Background: Sutures at the surgical site can act as a reservoir for microbes, leading to surgical site infection. This mainly occurs in braided sutures due to wicking action. The use of triclosan-coated suture (TCS) or chlorhexidine-coated suture (CCS) could be one of the possible alternatives to reduce the microbial load.

Introduction: The incidence of childhood malignancy is greatest in the 1 year of life, with the second peak to be found at 2-3 years of age. The aim for the study was to investigate the incidence and nature of oral problems occurring in a population of child cancer patients; the other aim was to assess the dental management of the treatment undergoing children.
Materials And Methods: All child patients between 2 and 15 years old were admitted to the medical hospital for the treatment of newly diagnosed oral cancer over a period of 1 year were included in the study.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to use a simple, cost-effective technique for studying mitosis in various grades of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) using 1% Crystal-violet stain and to correlate mitotic frequency index (MFI) obtained by it with Ki67 labeling index (Ki67LI) so as to validate its usefulness as a selective stain for evaluating proliferation.
Materials And Methods: The invasive front grading score (IFG Score) was recorded in 40 patients of OSCC. Mitotic figures were assessed in hematoxylin and eosin (H and E) stained section as well as in 1% crystal-violet stained section using MFI (MFI = Mitosis/total number of cell counted X100).

Background: Charcoal toothbrushes have been marketed widely claiming lesser bacterial contamination owing to the presence of activated charcoal.
Aim And Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the bacterial contamination and antimicrobial efficacy of charcoal bristles compared to noncharcoal bristles in used toothbrushes.
Materials And Methods: A total of 50 patients met inclusion criteria which were given standard brushing instructions on the use of a charcoal toothbrush and were asked to return the used brushes after 1 week of usage.

Background: High-power level lasers used in health sciences have important photothermal effect. The maximum absorption of the diode laser correlates with the absorption range of hemoglobin, suggesting that red color may be the required chromophore. Hence, we hypothesized that by providing artificial external red chromophore, we can improve the cutting efficiency of diode laser in noninflamed tissue.

Background: Plaque control has been shown to have a pivotal role in maintaining optimal periodontal health. Toothbrushing as a mechanical plaque control tool is the most popular and effective option for self-performed oral health maintenance. However, the detrimental effects of bristle hardness and force exerted by toothbrushes on the tooth surface are the areas of concern.

Introduction: This study was designed to evaluate and compare different endodontic irrigation and activation systems for removal of the intracanal smear layer.
Methods And Materials: Forty recently extracted, non-carious human intact single rooted premolars were selected and divided into five groups (=10) according to the root canal irrigation systems; syringe and needle irrigation (CTR), sonic irrigation, passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and EndoVac irrigation system. All groups were prepared to #40 apical size with K-files.

Background: For the first time in India, allografts from human extracted teeth were prepared. A randomized, prospective, clinicoradiographical, histological study was conducted to evaluate their efficacy in comparison with freeze-dried bone allograft (FDBA) in alveolar ridge preservation.
Materials And Methods: Graft preparation: with written consent, teeth were collected from three donors (full mouth extraction cases).

Platelet concentrates (PC) [platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)] are frequently used for surgical procedures in medical and dental fields, particularly in oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and sports medicine. The objective of all these technologies is to extract all the elements from a blood sample that could be used to improve healing and promote tissue regeneration. Although leukocyte rich and leukocyte poor PRP's have their own place in literature, the importance of non-platelet components in a platelet concentrate remains a mystery.

Aims: Oral cancer is the most life-threatening disease of oral tissues. In societies where the incidence of oral cancer is high, clinically recognizable premalignant lesions are particularly common. Diagnosing oral cancers at an early stage is critical in improving the survival rate and reducing the morbidity associated with the disease.

Background: Surgical site plaque accumulation is one of the challenging problems leading to unfavorable healing. The antibacterial sutures can be used to reduce or inhibit plaque formation. Presently there is no study comparing efficacy of sutures coated with triclosan and chlorhexidine in terms of oral biofilm inhibition and antimicrobial property against periodontal pathogens.

Introduction: Microleakage is an important consideration in primary dentition because the floor of the cavity preparation may be close to the pulp. The added insult to the pulp caused by seepage of irritants around the restoration and through the thin dentin may produce irreversible pulp damage.
Aim: The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the sealing ability of three light cured (LC) resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (RMGICs) in primary anterior teeth.

Introduction: Caries under restorations is the most common reason for re-treatment and replacement in restorative failures. To avoid failures of fixed dental prostheses, it is important to diagnose caries under it earlier. Without image degradation and metal artifacts, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) can be the solution to detect caries without removing fixed dental prostheses.

Context: Platelet concentrates have been extensively used in a variety of medical fields to promote soft- and hard-tissue regeneration. The significance behind their use lies in the abundance of growth factors (GFs) in platelets α-granules that promote wound healing. Other than releasing a pool of GFs upon activation, platelets also have many features that indicate their role in the anti-infective host defense.

Statement Of Problem: The accuracy and reliability of the methods used for programming the semi-adjustable articulators determine the accuracy in occlusion. The current recommended average settings using the Hanau's formula commonly used by clinicians is questionable, and thus reassessment is needed. This study was carried out to evaluate and compare the lateral condylar guidance: (1) Using the Hanau's formula and the computerized jaw tracking device (Kinesiograph).

The masticatory system constitutes four closely interrelated components: Teeth, muscles, nerves, and temporomandibular joints (TMJ). The stable and physiologic rest position of the TMJ is based on the muscle guidance (mainly masticatory, and partially facial), neurally determined and controlled occlusion, integrated together with its peripheral proprioceptors and relax mechanism of the central nervous system. Oral rehabilitation procedures should emphasize on a holistic approach to establish a physiologic relationship of the lower jaw to the base of the cranium resulting in a neuromuscular rest position.
