Biologics targeting matrix-degrading proteases, cartilage repair, and inflammation are emerging as promising approaches for osteoarthritis (OA) treatment. Recent research highlights biologic-human placental tissue (HPT) as a potential OA therapy due to its biocompatibility, abundant protein biofactors, and ability to reduce cartilage degradation by suppressing protease expression. Microneedles (MNs) are receiving growing attention for enhancing transdermal delivery of biologics as an alternative to conventional subcutaneous injections.

Drug repurposing is preferred over de-novo drug discovery to unveil the therapeutic applications of existing drug candidates before investing considerable resources in unexplored novel chemical entities. This study demonstrated multifaceted stratagems to reconnoiter promising repurposable candidates against Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) by amalgamating Real-World-Data (RWD) with bioinformatics algorithms corroborated with and studies. At the outset, the RWD from the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) was explored to navigate signals to retrieve repurposable drugs that are inversely associated with HCC via Disproportionality Analysis.

Breast cancer, the most prevalent cancer in females, is a heterogeneous disease with various molecular subtypes, which presents challenges in diagnosis and treatment. Ubiquitination is one of the most critical post-translational protein modifications, that plays regulatory roles in numerous cellular processes including cell cycle progression, DNA replication & repair, apoptosis, transcription regulation, protein localization, trafficking and signal transduction. This modification can be reversed by deubiquitinases, or DUBs, a superfamily of cysteine proteases and metalloproteases that cleave ubiquitin-protein bonds.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a gradual degenerative ailment of the nervous system that is marked by the buildup of amyloid-β plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. This accumulation causes problems with the connections between nerve cells and the loss of these cells. This review paper explores the complex pathophysiology of AD, analyzing the neuronal loss reported in key brain regions like the entorhinal cortex, amygdala, hippocampus, and cortical association areas.

Apidaecin 1b (Api), the first characterized Type II Proline-rich antimicrobial peptide (PrAMP), is encoded in the honey bee genome. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding in the nascent peptide exit tunnel of the ribosome after the release of the completed protein and trapping the release factors. By genome mining, we have identified 71 PrAMPs encoded in insect genomes as pre-pro-polyproteins.

Objective: This study aimed to test the efficacy of a mHealth-based workplace health promotion strategy in improving cardiorespiratory fitness in a healthcare setting.
Methods: Seventy-seven female nurses (age, 30-45 years) meeting the inclusion criteria underwent baseline assessment and received either a 12-week mHealth or awareness intervention based on their workplace. Changes in peak oxygen consumption (VO 2 ), fasting blood sugar, and physical activity were compared within and between the groups at the end of the intervention.

Melanin is an amorphous, highly heterogeneous polymer found across all kingdoms of life. Although the properties of melanin can greatly vary, most forms are insoluble and strongly absorb light, appearing dark brown to black. Here, we describe a water-soluble form of melanin (peptidomelanin) secreted by the spores of (strain: melanoliber) during germination.

Longstanding partial edentulism in the posterior segment of the maxilla is a challenging treatment and typically involves extensive and invasive sinus floor augmentation. Various methods have been employed for sinus floor elevation, including the application of hydraulic pressure using the balloon technique. This case report describes a modified ballooning technique to elevate the sinus floor using a Foley catheter to apply the hydraulic pressure method to elevate the Schneiderian membrane prior to the placement of bone grafts and an endosseous implant in a 37-year-old male patient who presented with an atrophic alveolar ridge height of 3.

While many computational methods accurately predict destabilizing mutations, identifying stabilizing mutations has remained a challenge, because of their relative rarity. We tested ΔΔG predictions from computational predictors such as Rosetta, ThermoMPNN, RaSP, and DeepDDG, using 82 mutants of the bacterial toxin CcdB as a test case. On this dataset, the best computational predictor is ThermoMPNN, which identifies stabilizing mutations with a precision of 68%.

In this study 5-((2-((3-methoxy benzylidene)-amino)-phenyl)-diazenyl)-4,6-diphenyl pyrimidine-2(5H)-thione was synthesized. The pharmacological applications of pyrimidine analogs are restricted due to their poor pharmacokinetic properties. As a solution, a microbial exopolysaccharide (curdlan gum) was used to synthesize folic acid-conjugated pyrimidine-2(5H)-thione-encapsulated curdlan gum-PEGamine nanoparticles (FA-Py-CG-PEGamine NPs).

Background: Dental glass-ceramics have limited strength and are unsuitable for high-stress-bearing areas. Zirconia stands out as a popular choice for reinforcing dental glass-ceramics due to its biocompatibility and high fracture toughness.
Objectives: The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of an increase in zirconia (25, 30, 35 and 50 wt%) on microstructure, chemical solubility, hardness, fracture toughness, and brittleness index of fluorosilicate glass systems for dental restorative applications.
Objectives: This review will map the various methodological approaches used in graded dental ceramics and distinguish their material characteristics and properties. The aim is to identify gaps in the development and application of grading in dental ceramic systems.
Introduction: The advantage of functionally graded materials is the absence of the weakest link, with no distinct boundaries, thereby eliminating the possibility of stress concentrations at the interfaces.
