Role of Hematological Indices as a Screening Tool of Beta Thalassemia Trait in Eastern Uttar Pradesh: An Institutional Study.

A large majority of microcytic hypochromic anemia have defects in cellular hemoglobin synthesis due to either iron deficiency or thalassemia trait; both differing in management and prognosis. HPLC and serum iron profile as confirmatory tests are unavailable at health care centers. Blanket therapy of iron supplements is therefore given in all such cases which may cause iron overload in thalassemia cases.

Vertical Transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from an Asymptomatic Pregnant Woman in India.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) is a highly infectious disease with many possible routes of transmission. Vertical transmission of SARS CoV-2 is still controversial. We report a case of vertical transmission of SARS CoV-2 from an asymptomatic pregnant woman to her newborn baby who had completely asymptomatic course in India.

Children Left Unattended in Parked Vehicles in India: An Analysis of 40 Fatalities from 2011 to 2020.

Background: Fatalities in children left unattended in parked motor vehicles are being reported frequently in the last decade but little research has been done analysing the circumstances leading to such preventable deaths in India.

Objectives: To analyse circumstances leading to fatalities in children left unattended in parked motor vehicles in India.

Methods: This study was a descriptive analysis conducted on the basis of an Internet search of published news in major Indian newspapers/channels using different combination of keywords.

Vehicular hyperthermia deaths in Indian children: a little recognised mode of fatal injury.

Parked vehicles can create deadly environments for young children who are left unattended. This study was a descriptive analysis to describe circumstances leading to death in children left unattended in parked motor vehicles in India. Between 2011 and 2018, there were 16 incidents that resulted in 28 fatalities across India, mostly in the summer months.

Femoral shaft fracture following oil massage in neonates: a single-centre experience.

Femoral shaft fractures following oil massage in newborns are very rare. We describe our observations at a tertiary centre in northern India. Three such cases encountered during the study period from July 2014 to June 2019 were evaluated.

Background: Beta-catenin and cyclin D1 have attracted considerable attention in recent studies as potential proto-oncogenes in many human cancers especially colonic cancer. Beta-catenin plays multiple roles within the cell such as canonical Wnt signaling where cyclin D1 has been identified as one of its target genes. The role of beta-catenin and cyclin D1 in breast cancer has been evaluated in many studies but not established yet.

Collecting duct carcinoma kidney masquerading as hydatid cyst: A rare case report and review of literature.

Prevalence of depression and anxiety among children in rural and suburban areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Psychiatric morbidity in children and adolescents is a major concern as they become more complex and intense with children's transition into adolescence.

Aim: The aim of this study is to assess and compare the prevalence of depression and anxiety among children residing in rural and suburban area of eastern Uttar Pradesh and understand the burden of these problems in our society.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) was previously considered as a psychosomatic disorder. But recent studies indicate that inflammation plays a significant role. The present study was undertaken to evaluate role of pro-inflammatory (IL 2, IL 6 and IL 8) and anti-inflammatory (IL 10) cytokines in clinically diagnosed patients of IBS.

Evaluation of Cyclin D1 expression in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Reduced T3 and free T4, elevated thyroid stimulating hormone, and hyporesponsiveness to thyrotropin releasing hormone raise questions about the presence of hypothyroidism in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and raise the possibility of benefit from thyroxine supplementation. A prospective cohort study was conducted on 73 nondiabetic CKD cases. Hypothyroid patients were started on levothyroxine and were reviewed after 3 and 6 months.

Vitamin D status in patients with cirrhosis of the liver and their relatives-A case control study from North India.

Background And Aim: Liver diseases interfere with the production of the metabolites of vitamin D required for activation, thus resulting in abnormal calcium and bone metabolism. Previous studies show inconsistent results of vitamin D level in non-cholestatic liver diseases. Our aim was to determine the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency in cirrhosis as compared to apparently normal relatives and its relationship with etiology and severity.

Reverse V osteotomy and treatment of cubitus varus deformity - Results and experience.

Introduction: Cubitus varus is a most common repercussion of malunited supracondylar fracture of humerus in paediatric age group. Initially, valgus osteotomies were in trend, but due to higher rate of complications, these procedures are not in trends today, as they were earlier. Tufted Angioma of Eyelid in an Adult - A Case Report.

Tufted Angiomas also known as angioblastomas /Angioblastoma of Nagakawa are rare vascular neoplasms localised to the skin and subcutaneous tissues with the upper trunk and neck being most common sites. They are mainly seen in children but a few cases in juveniles and adults have been reported. We hereby report this case, a 40-year-old male who presented with a right lower lid, painless, slowly progressive, firm swelling diagnosed as Tufted Angioma on histopathology and immunohistochemistry.

Our technique of midsagittal splitting laminoplasty for compressive cervical myelopathy and its short-term results.

Objective: The aim of this study was to discuss the technique of midsagittal splitting laminoplasty and to compare its short-term follow-up results with laminectomy in cases of compressive cervical spinal cord myelopathy.

Materials And Methods: Exclusion criteria were as follows: Intramedullary compressive lesions, kyphotic cervical spine, previous spinal surgeries, and defective anterior vertebral column. Twenty patients (10 each of laminoplasty and laminectomy groups) were prospectively studied from 2005 to 2008.
