Adaptation of Saccadic Sequences with and without Remapping.

Front Hum Neurosci

August 2016

Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon (CRNL), ImpAct team, Inserm U1028, CNRS UMR 5292, Lyon1 University Bron, France.

It is relatively easy to adapt visually-guided saccades because the visual vector and the saccade vector match. The retinal error at the saccade landing position is compared to the prediction error, based on target location and efference copy. If these errors do not match, planning processes at the level(s) of the visual and/or motor vector processing are assumed to be inaccurate and the saccadic response is adjusted.

Culture medium pH influence on Gluconacetobacter physiology: Cellulose production rate and yield enhancement in presence of multiple carbon sources.

Carbohydr Polym

August 2016

LBMI, Department of Physics, Lebanese University, Faculty of Sciences II, PO Box 90656, Jdeidet, Lebanon; PRASE, Platform of Research and Analysis in Environmental Sciences, Doctoral School of Sciences and Technologies, Lebanese University, PO Box 5, Hadat, Lebanon.

Gluconacetobacter genera are valued for bacterial cellulose (BC) and acetic acid production. BC is produced at optimal yields in classical microbiological media that are expensive for a large scale of production. In addition, BC usage for industrial purposes is limited due to low conversion rate into cellulose and to long incubation duration.

Article Synopsis
  • * Data from 333 patients showed that taxane therapy significantly improved overall and progression-free survival compared to nontaxane therapy, even among frail patients, and was generally well tolerated with specific side effects.
  • * The findings indicate that taxane therapy may be more beneficial for older adults with mCRPC than other treatments, and treatment decisions should not solely rely on a patient's age.

Central Nervous System Underpinnings of Sensory Hypersensitivity in Migraine: Insights from Neuroimaging and Electrophysiological Studies.

Headache

October 2016

Neurological Hospital Pierre Wertheimer: Functional Neurology and Epilepsy Department, Hospices Civils de Lyon and Claude Bernard Lyon1 University, Lyon, France, and Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (CRNL), Neuropain team, INSERM U1028, CNRS UMR5292, Lyon, France.

Whereas considerable data have been generated about the pathophysiology of pain processing during migraine attacks, relatively little is known about the neural basis of sensory hypersensitivity. In migraine, the term "hypersensitivity" encompasses different and probably distinct pathophysiological aspects of sensory sensitivity. During attacks, many patients have enhanced sensitivity to visual, auditory and/or olfactory stimuli, which can enhance headache while interictally, migraineurs often report abnormal sensitivity to environmental stimuli that can cause nonpainful discomfort.

Hormonal treatment increases the response of the reward system at the menopause transition: a counterbalanced randomized placebo-controlled fMRI study.

Psychoneuroendocrinology

December 2014

Reward and Decision Making' Group, Cognitive Neuroscience Center, CNRS, UMR 5229, Lyon1 University, 67 Bd Pinel, 69675 Bron, France. Electronic address:

Preclinical research using rodent models demonstrated that estrogens play neuroprotective effects if they are administered during a critical period near the time of cessation of ovarian function. In women, a number of controversial epidemiological studies reported that a neuroprotective effect of estradiol may be obtained on cognition and mood-related disorders if hormone therapy (HT) begins early at the beginning of menopause. Yet, little is known about the modulatory effects of early HT administration on brain activation near menopause.

Background: We identified a case of quinolone allergic hypersensitivity associated with quaternary ammonium (QA) sensitization, the allergic determinant of neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs). Concomitant sensitization to several chemically different drugs is rarely reported and raises the question of a nonfortuitous association.

Objective: We evaluated a potential association between quinolone immediate allergic hypersensitivity and NMBA sensitization.
