The solar response ability and low-cost fabrication of the photoanode are important factors for the effective output of the photoelectrochemical system. Modification of the photoanode by which its ability to absorb irradiation can be manipulated has gained tremendous attention. Here, we demonstrated the MoSe, WSe, and MoSe/WSe nanocrystal thin films prepared by the liquid-phase exfoliated and electrophoresis methods.

Thiomers have recently attracted attention as effective adsorbents for Hg. In the present study a chitosan- thiobarbituric acid based thiomer(CTG) was investigated as a potential adsorbent for elemental mercury (Hg°), inorganic mercury (Hg) and methyl mercury (CHHg). CTG was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).

The 2004 Sumatra-Andaman tsunami emphasized the catastrophic nature of such disasters and exposed our knowledge gap of the historical and palaeo events. In the aftermath of this deadly event, the thrust in palaeotsunami studies was restricted to areas in the Indian Ocean, affected by this tsunami. The northern Arabian Sea, which hosts a similar tsunamigenic source i.

Acylated chitosan (Myristoyl and Octanoyl) coated paclitaxel-loaded liposomal formulation was developed with an aim to overcome the cremophor EL related toxicities. They were evaluated for drug entrapment, in vitro drug release, and cytotoxicity and cell uptake behavior using A549 cells. The Tc radio-labeled formulations were also evaluated in vivo in Ehrlich Ascites Tumor (EAT) bearing mice for biodistribution and tumor uptake.

Digital holographic microscopy is the state of the art quantitative phase imaging of micro-objects including living cells. It is an ideal tool to image and quantify cell thickness profiles with nanometer thickness resolution. Digital holographic techniques usually are implemented using a two-beam setup that may be bulky and may not be field portable.

In the current study, we have constructed receptor-based pharmacophore models by exploiting the Plasmodium falciparum enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (PfENR) structural proteome. The derived models were subjected to a series of validation procedures to list the representative hypotheses that can be used for the screening of the Drug-like Diverse Database. A set of 739 molecules was retrieved and analyzed for the adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) and drug-likeness attributes.

MeCP2 (methyl-CpG binding protein 2), an epigenetic regulator, has been shown to regulate the function of neurons and glial cells. Our previous study has demonstrated that MeCP2 repress the myelin gene expression in rat oligodendrocytes but whether MeCP2 bind to myelin gene MBP and PLP is not yet known. Besides oligodendrocytes, C6 glioma also expresses myelin genes and could be used as a model system to study myelin gene expression.

The role of mitochondria is emerging in regulation of innate immunity, inflammation and cell death beyond its primary role in energy metabolism. Mitochondria act as molecular platform for immune adaptor protein complexes, which participate in innate immune signaling. The mitochondrial localized immune adaptors are widely expressed in non-immune cells, however their role in regulation of mitochondrial function and metabolic adaption is not well understood.

avMethyl‑CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) is an epigenetic regulator, which preferentially binds to methylated CpG dinucleotides in DNA. MeCP2 mutations have been linked to Rett syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by severe intellectual disability in females. Earlier studies indicated that loss of MeCP2 function in neuronal cells was the sole cause of Rett syndrome.

p53 plays a central role in prevention of normal cell from the development of the malignant phenotype. Somatic alterations (mutations, loss of heterozygosity, deletions) in p53 are a hallmark of most human cancers and cause defects in normal p53 function. However, in the tumors harboring wild-type p53, there are alterations in the regulation of the p53.

Herein we report design, synthesis, and anticancer activity of compounds 6a-h and 11a-j. Compounds 6a-f were designed based on 3-aminomethyl pyridine attached to different acetamide derivatives and in compounds 6g-h it was attached to coumarin moiety. Coumarin containing compounds 6g-h showed very poor anticancer activity against both A549 (Lungs cancer cell line), and MCF-7 (Breast cancer cell line) cell lines in MTT assay.

Recently predicted and grown new single element two dimensional (2D) material borophene gathered tremendous research interest due to its structural, electronic and other properties. Using first principles based dispersion corrected density functional calculations, we have studied interaction of two toxic gases phosgene (COCl) and carbon monoxide (CO) with borophene to understand the role of borophene as biosensor and carriers in drug delivery. The sensing behaviour of borophene towards COCl and CO has been studied by calculating the binding energy and electronic density of states (DOS).

Understanding the interactions between biomolecules and boron nitride nanostructures is key for their use in nanobiotechnology and medical engineering. In this study, we investigated the adsorption of nucleobases adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), thymine (T) and uracil (U) over armchair and zigzag boron nitride nanoribbons (BNNR) using density functional theory to define the applicability of BNNR for the sensing of nucleobases and DNA sequencing. To appropriately account for dispersion, the van der Waals forces (DFT-D2)-type method developed by Grimme was also included in the calculations.

Pesticide exposure to the non target groups especially during embryonic development has quite often resulted in congenital malformations. A commercially available combination insecticide (Ci, 50% chlorpyrifos and 5% cypermethrin) is known to induce ventral body wall defects (VBWDs) wherein abdominal viscera protrude out of the ventral body wall. Herein, an attempt was made to understand the mechanistic insight into Ci induced VBWDs.

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) are among abundantly used metal oxide NPs but their interactions with biomolecules and subsequent embryonic toxicity in higher vertebrates is not extensively reported. Physicochemical interactions of TiO NPs with egg albumen reveals that lower doses of TiO NPs (10 and 25 µg/ml) accounted for higher friccohesity and activation energy but an increment in molecular radii was recorded at higher doses (50 and 100 µg/ml). FTIR analysis revealed conformational changes in secondary structure of egg albumen as a result of electrostratic interactions between egg albumen and TiO NPs.
