The stability of the glenohumeral joint, known for its remarkable mobility, relies on several factors, including the congruency of the joint's bones and the integrity of capsulolabral structures, encompassing the labrum, the capsule, and the glenohumeral ligaments. In cases of anterior shoulder instability, bone lesions are a common occurrence, most frequently involving glenoid bone loss and Hill-Sachs lesions. When both glenoid and humeral bone lesions coexist, the isolated Bankart procedure has exhibited a significant rate of failure.

Purpose: The aim was to assess skeletal stability after maxillary advancement using either distraction osteogenesis (DO) or conventional Le Fort I osteotomy (CO) in patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP) or cleft palate (CP) utilising a new superimposition-based cephalometric method.
Method: This retrospective study included patients who were treated with DO (N = 12) or CO (N = 9). Sagittal and vertical changes after surgery, and skeletal stability at 18 months post-operatively were assessed with superimposition-based cephalometry, comparing lateral cephalograms performed pre-operatively (T0), post-operatively after CO or immediately after completed distraction in DO (T1), and at 18 months of follow-up (T2).

It is unclear whether the additional conduit to supplement bilateral internal thoracic arteries (BITA) influences the patient outcome in coronary surgery. This retrospective study compared long-term survival of patients undergoing left-sided BITA grafting in which the third conduit to the right coronary system (RCA) was either vein graft (SVG) or gastroepiploic artery (GEA). From 1989 to 2014, 1432 consecutive patients underwent left-sided revascularization with BITA associated with SVG (n = 599) or GEA (n = 833) to RCA.

Background: The benefit of arterial revascularization in coronary surgery remains controversial. The incremental value of additional grafts to the left internal thoracic artery (ITA) has been mainly assessed according to the number of arterial grafts, possibly limiting the detection of its actual impact. We analyzed the influence of the number of distal arterial anastomoses (DAA) performed on late mortality in patients having received from one to three arterial grafts.
