologically, they are composed of proliferating fibrous connective tissue stroma containing foci of cementum, osteoid and bone.

In the past few decades, various tools have emerged that claim to enhance detection of oral cancer. The most important prognostic factor in patients with oral cancer is lymph node status: the presence of nodal spread decreases the 5-year survival rate by approximately 50%. Differentiation between reactive and metastatic lymphadenopathy is thus vital, and one differentiating criterion is hardness (elasticity) of the lymph node.
