Background And Aims: The safety and tolerability of bulevirtide (BLV), a novel entry inhibitor of hepatitis delta virus, were evaluated in an integrated analysis of clinical trial results from patients with chronic hepatitis delta (CHD).
Methods: Week 48 on-treatment clinical and laboratory results from two Phase 2 trials (MYR203 [NCT02888106] and MYR204 [NCT03852433]) and one Phase 3 trial (MYR301 [NCT03852719]) were pooled (N = 269). Patients were grouped as follows: BLV 2 mg (n = 64), BLV 10 mg (n = 115), pegylated interferon-alfa (n = 39) and control (n = 51).

Background: The associations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level and functionality with lipid metabolism, inflammation, and innate immunity in coronary artery disease (CAD) remain controversial. The differential expression of a set of genes related to HDL metabolism (24 genes) and atherogenesis (41 genes) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from CAD and control patients with varied HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) levels was compared.
Methods: 76 male patients 40-60 years old with CAD diagnosed by angiography and 63 control patients were divided into three groups with low, normal (1.

Unlabelled: Diaphragm dysfunction develops in central nervous system damage, chest injuries, complications of cardiac surgery, long-term artificial lung ventilation, respiratory diseases. Anatomical morphological features of phrenic nerves allow to effectively use electromagnetic stimulation methods for functional recovery of the diaphragm in different pathological conditions. Invasive and non-invasive, electric and magnetic methods of stimulation are used depending on the severity of manifestations of the diaphragm dysfunction and its genesis.

Background: Coinfection with hepatitis D virus (HDV) accelerates the progression of liver disease associated with chronic hepatitis B. Bulevirtide inhibits the entry of HDV into hepatocytes.
Methods: In this ongoing phase 3 trial, patients with chronic hepatitis D, with or without compensated cirrhosis, were randomly assigned, in a 1:1:1 ratio, to receive bulevirtide subcutaneously at 2 mg per day (2-mg group) or 10 mg per day (10-mg group) for 144 weeks or to receive no treatment for 48 weeks followed by bulevirtide subcutaneously at 10 mg per day for 96 weeks (control group).

The article presents the results of neuropsychological remote and face-to-face testing of 25 children aged 12 to 17 years in the nearest (during and 1-2 weeks after the treatment) and later period (2-12 months) after COVID-19 infection with predominant respiratory tract infection, organized in Ekaterinburg in the State Autonomous Institution "Children's Hospital № 8". Indication of family contact with patients with a new coronavirus infection was found in all patients, a positive nasopharyngeal swab for SARS-CoV-2 RNA by PCR was found in 58%, non-focal neurological complaints were found in 54% of children. The control group consisted of 25 pupils of Moscow comprehensive schools (14 girls and 11 boys) aged between 12 and 16 years who were examined before the pandemic.

The characteristic resistance of dorsopathies to conventional therapy explains the attention to new technologies that combine several therapeutic links and, in particular, ozone therapy. The study involved 90 patients under the age of 55 in the exacerbation phase of lumbar and sacrum dorsopathy with the leading vascular component. The patients were divided into three groups, in which basic medical and physical treatment was given.

Insulinomatosis is characterized by monohormonality of multiple macro-tumors and micro-tumors that arise synchronously and metachronously in all regions of the pancreas, and often recurring hypoglycemia. One of the main characteristics of insulinomatosis is the presence of insulin-expressing monohormonal endocrine cell clusters that are exclusively composed of proliferating insulin-positive cells, are less than 1 mm in size, and show solid islet-like structure. It is presumed that insulinomatosis affects the entire population of β-cells.

COVID-19 patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) have an immune imbalance when systemic inflammation and dysfunction of circulating T and B cells lead to a more severe disease. Using TREC/KREC analysis, we studied the level of mature naive T and B cells in peripheral blood of COVID-19 patients and its relationship with clinical and laboratory data. TREC/KREC analysis was performed by multiplex real-time quantitative PCR on a sample of 36 patients aged 45 years or younger.

The association between cancer risk and schizophrenia is widely debated. Despite many epidemiological studies, there is still no strong evidence regarding the molecular basis for the comorbidity between these two pathological conditions. The vast majority of assays have been performed using clinical records of schizophrenic patients or those undergoing cancer treatment and monitored for sufficient time to find shared features between the considered conditions.

It is known that the oral cavity is an epidemiological hazard due to the high level of viral and bacterial contamination. Despite the narrow specialization and distant connection with the problem of viral pneumonia, dentists, nevertheless, are at risk of contracting the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. To reduce the epidemiological activity the provision of routine dental care was suspended in the vast majority of regions of the Russian Federation including the Moscow region, from the end of March 2020 to June 20, 2020.

Treatment of osteoarticular pathology with an alternating electromagnetic field (AEMF) is used today as a promising, non-invasive and safe strategy of physiotherapy. It has been shown that the action of alternating electromagnetic fields on the musculoskeletal system triggers signaling cascades that effectively contribute to the restoration of bone and articular tissue. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the cellular and subcellular effects of stimulation by an alternating electromagnetic field during the restoration of bone and articular tissue are considered.

Unlabelled: Prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis based on patient urine analysis provides non-invasive and promising method as compared to biopsy and a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. This study was conceived to investigate whether Integrin alpha V (ITGAV) protein is present in urine and assess the urinary ITGAV diagnostic potential for PCa.
Materials And Methods: Urinary ITGAV expression was determined by Western blot analysis and quantified by ELISA in urine from men with PCa (n = 47), benign prostate hyperplasia (n = 42) and age-matched controls (n = 22).
The parathyroid glands (PTGs) are a key regulator of calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the human body. In terms of their, morphological and immunophenotypic characteristics, PTGs are neuroendocrine organs, and their neoplasms are neuroendocrine tumors. These neoplasms include adenoma and cancer; in addition, glandular hyperplasia may develop, which is most characteristic of multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN1, MEN2a, and MEN4) syndromes.

Aging is a very complex process, resulting in dysregulation of multiple systems. The most prominent changes in immunological function, termed «immunosenescence», are diminished immune response against infection, increased levels of pro-inflammatory mediators and increased risk of autoimmunity. Immunoscenescence is accompanied by the low-grade aseptic inflammation observed commonly in elderly people - «inflammaging», which is associated with a higher incidence of chronic non-infectious age-associated diseases.

Muscular thin films (MTFs), have already found a variety of applications in cardiac tissue engineering and in building of lab-on-a-chip systems. Here we present a novel approach to label-free mapping of excitation waves in the cardiomyocyte cell cultures with the use of MTFs. Neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes were cultured on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) thin films and observed by means of off-axis illumination.

Subcutaneous injection of these particles into the defect area accelerated wound healing and promoted re-epithelialization and recovery of normal structure of the epidermis. In addition, the composite microparticles promoted the formation of connective tissue of characteristic structure, replacing the derma over the entire defect, and stimulated regeneration of subcutaneous muscle (panniculus carnosus) and skin appendages (sebaceous glands and hair follicles).
