Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the severe environmental pollution caused by dyeing industry wastewater, analyzing its physicochemical properties across five different sampling sites (K1, E2, S3, T4, V5).
  • Aspergillus flavus showed strong resistance to heavy metals and demonstrated decolorization capabilities of 11.2-46.5% at a concentration of 4 g/L, with an optimal temperature for this process being 35°C.
  • The research suggests that A. flavus biomass could be an effective method for treating dyeing industry wastewater, as it significantly reduces toxicity in treated samples.

Influences of wildfire on the forest ecosystem and climate change: A comprehensive study.

Environ Res

January 2024

Division of Research and Innovations, Department of Biotechnology, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Science, Chennai, 602105, Tamil Nadu, India. Electronic address:

Wildfires have complex impacts on forests, including changes in vegetation, threats to biodiversity, and emissions of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, which exacerbate climate change. The influence of wildfires on animal habitats is particularly noteworthy, as they can lead to significant changes in native environments. The extent of these alterations in species and habitats plays a crucial role in shaping forest ecology.

Pure and Nd-doped cerium oxides (CeO₂, CeNdO and CeNdO) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using leaf extract. X-ray powder diffraction studies were confirmed that synthesized pure and Nd doped CeO₂ NPs and were exhibited cubic structure. FE-SEM image exhibited pure and Nd doped CeO₂ NPs have spherical structure and Nd doped CeO2 NPs small pores were formed in the surface.

Spinel MnFe2O4 nanostructures were synthesized by simple, economical and eco-friendly microwave combustion (MCM) and conventional combustion (CCM) methods using metal nitrates and glycine used as the fuel, instead of toxic inorganic/organic catalyst, template and surfactant. Powder XRD and FT-IR, EDX and SAED results were confirmed the products have a cubic phase spinel structure. EDX and SAED results confirmed purity and high crystallinity without any other secondary phase impurities.

Context: Multipotent stromal cells are isolated from various fetal sources and studied for their phenotypic characterization and ability to differentiate into different lineages.

Aims: In this study, we aimed to isolate mesenchymal stem or stromal cells (MSCs) from villous chorion, expand under clinical scale level, compared the potency with other source of fetal-derived MSCs and studied their differentiation capabilities to form all three germ layers.

Subjects And Methods: Placenta obtained from C-section was used to isolate villous chorion-MSCs (VC-MSCs) were expanded up to tenth passage and their characteristics were assessed by proliferation rate and phenotypic characterization using fluorescence-activated cell sorting and also expanded MSCs were analyzed for differentiated into all three germ layers by cytochemical staining.

Profound research has been done on the medicinal value of Brassica nigra (BN) seeds, and the leaves of the plant have been investigated in this study. The methanol extracts of the leaves were subjected to several in vitro studies. The antioxidant activity of methanol extract was demonstrated with a wide range of concentration, 10-500 µg mL(-1), and the antioxidant activity increased with the increase in concentration.

Background: Cervical cancer has a major impact on developing countries, where screening programs are not well established or effective.

Aim: This study aims to investigate Human papillomavirus (HPV) 6, 11 and 18 expression in cervical biopsies by immunohistochemistry, (IHC) followed by typing of high-risk HPV 16 and 18 in high-grades by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Settings And Design: During the study period of six months, 30 biopsy samples were obtained from patients attending various gynecology clinics in and around Trichy District, Tamil Nadu, between January and June 2009.
