Metal-centered chirality has been recognized for over one century, and stereogenic-at-metal complexes where chirality is exclusively attributed to the metal center due to the specific coordination pattern of achiral ligands around the metal ion, has been broadly utilized in diverse areas of natural science. However, synthesis of these molecules remains constrained. Notably, while asymmetric catalysis has played a crucial role in the production of optically active organic molecules, its application to stereogenic-at-metal complexes is less straightforward.

The incorporation of thermal dynamics alongside conventional optoelectronic principles holds immense promise for advancing technology. Here, we introduce a GaON/GaN heterostructure-nanowire ultraviolet electrochemical cell of observing a photothermoelectric bipolar impulse characteristic. By leveraging the distinct thermoelectric properties of GaON/GaN, rapid generation of hot carriers establishes bidirectional instantaneous gradients in concentration and temperature within the nanoscale heterostructure via light on/off modulation.

A protein's molecular interactions and post-translational modifications (PTMs), such as phosphorylation, can be co-dependent and reciprocally co-regulate each other. Although this interplay is central for many biological processes, a systematic method to simultaneously study assembly states and PTMs from the same sample is critically missing. Here, we introduce SEC-MX (Size Exclusion Chromatography fractions MultipleXed), a global quantitative method combining Size Exclusion Chromatography and PTM-enrichment for simultaneous characterization of PTMs and assembly states.

Ocean weather comprises vortical and straining mesoscale motions, which play fundamentally different roles in the ocean circulation and climate system. Vorticity determines the movement of major ocean currents and gyres. Strain contributes to frontogenesis and the deformation of water masses, driving much of the mixing and vertical transport in the upper ocean.

In the last decades, natural and anthropogenic pressures have caused observable changes in the argan landscape despite its significance in Morocco. Remote sensing data can be used to monitor these changes over time and provide information on vegetation health and land cover changes. This study assesses the performance of supervised methods (support vector machine, maximum likelihood, and minimum distance) and unsupervised classification method (Isodata) for mapping the argan forest in the Smimou area of Essaouira province using remote sensing data from Landsat-5 and Landsat-8 (1985 and 2019).

Background And Research Question: While patient safety during general anesthesia has improved in recent years, incidents still occur in anesthesia, particularly in the area of airway management and ventilation. In addition to a mandatory daily system test before using a ventilator, a QUICK check is recommended by the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI) before connecting a patient; however, misconnections of breathing tubes are still possible and not necessarily detected by the device self-test. The aim of the present study was to analyze user behavior at modern anesthesia workstations regarding the verification and functionality of the QUICK check.

The cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumor stroma present substantial barriers to drug penetration, resulting in tumor resistance and progression. One promising strategy is to reprogram CAFs into a quiescent state, which necessitates novel approaches. Our study introduces a sequential treatment strategy using chitosan thermosensitive hydrogels loaded with α-Mangostin (α-M), a small molecule drug with antifibrotic properties, aimed at reprogramming CAFs within the breast cancer tumor microenvironment (TME).

Transition-metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-H activation has transformed the landscape of asymmetric synthesis, enabling the efficient conversion of C-H bonds into C-C and carbon-heteroatom (C-X) bonds. However, the formation of C-S bonds through enantioselective C-H thiolation remains underdeveloped due to challenges such as catalyst deactivation and competitive coordination of sulfur-containing compounds with chiral ligands. Herein, we report an unprecedented approach to constructing sulfur-substituted planar chiral ferrocenes (PCFs) through copper-mediated enantioselective C-H thiolation enabled by only a 2.

Background: Opioid overdose is an ongoing public health issue in the rural United States and can be countered by increasing access to the opioid antagonist naloxone. Community pharmacists are well-positioned to offer and dispense naloxone to patients at risk of opioid overdose, but still experience a range of communication barriers. Understanding rural patient communication preferences is essential to prepare pharmacists to discuss naloxone in a patient-centered manner.

Background: Monovalent biologics blocking thymic stromal lymphopoietin or interleukin-13 have been shown to elicit pharmacodynamic responses in asthma following a single dose. Therefore, dual blockade of these cytokines may result in an enhanced response compared to single targeting and has the potential to break efficacy ceilings in asthma. This study assessed the safety and tolerability of lunsekimig, a bispecific NANOBODY molecule that blocks thymic stromal lymphopoietin and interleukin-13, and its effect on Type 2 inflammatory biomarkers and lung function in asthma.

The removal of selenite (SeO) from water is challenging due to the risk of secondary pollutants. To address this, we developed RuO-based nanocatalysts on the titanium plate (RuO/TP) for direct electrochemical reduction of Se(IV) to elemental selenium [Se(0)]. Optimizing Sn doping in RuO nanoparticles to induce charge redistribution enabled the RuSnO/TP catalyst to achieve ∼90% Se(IV) removal across concentrations of 0.
