Here we explored new 1,5-disubstituted pyrrolidin-2-ones 1, 2 and 5-aryl-3,3,4,5-tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-]quinoline-1(2)-ones 3 as inhibitors of tubulin polymerization. We evaluated their effects on microtubule dynamics and on the proliferation of A549 cells, using flow cytometry-based cell cycle analysis. The results were verified with phase-contrast microscopy in three cancer cell lines: A549, HeLa and MCF-7.

Background: Orenburg Region is located in the South Urals, mostly in the steppe zone and is characterised by various landscapes suitable for many Chenopodiaceae. The species of Chenopodiaceae are present in all major plant communities (saline vegetation, steppes, on limestone, chalk and sand, and as degraded or ruderal communities). In the steppe zone, many native subshrubby species (, , ) playing a crucial role in semi-deserts (known as southern steppes in the recent Russian literature) located southwards of Orenburg Region are locally found, and several annuals (, spp.

This study contains an analysis of basal metabolic rate (BMR) in 1817 endothermic species. The aim was to establish how metabolic scaling varies between the main groups of endotherms during evolution. The data for all the considered groups were combined and the common exponent in the allometric relationship between the BMR and body weight was established as = 0.

However, the temporal aspects of their colonization are largely missing. Did one route prevail early, while another was more important later? The high Arctic archipelago Svalbard represents a good model system to address timeframe of postglacial plant colonization.

Two new species of Chappuis, 1929 from the Russian Arctic from the species group are described: and A complete morphological comparison of the new species with the type species (Claus, 1863) was carried out. Significant interspecific differences were shown at the level of microcharacters, such as integumental sensillae and pores, ornamentation of segments of mouthparts and swimming legs, and pores on swimming legs. A significant correlation has also been shown in the shape of the caudal rami of the females and the antennules of the males, which is likely caused by an evolutionary sexual arms race.

We present light and scanning electron microscopical observations on two new species of Bory sensu stricto from Southeast Asia. Chudaev, Glushchenko, Kulikovskiy & Kociolek, differs from taxa with similar outline and size by the combination of simple drop-like external raphe endings deflected to the primary valve side, presence of well-developed external longitudinal grooves and relatively low lineolae density. Chudaev, Glushchenko, Kulikovskiy & Kociolek, can be discriminated from the taxa of similar valve shape and size by consistently lower lineolae density, and from the majority of them also by the structure of external proximal raphe endings with small projections in proximal parts and larger triangular insertions in distal parts.

Micromorphological characters of leaf epidermis were investigated in 69 species of using scanning electron microscopy. Sculpture of epidermis varies from smooth to verrucose and rugose in the genus. The abaxial epidermis of some species bears papillae, whereas the adaxial surface uniformly lacks the papillae.

Background: The purpose of this dataset is to deliver to a wider audience in the form of GBIF-mediated data vast floristic materials collected by the author across various localities of European Russia from 2001-2019 (Arkhangelsk, Tver, Vladimir, Tula, Lipetsk, Voronezh Oblasts, Krasnodar Krai, City of Moscow and Komi Republic). Taxonomic data on vascular plants for ten locations were mobilised from the papers and technical reports published in Russian and standardised. Floristic treatments for two locations (Yasnaya Polyana and Tsaritsyno) have never been published before.

In this work, an optimal protocol was developed for obtaining adhesion culture of neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPC) of rat olfactory mucosa. During the development of the protocol, the conditions for cell culturing on adhesion substrates fibronectin and laminin in DMEM/F-12 and neurobasal media with the same culture additives were compared. Cell proliferation was maximum during culturing on both substrates in the neurobasal medium.

A new approach has been proposed and developed: the selection of optimal variants in the evolutionary mutation flow is considered as an analogue of a percolation filter. Interaction of mutations in a series of generations and random processes of drift determine the collective behavior of nodes (individuals - carriers and converters of mutations) and bonds (mutations) in the space of percolation lattice. It is shown that the choice of the development trajectory at the population level depends on the spectrum of supporting and prohibiting mutations under the influence of conjugate deterministic and random factors.

Human-induced climate change is expected to cause major biotic changes in species distributions and thereby including escalation of novel host-parasite associations. Closely related host species that come into secondary contact are especially likely to exchange parasites and pathogens. Both the Enemy Release Hypothesis (where invading hosts escape their original parasites) and the Novel Weapon Hypothesis (where invading hosts bring new parasites that have detrimental effects on native hosts) predict that the local host will be most likely to experience a disadvantage.

Ethylene is known to influence the cell cycle (CC) via poorly characterized roles whilst nitric oxide (NO) has well-established roles in the animal CC but analogous role(s) have not been reported for plants. As NO and ethylene signaling events often interact we examined their role in CC in cultured cells derived from wild-type (Col-0) plants and from ethylene-insensitive mutant plants. Both NO and ethylene were produced mainly during the first 5 days of the sub-cultivation period corresponding to the period of active cell division.

The value of was estimated from the magnetic field data by means of Cluster observations. The obtained scaling values for TCSs, Z~=ℓ/ρT, where is the thermal Larmor radius, were compared with the scaling Zμ=22E~/T, where E~ and are the average plasma energy and the temperature of plasma, which assumes a specific dynamics (conservation of magnetic flux through the trajectory segment) of the current carriers.

Background/aims: ATP release from erythrocyte plays a key role in hypoxia-induced elevation of blood flow in systematic circulation. We have previously shown that hemolysis contributes to erythrocyte ATP release triggered by several stimuli, including hypoxia, but the molecular mechanisms of hypoxia-increased membrane fragility remain unknown.
Methods: In this study, we compared the action of hypoxia on hemolysis, ATP release and the composition of membrane-bound proteins in human erythrocytes.
In acidic medium selenosemicarbazide undergoes oxidation by oxygen, dissolved in water, in the presence of copper(II) as a catalyst. The oxidation product exhibits an activating effect. The kinetics of the reaction have been investigated and the kinetic equations deduced both for small and high concentrations of the oxidation product.
