Within class II bacteriocins, we assume the presence of a separate subfamily of antimicrobial peptides possessing a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Although these peptides are structurally related to the subclass IIa (pediocin-like) bacteriocins, they have significant differences in biological activities and, probably, a mechanism of their antimicrobial action. This study pioneers the exploration of OA of aryl halide to palladium nanoparticles (NPs), a process previously unaddressed in contrast to the activity of well-studied Pd(0) complexes. Despite the development of numerous advanced ligands for Pd-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reaction, the potential of (oligo)peptides serving as ligands remains unexplored. This study demonstrates via density functional theory (DFT) modeling that (oligo)peptide ligands can drive superior activity compared to classic phosphines in these reactions. The utilization of natural amino acids such as Met, SeMet, and His leads to strong binding of the Pd center, thereby ensuring substantial stability of the system.

The structure of the K141 type capsular polysaccharide (CPS) produced by Acinetobacter baumannii KZ1106, a clinical isolate recovered from Kazakhstan in 2016, was established by sugar analyses and one- and two-dimensional H and C NMR spectroscopy. The CPS was shown to consist of branched tetrasaccharide repeating units (K-units) with the following structure: This structure was found to be consistent with the genetic content of the KL141 CPS biosynthesis gene cluster at the chromosomal K locus in the KZ1106 whole genome sequence. Assignment of the encoded enzymes allowed the first sugar of the K unit to be identified, which revealed that the β-d-GlcpNAc-(1→3)-d-GlcpNAc bond is the linkage between K-units formed by the Wzy polymerase.

Background Aims: The CliniMACS Prodigy closed system is widely used for the manufacturing of chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T cells). Our study presents an extensive immunophenotypic and functional characterization and comparison of the properties of anti-CD19 CAR-T cell products obtained during long (11 days) and short (7 days) manufacturing cycles using the CliniMACS Prodigy system, as well as cell products manufactured from different donor sources of T lymphocytes: from patients, from patients who underwent HSCT, and from haploidentical donors. We also present the possibility of assessing the efficiency of transduction by an indirect method.

In this work, we synthesized a green fluorescent dye derivative, 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-BODIPY, with a heptyl substituent at the 8-position. The obtained highly hydrophobic compound was able to rapidly and irreversibly bind to eukaryotic cells. Incubation of cells with the dye over different periods of time or at different concentrations allowed us to control the degree of cell labeling and the level of fluorescence.

We demonstrate label-free imaging of genetically induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a murine model provided by two- and three-photon fluorescence microscopy of endogenous fluorophores excited at the central wavelengths of 790, 980 and 1250 nm and reinforced by second and third harmonic generation microscopy. We show, that autofluorescence imaging presents abundant information about cell arrangement and lipid accumulation in hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), harmonics generation microscopy provides a versatile tool for fibrogenesis and steatosis study. Multimodal images may be performed by a single ultrafast laser source at 1250 nm falling in tissue transparency window.

Roughly 1% of the global population is susceptible to celiac disease (CD)-inheritable autoimmune inflammation of the small intestine caused by intolerance to gliadin proteins present in wheat, rye, and barley grains, and called gluten in wheat. Classical treatment is a life-long gluten-free diet, which is constraining and costly. An alternative approach is based upon the development and oral reception of effective peptidases that degrade in the stomach immunogenic proline- and glutamine-rich gliadin peptides, which are the cause of the severe reaction in the intestine.
