Introduction: Walking or gait impairment is a common consequence of stroke that persists into the chronic phase of recovery for many stroke survivors. The goals of this work were to obtain consensus from a multidisciplinary panel on current practice patterns and treatment options for walking impairment after stroke, to better understand the unmet needs for rehabilitation in the chronic phase of recovery and to explore opportunities to address them, and to discuss the potential role of rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) in gait rehabilitation.

Methods: A panel of eight experts specializing in neurology, physical therapy, and physiatry participated in this three-part, modified Delphi study.

Purpose: Floating ball voice therapy (FBVT) is a voice-controlled virtual environment based on a common treatment component across multiple evidence-based therapies: improved vocal efficiency (target) via practicing voicing with modified resonance and airflow (ingredient). Speech-language therapists/pathologists (SLT/Ps) are key professionals in the management and treatment of primary progressive aphasia (PPA), however, there are gaps in education and training within the discipline, with implications for skills, confidence, and clinical decision-making. This survey aimed to explore the areas of need amongst SLT/Ps working with people living with PPA (PwPPA) internationally to upskill the current and future workforce working with progressive communication disorders. One hundred eighty-six SLT/Ps from 27 countries who work with PwPPA participated in an anonymous online survey about their educational and clinical experiences, clinical decision-making, and self-reported areas of need when working with this population.

This article introduces the Special Issue: Selected Papers From the 2022 Apraxia Kids Research Symposium. The field of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) has developed significantly in the past 15 years, with key improvements in understanding of basic biology including genetics, neuroscience, and computational modelling; development of diagnostic tools and methods; diversity of evidence-based interventions with increasingly rigorous experimental designs; and understanding of impacts beyond impairment-level measures. Purpose: This clinical tutorial will present the concept of applying auditory-perceptual prompts (implicit instruction) typically used in voice therapy to the anatomy and physiology of the voice production system (explicit instruction) via the Estill Voice Model (EVM) and the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS).

Methods: EVM offers an integrated implicit-explicit instructional approach to voice training allowing for isolated practice of vocal structures (explicit) that interact to produce functional voice qualities (implicit), such as modal speech and louder projected voice qualities. In EVM, voice quality is correlated with the specific anatomy and physiologic adjustments via 13 Estill Figures and Options (eg, Larynx Figure has three options: High, Mid, and Low).
