J Maxillofac Oral Surg

February 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, KMC Manipal, MAHE, Manipal, India.

Abstract: Secondary correction for aesthetic purposes can be more challenging as the fractured segments may be united in abnormal positions and would require osteotomy procedures before mobilizing the segments for reconstruction. Such maneuvers require adequate exposure and visibility. The subcranial approach is an effective alternate to classical approaches, which required frontal lobe retraction.

Crossing the Hurdle of a Low Oocyte Yield in an Fertilization Cycle to Obtain Mature Oocytes.

J Hum Reprod Sci

June 2022

Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Kasturba Medical College, MAHE University, Manipal, Karnataka, India.

The complex process of oocyte maturation involves a coordinated set of events to take place so that an adequate number of oocytes can be obtained during an oocyte pickup procedure following controlled ovarian stimulation. A weak link in any of the steps can yield a sparse number of oocytes which can be a setback in the process.

Background: Cardiac involvement in neonates with perinatal asphyxia not only complicates perinatal management but also contributes to increased mortality.

Aim: To assess cardiac troponin T (cTnT) levels in asphyxiated neonates and their correlation with echocardiography findings, inotrope requirement, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) stages, and mortality.

Methods: cTnT levels, echocardiographic findings, the requirement of inotropes, HIE stages, and outcome were studied in neonates of gestational age ≥ 34 wk with perinatal asphyxia.

Synovium-derived mesenchymal stromal cell (Sy-MSC) is a newer member of the mesenchymal stromal cell families. The first successful demonstration of the mesenchymal stromal cell from the human synovial membrane was done in 2001 and since then its potential role for musculoskeletal regeneration has been keenly documented. The regenerative effects of Sy-MSCs are through paracrine signaling, direct cell-cell interactions, and extracellular vehicles.

Primary Angiosarcoma of Humerus - A Case Report and Literature Review.

J Orthop Case Rep

May 2021

Department of Orthopedics, School of Medical Sciences and Research, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. India.

Introduction: Osseous angiosarcoma is a very rare tumor of bone with aggressive behavior, propensity for recurrences, and distant metastasis. The etiology of osseous angiosarcoma is uncertain; however, specific risk factors have been recognized. The diagnosis of angiosarcoma of bone demands multimodality imaging in conjunction with histopathological and vascular marker evaluation to aptly differentiate them from other vascular tumors.

Accentuating the sources of mesenchymal stem cells as cellular therapy for osteoarthritis knees-a panoramic review.

Stem Cell Investig

July 2021

International Association of Stemcell and Regenerative Medicine (IASRM), New Delhi, India.

The large economic burden on the global health care systems is due to the increasing number of symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA) knee patients whereby accounting for greater morbidity and impaired functional quality of life. The recent developments and impulses in molecular and regenerative medicine have paved the way for inducing the biological active cells such as stem cells, bioactive materials, and growth factors towards the healing and tissue regenerative process. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) act as a minimally invasive procedure that bridges the gap between pharmacological treatment and surgical treatment for OA.

Exosomal therapy-a new frontier in regenerative medicine.

Stem Cell Investig

April 2021

Department of Biotechnology, School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The recent advances in translational and nanomedicine have paved the way for developing the targeted drug delivery system at a greater pace among global researchers. On par with these technologies, exosomes act as a potential portal for cell-free drug delivery systems as these are bestowed with the native characteristics of the parent cell of origin. Exosomes, called extracellular vesicles (EcVs), are present in almost all cells, tissues, and body fluids.

Segmental resection of the mandible commonly results in deviation of the mandible to the defective side. The amount of deviation depends on the amount of hard and soft tissue involvement, the method of surgical site closure, the degree of impaired tongue function, the number of remaining teeth and the extent of loss of sensory and motor innervations. Prosthodontic treatment along with physical therapy may be useful in reducing mandibular deviation and improving masticatory efficiency.
