Introduction: Walking or gait impairment is a common consequence of stroke that persists into the chronic phase of recovery for many stroke survivors. The goals of this work were to obtain consensus from a multidisciplinary panel on current practice patterns and treatment options for walking impairment after stroke, to better understand the unmet needs for rehabilitation in the chronic phase of recovery and to explore opportunities to address them, and to discuss the potential role of rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) in gait rehabilitation.

Methods: A panel of eight experts specializing in neurology, physical therapy, and physiatry participated in this three-part, modified Delphi study.

Floating Ball Voice Therapy: Preliminary Effects on Outcomes and Predicting Individual Patient Differences in Generalization.

Purpose: Floating ball voice therapy (FBVT) is a voice-controlled virtual environment based on a common treatment component across multiple evidence-based therapies: improved vocal efficiency (target) via practicing voicing with modified resonance and airflow (ingredient). This study preliminarily tested FBVT's effects on outcomes and the potential for its novel variability metrics to predict individual patient generalization.

Method: Ten patients with nonphonotraumatic vocal hyperfunction (NPVH) practiced FBVT for 10 days.

Prerequisite courses have been a staple in admissions requirements for health programs for more than a century. Prerequisites serve various roles including achieving accreditation standards, determining academic preparation, predicting academic success, and informing admissions decisions. While the theories purported to support prerequisite courses have largely remained static, the challenges for educators and applicants have evolved.

Caregivers' reports of the home literacy environments of children with developmental language disorder and typically developing peers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose: Children with developmental language disorder (DLD) are at heightened risk for reading difficulty. We investigated the home literacy environments of kindergarten children with DLD and typically developing (TD) peers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method: We analysed scores from standardised assessments of oral language, nonverbal intelligence, and word reading in conjunction with home literacy questionnaire data at three time points.

Yet, the 2020 adult guidelines were unstudied; we aimed to assess adherence to these guidelines. We reviewed clinical and demographic data from medical charts of 327 adults with DS who were seen in the MGH DSP.

Feasibility of Holographic Team Training Simulation: An Information Technology (IT) Perspective for Healthcare and Educational Institutions.

Introduction This study examines the feasibility and practicality of holographic display technology (HDT) in health professions education from an information technology (IT) support staff perspective. Considering a lack of feasibility studies for introducing newer technologies, it focuses on feasibility's acceptance and practicality dimensions during a simulation-based team training workshop. Method A multimethod design feasibility study assessed the acceptability and practicality of HDT for the IT staff through a Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)-based survey and a focus group discussion after a team training simulation workshop.

Global perspectives on the management of primary progressive aphasia.

Speech-language therapists/pathologists (SLT/Ps) are key professionals in the management and treatment of primary progressive aphasia (PPA), however, there are gaps in education and training within the discipline, with implications for skills, confidence, and clinical decision-making. This survey aimed to explore the areas of need amongst SLT/Ps working with people living with PPA (PwPPA) internationally to upskill the current and future workforce working with progressive communication disorders. One hundred eighty-six SLT/Ps from 27 countries who work with PwPPA participated in an anonymous online survey about their educational and clinical experiences, clinical decision-making, and self-reported areas of need when working with this population.

Research Priorities for Childhood Apraxia of Speech: A Long View.

This article introduces the Special Issue: Selected Papers From the 2022 Apraxia Kids Research Symposium. The field of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) has developed significantly in the past 15 years, with key improvements in understanding of basic biology including genetics, neuroscience, and computational modelling; development of diagnostic tools and methods; diversity of evidence-based interventions with increasingly rigorous experimental designs; and understanding of impacts beyond impairment-level measures. Papers in this special issue not only review and synthesize the some of the substantial progress to date but also present novel findings addressing critical research gaps and adding to the overall body of knowledge.

Purpose: This clinical tutorial will present the concept of applying auditory-perceptual prompts (implicit instruction) typically used in voice therapy to the anatomy and physiology of the voice production system (explicit instruction) via the Estill Voice Model (EVM) and the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS).

Methods: EVM offers an integrated implicit-explicit instructional approach to voice training allowing for isolated practice of vocal structures (explicit) that interact to produce functional voice qualities (implicit), such as modal speech and louder projected voice qualities. In EVM, voice quality is correlated with the specific anatomy and physiologic adjustments via 13 Estill Figures and Options (eg, Larynx Figure has three options: High, Mid, and Low).
