Solar radiation model and optimization of asymmetric large-span externally insulated plastic greenhouses.

To improve the light environment of asymmetric large-span externally insulated plastic greenhouses, a solar radiation model that considers the projection path equations of the insulation quilts and validated the model was established. The model was employed to investigate the impact of different heights, spans, and north lighting projection lengths on the greenhouses' light environment. The results revealed that ground radiation interception, a key component of winter lighting, was most influenced by height, followed by span, and least influenced by the projection length of the north lighting roof.

De novo design of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides.

In nature, peptides are enzymatically modified to constrain their structure and introduce functional moieties. De novo peptide structures could be built by combining enzymes from different pathways, but determining the rules of their use is difficult. We present a biophysical model to combine enzymes sourced from bacterial ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptide (RiPP) gene clusters.

Background: Digital data sources such as mobile phone call detail records (CDRs) are increasingly being used to estimate population mobility fluxes and to predict the spatiotemporal dynamics of infectious disease outbreaks. Differences in mobile phone operators' geographic coverage, however, may result in biased mobility estimates.

Methods: We leverage a unique dataset consisting of CDRs from three mobile phone operators in Bangladesh and digital trace data from Meta's Data for Good program to compare mobility patterns across these sources.

Objectives: Diabetes mellitus has been associated with greater difficulty of tracheal intubation in the operating room. This relationship has not been examined for tracheal intubation of critically ill adults. We examined whether diabetes mellitus was independently associated with the time from induction of anesthesia to intubation of the trachea among critically ill adults.

Advancing Delirium Treatment Trials in Older Adults: Recommendations for Future Trials From the Network for Investigation of Delirium: Unifying Scientists (NIDUS).

Objectives: To summarize the delirium treatment trial literature, identify the unique challenges in delirium treatment trials, and formulate recommendations to address each in older adults.

Design: A 39-member interprofessional and international expert working group of clinicians (physicians, nurses, and pharmacists) and nonclinicians (biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and trial methodologists) was convened. Numerical simulation of coal particle motion characteristics in the envelope region of spiral drum based on discrete element method.

In order to study the movement characteristics of coal particles in the coal loading process of spiral drums, the spiral drum of a certain type of shearer was taken as the research object, and the intrinsic parameters of the materials were calibrated through the determination results of coal sample properties, the relevant parameters of coal particle adhesion were determined, and a discrete element model of spiral drum coal loading was established. The distribution of coal particle movement subsequent to the fracture of the coal wall was derived through simulation. By spatially dividing the envelope region of the spiral drum along the radial and axial directions, the number and velocity distribution of coal particles in different envelope regions were obtained.

A Proposal for Revised and Simplified Renal Pelvic Urothelial Carcinoma Staging Criteria: A Clinicopathologic Study of 141 Tumors.

Staging of renal pelvic urothelial carcinoma can be challenging due to anatomic variation at the renal pelvis compared with ureter and bladder and calls into question the prognostic accuracy of the current TNM staging. In this study, we determined staging and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in 141 patients undergoing nephroureterectomy for renal pelvic urothelial carcinoma (pTa=50, pT1=29, pT2=10, pT3=36, and pT4=16). Under current staging criteria, we found no significant difference in CSS between adjacent staging categories step-wise across pTa, pT1, pT2, and pT3 tumors.

The pathomechanism of bone marrow edema in the femoral head necrosis with pericollapse stage.

Bone marrow edema (BME), a notable manifestation during the progression of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), exhibits significant associations with femoral head collapse, pain, and prognosis, howeverits' pathogenesis remains underexplored. Objectives: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), an increasing public health concern, remains challenging to diagnose and risk-stratify. We assessed the 1) prevalence of MASLD risk factors among Veterans in Veterans Health Administration (VA) care, 2) factors associated with MASLD diagnosis; and 3) associations between MASLD diagnosis and receipt of care.

Methods: Veterans with MASLD risk factors, including obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, or dyslipidemia, were identified using International Classification of Diseases-10 codes and followed in 2019-2022.
