Meditation dosage predicts self- and teacher-perceived responsiveness to an 18-month randomised controlled trial.

Understanding the factors that predict why some individuals perceive to respond more to meditation training than others could impact the development, efficacy, adherence levels, and implementation of meditation-based interventions. We investigated individual-level variables associated with self- and teacher-perceived responsiveness to longer-term meditation training. This study presents a secondary analysis of the Age-Well trial (NCT02977819, 30/11/2016) and includes 90 healthy older adults (65-84 years) that were randomised to an 18-month meditation training or a non-native language (English) training.

Assessing the real-world effectiveness of 8 major metastatic breast cancer drugs using target trial emulation.

Background: Demonstration of trial emulation ability to benchmark randomised controlled trials (RCTs) from real-world data (RWD) is required to increase confidence in the use of routinely collected data for decision making in oncology.

Methods: To assess the frequency with which emulation findings align with RCTs regarding effect size on overall survival (OS) in metastatic breast cancer (MBC), 8 of 13 pre-selected pivotal RCTs in MBC were emulated using data from 32,598 patients enrolled in the French ESME-MBC cohort between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2021. Adjustment methods and confounders were selected a priori for each emulation; stabilized weight was the reference method to mitigate confounding.

Intraoperative patellar tracking assessment during image-based robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty: technical note and reliability study.

Introduction: Restoration of the anterior knee compartment is increasingly studied with the development of personalized surgery. However, evaluating the patellar tracking during the surgery is still subjective and at the surgeon's discretion. This study aimed 1) to describe the assessment of the patellar tracking during robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA), 2) to describe a new measurement technique for evaluating the evolution of this patellar tracking, and 3) to assess its reliability and repeatability.

Cost and benefit of parafoveal information during reading acquisition as revealed by finger movement patterns.

Contrary to expert readers, children learning to read have limited ability to preprocess letters in parafoveal vision. Parafoveal letters induce crowding cost: the features of neighboring letters interfere with target letter identification. We longitudinally studied the weight of parafoveal cost and benefit in two group of children (N = 42), during their first school year (Group 1) and at the end of second school year (Groupe 2).

Conditional Pten inactivation in pituitary results in sex-specific prolactinoma formation.

Pituitary tumors, including prolactinomas, present significant clinical challenges that require a deeper understanding of their molecular roots for improved diagnostics and therapies. Here, we investigate the role of the phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)/phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway in pituitary tumorigenesis using a mouse model. Conditional knockout of Pten in all pituitary cell lineages resulted in prolactinoma formation exclusively in female mice, demonstrating the critical role of PTEN in pituitary homeostasis.

Bias related to overweight and obesity among French psychiatrists: Results of a national survey.

Background: According to people with a higher weight, physicians are the second most stigmatizing group related to excess weight. As a result of these weight-related biases, the therapeutic relationship with the patient and the quality of care would be negatively affected. In addition, this stigma could negatively impact the clinical practice related to higher weight and avoidance of care.

Patellar morphology is different in patellofemoral instability: An MRI comparative case-control study.

Purpose: Although patellofemoral instability (PFI) affects both femoral and patellar compartments, literature provided little attention for the patellar morphology contribution on PFI. This study evaluates the patellar morphology patterns on MRI to establish their contribution in PFI.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzes patellar MRI and X-ray measurements performed between 2018 and 2022.

Real-world data for marginal zone lymphoma patients in the French REALYSA cohort: The REALMA study.

Marginal Zone Lymphoma (MZL) comprises three subtypes: extranodal MZL (EMZL), splenic MZL (SMZL) and nodal MZL (NMZL). Since clinical trials have limited representativeness, there is a need for real-world data (RWD) evidence in MZL. Real-world data in Lymphoma and survival in Adults (REALYSA) is a prospective multicentric French cohort of newly diagnosed lymphoma patients.

Methods: An online questionnaire with one open-ended question, asking physicians to describe clinical situations in which they personalized care, was used. Physicians were recruited from March 31, 2023, to August 10, 2023, from three hospitals, five university departments of general practice and six physician organizations in France.

DNA methylation as a new tool for the differential diagnosis between T-LBL and lymphocyte-rich thymoma.

T-lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) and thymoma are two rare primary tumors of the thymus deriving either from T-cell precursors or from thymic epithelial cells, respectively. Some thymoma subtypes (AB, B1, and B2) display numerous reactive terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-positive (TdT) T-cell precursors masking epithelial tumor cells. Therefore, the differential diagnosis between T-LBL and TdT T-lymphocyte-rich thymoma could be challenging, especially in the case of needle biopsy.

Is outpatient joint arthroplasty safe in a high volume academic centre? A retrospective monocentric study using an institutional pathway.

Purpose: Hip and knee arthroplasties are daily procedures in orthopaedic departments. Recently, same-day discharge (SDD) became increasingly popular, but doubts remain about its safety and generalization. Our hypothesis is that outpatient arthroplasty, in a high volume centre and with an institutional protocol, is an effective and reliable practice.
