Background: Microbiomes are critical to plants, promoting growth, elevating stress tolerance, and expanding the plant's metabolic repertoire with novel defense pathways. However, generally microbiomes within plant tissues, which intimately interact with their hosts, remain poorly characterized. These endospheres have become a focus in banana (Musa spp.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common vascular disease associated with significant phenotypic alterations in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Gasdermin D (GSDMD) is a pore-forming effector of pyroptosis. In this study, the role of VSMC-specific GSDMD in the phenotypic alteration of VSMCs and AAA formation is determined.

Hsp104 is a ring-forming, ATP-driven molecular machine that recovers functional protein from both stress-denatured and amyloid-forming aggregates. Although Hsp104 shares a common architecture with Clp/Hsp100 protein unfoldases, different and seemingly conflicting 3D structures have been reported. Examining the structure of Hsp104 poses considerable challenges because Hsp104 readily hydrolyzes ATP, whereas ATP analogs can be slowly turned over and are often contaminated with other nucleotide species.
