A first-level textile-based electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system referred to as "CardioS" (cardiac sensor) for continuous health monitoring applications is proposed in this study to address the demand for resource-constrained environments. and the signal quality assessment of a wireless CardioS was studied. The CardioS consists of a Lead-I ECG signal recorded wirelessly using silver-plated nylon woven (Ag-NyW) dry textile electrodes to compare the results of wired wearable Ag-NyW textile electrode-based ECG acquisition system and CardioS.

Motivation: Cardiologists rely on the long duration Holter electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings in general for assessment of abnormal episodes and such process found to be tedious and time consuming. An automatic abnormal cardiac episode detection algorithm is the need of the hour that needs to be optimized to reduce the manual burden.
Objective: The current study presents a signal processing framework with a cross-database to detect abnormal episodes in long-term ECG signals.

Background: Plant alkaloids remain an essential part of many chemotherapeutic regimens. Although many adverse effects have been studied with appropriate management guidelines, extravasation (EV) is one adverse event that is yet to be studied at a regional scale to frame population-specific guidelines.
Methodology: A hospital-based observational study was done for 1 year to understand the extent of extravasation among patients on parenteral plant alkaloids.

Background: Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) is one of the principle therapies for coronary artery disease, as it improves survival rate and quality of life (QoL). Polypropylene suture is commonly used in vascular and cardiac surgeries for anastomosis due to its long-term tensile strength and minimal tissue trauma. This study compared the clinical equivalence of Trulene® (Healthium Medtech Limited) and Prolene® (Ethicon-Johnson & Johnson) polypropylene sutures regarding incidence of myocardial infarction, stroke, renal failure and cardiac death (MACCE) occurring up to 26 weeks' period post-CABG surgery.

Background: The incidence of postoperative recall under total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is not yet fully established. Avoidance of inhalational agent is a known risk factor for awareness. In addition, lack of reliable technique to monitor drug concentration needed for adequate depth of anesthesia makes TIVA challenging.

Background: Peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) are frequently used in clinical settings for intravenous access. Multiple attempts of PIVC insertions leads to patient discomfort, delay in treatment, associated complications, and extensive expenditure cost. Reduced number of attempts causes patient/nursing personnel satisfaction and expenditure costs.

Alpha-2 adrenergic agonists like clonidine and dexmedetomidine prolong the duration of postoperative analgesia and improve the quality of subarachnoid block (SAB) when used as adjuvant in various routes. However, addition of these drugs by IV or intrathecal routes are known to cause hemodynamic instability. The subcutaneous (SC) route provides similar efficacy as IV administration with less hemodynamic instability and prolonged effect.

A quadrivalent split-virion inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4; Fluzone® Quadrivalent, Sanofi Pasteur) has been available in the US since 2013 for individuals aged ≥ 6 months. Here, we describe the results of an open-label, multicenter trial (WHO Universal Trial Number U1111-1143-8370) evaluating the immunogenicity and safety of IIV4 in Indian children aged 6-35 months and 3-8 years, adolescents aged 9-17 years, and adults aged ≥ 18 years (n = 100 per group). Post-vaccination hemagglutination inhibition titers for all strains in all age groups were ≥ 8 fold higher than at baseline (range, 8-51).

Purpose: To quantify and compare dose-volume and dose-length parameters of cervical esophagus between three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and to correlate with incidence of cervical strictures in head and neck cancer irradiation with radical intent.
Materials And Methods: Forty consecutive head and neck cancer patients who received radical radiation therapy, either with 3DCRT (n = 20) or IMRT (n = 20), between December 2011 and August 2012 were retrospectively analyzed and followed up for at least 4 years post-treatment completion.
Results: The volumes of cervical esophagus receiving ≥54 Gy (V54) and ≥60 Gy (V60) and lengths receiving circumferential dose of ≥50 Gy (L50) and ≥54 Gy (L54) were significantly higher in patients treated with IMRT as compared to 3DCRT (P ≤ .

There have been no published recommendations for the management of low-risk chest pain in emergency departments (EDs) across India. This is despite the fact that chest pain continues to be one of the most common presenting complaints in EDs. Risk stratification of patients utilizing an accelerated diagnostic protocol has been shown to decrease hospitalizations by approximately 40% with a low 30-day risk of major adverse cardiac events.
