Importance: Early discharge after colorectal surgery has been advocated. However, there is little research evaluating clinical and/or laboratory criteria to determine who can be safely discharged early.
Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of a C-reactive protein (CRP) level combined with 4 clinical criteria in ruling out an anastomotic leak and therefore allowing an early discharge on postoperative day 2 or 3.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of Lymphovascular Space Invasion (LVSI) on Overall Survival (OS) and Recurrence-Free Survival (RFS) in patients managed for high-grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer (HGSOC).
Materials And Methods: Retrospective multicenter study by the FRANCOGYN research group between January 2001 and December 2018. All patients managed for HGSOC and for whom histological slides for the review of LVSI were available, were included.

The NLRC4 inflammasome is part of the human immune innate system. Its activation leads to the cleavage of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18, promoting inflammation. gain-of-function (GOF) mutations have been associated with early-onset recurrent fever, recurrent macrophagic activation syndrome and enterocolitis.

WT1 overexpression is frequently identified in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and has been reported to be a potential marker for monitoring measurable residual disease (MRD). We evaluated the use of postinduction WT1 MRD level as a prognostic factor, as well as the interaction between postinduction WT1 MRD response and the effect of allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) in the first complete remission (CR). In the ALFA-0702 trial, patients with AML, aged 18 to 59, had a prospective quantification of WT1 MRD.

Background: The presence of lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) is not yet included in international recommendations neither as a prognostic factor nor as a parameter for the decision to use adjuvant chemotherapy in FIGO stage I/IIa ovarian cancer (OC).
Objective: This study set out to evaluate the impact of LVSI on Overall Survival (OS) and Recurrence-Free Survival (RFS) in patients managed for epithelial OC.
Design: Retrospective multicenter study by the research group FRANCOGYN between January 2001 and December 2018.

Follicular lymphomas (FLs) with MYC rearrangements (MYC-R) and extra copies of MYC (MYC-EC) are rare and the prognosis impact is uncertain. We conducted a retrospective study including 321 FL patients, among whom 259 (81%) had no 8q24 alterations and 62 (19%) were assigned to 8qAlt. Forty-five cases were classified as MYC-EC and six as MYC-R.

IntroductionThe contribution of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) to mortality can be estimated using statistical methods, but mortality review (MR) is better suited for routine use in clinical settings. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control recently introduced MR into its HAI surveillance.AimWe evaluate validity and reproducibility of three MR measures.

Aim: Altered sense of smell and/or taste is a leading symptom of SARS-CoV-2 infection, but its prevalence at a population-level is unknown.
Methods: From a questionnaire addressed to a representative subset of the French general adult (≥18-year) population over a 6-week period during the first French lockdown (April 7 to May 19 2020), self-reported new cases of altered sense of smell and/or taste were collected.
Results: From 29,660 participants, new altered sense of smell and/or taste was 2.

Background: Cytotoxic chemotherapy (CC) is currently used in metastatic melanoma after patients have developed resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and/or Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase inhibitors (MAPKi). We sought to evaluate if a previous treatment by ICI or MAPKi influences clinical outcomes in patients treated by CC in metastatic melanoma.
Methods: Eighty-eight patients with a metastatic melanoma, treated by CC after a previous treatment by ICI or MAPKi between January 2009 and October 2019, were retrospectively analyzed.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of immature myeloid cells with immunosuppressive properties. In cancer patients, the expression of lectin-type oxidized LDL receptor 1 (LOX-1) on granulocytic MDSC identifies a subset of MDSC that retains the most potent immunosuppressive properties. The main objective of the present work was to explore the presence of LOX-1+ MDSC in bacterial and viral sepsis.

The diagnosis of menopause is sometimes difficult. The objective of this chapter is to describe the process of diagnosing menopause in a physiological situation, then in different clinical situations: women using hormonal contraception (per os, implant or intrauterine device), women with a history of hysterectomy, women previously treated for cancer. A review of the literature was carried out via Pubmed, Medline and Cochrane Library.

Introduction: Surgical management of Diaphragmatic and thoracic endometriosis (DTE) is still controversial, a thoracic or an abdominal approach can be proposed.
Methods: We conducted a multicentric retrospective study in 8 thoracic, gynecology or digestive surgery units in 5 French university hospitals. The main objective was to review the current management of DTE.

Food oral immunotherapy (OIT) is a promising treatment for persistent and severe food allergies (FAs) in children, but also for accelerating tolerance to cow's milk and cooked egg in young children. In the near future, pediatricians will increasingly encounter severely allergic children undergoing FA-OIT. FA-OIT consists in daily ingestion of increasing doses of the allergen during the up-dosing phase, and ingestion of a constant dose during the maintenance phase.

Objective: The benefit of preventive treatment for superior mesenteric artery (SMA) stenosis remains uncertain. The latest European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) guidelines remain unclear given the lack of data in the literature. The aim of this study was to evaluate asymptomatic SMA stenosis prognosis according to the presence of associated coeliac artery (CA) and/or inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) stenosis.

Unlabelled: This study looked at whether epidermal growth factor receptor inhibition by the monoclonal antibody panitumumab could increase the efficacy of standard chemotherapy in advanced urothelial cancer. Results were disappointing, with higher toxicity and no improvement in efficacy in the combination arm.
Background: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) overexpression is frequent and associated with poor outcome in urothelial carcinoma.

Background: The current pathological tumour-node-metastasis (pTNM) classification for upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) does not include any risk stratification of pT3 renal pelvicalyceal tumours.
Objective: To assess the prognostic impact of pT3 subclassification in a multicentre cohort of patients with UTUC of the renal pelvicalyceal system undergoing radical nephroureterectomy (RNU).
Design, Setting, And Participants: Data from all consecutive patients treated with RNU for pT3 renal pelvicalyceal UTUC at 14 French centres from 1995 to 2013 were reviewed retrospectively.

Polypoid endometriosis is a rare form of endometriosis that corresponds to a benign variant but which systematically mimics malignant tumors. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the preferred imaging modality for these lesions. We present herein a case of a 43-year-old female with recent pelvic pain and longstanding dyspareunia related to polypoid endometriosis of the Douglas pouch.
