Background: A 10-day dexamethasone regimen has emerged as the internationally adopted standard-of-care for severe COVID-19 patients. However, the immune response triggered by SARS-CoV-2 infection remains a complex and dynamic phenomenon, leading to various immune profiles and trajectories. The immune status of severe COVID-19 patients following complete dexamethasone treatment has yet to be thoroughly documented.

Idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel), a chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), received early access program (EAP) authorization in France in April 2021 for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). We conducted a real-world registry-based multicentre observational study in 11 French hospitals to evaluate ide-cel outcomes. Data from 176 RRMM patients who underwent apheresis between June 2021 and November 2022 were collected from the French national DESCAR-T registry.

Purpose: Return to work (RTW) is important for quality of life after breast cancer but its analysis at the population-level remains limited in France. This study aimed to implement Electronic Healthcare Data (EHD)-based indicators and trajectories to measure RTW after breast cancer diagnosis, and to examine stakeholders' perspectives regarding these indicators.
Methods: We followed a mixed-methods approach that consisted of (i) implementing RTW indicators and identifying clusters of trajectories using state sequence analysis with data from a representative sample of the French National Health Data System and (ii) exploring, through qualitative focus group and interviews, stakeholders' perceptions on the interpretation, limitations, and utility of these indicators.

Objective: Patients with superficial peritoneal endometriosis (SPE) present with symptoms suggestive of endometriosis but clinical and imaging exams are inconclusive. Consequently, laparoscopy is usually necessary to confirm diagnosis. The present study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of microRNAs (miRNAs) to diagnose patients with SPE from the ENDOmiARN cohort STUDY DESIGN: This prospective study (NCT04728152) included 200 saliva samples obtained between January and June 2021 from women with pelvic pain suggestive of endometriosis.

Crohn disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease whose pathogenesis involves inappropriate immune responses toward gut microbiota on genetically predisposed backgrounds. Notably, CD is associated with single-nucleotide polymorphisms affecting several genes involved in macroautophagy/autophagy, the catabolic process that ensures the degradation and recycling of cytosolic components and microorganisms. In a clinical translation perspective, monitoring the autophagic activity of CD patients will require some knowledge on the intrinsic functional status of autophagy.

Background: Although several prognostic factors in GIST have been well studied such as tumour size, mitotic rate, or localization, the influence of microscopic margins or R1 resection remains controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of R1 resection on the prognosis of GIST in a large multicentre retrospective series of patients.
Methods: From 2001 to 2013, 1413 patients who underwent surgery for any site of GIST were identified from 61 European centers.

Endometriosis is a common crippling disease in women of reproductive age. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is considered the cornerstone radiological technique for both the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. While its sensitivity, especially in deep infiltrating endometriosis, is superior to that of ultrasonography, many sources of false-positive results exist, leading to a lack of specificity.

Background: Cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is an effective treatment for peritoneal metastases. However, HIPEC with cisplatin is associated with renal toxicity. Sodium thiosulfate (ST) has been shown to prevent cisplatin-induced toxicity.

Background: The Emergency unit of the hospital (Department) (ED) is the fastest and most common way for most French general practitioners (GPs) to respond to the complexity of managing older adults patients with multiple chronic diseases. In 2013, French regional health authorities proposed to set up telephone hotlines to promote interactions between GP clinics and hospitals. The main objective of our study was to analyze whether the hotlines and solutions proposed by the responding geriatrician reduced the number of hospital admissions, and more specifically the number of emergency room admissions.

Background: Today, most women with gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) can expect to be cured, particularly if they live in middle- to high-income countries with access to GTD centres. In contrast, countries lacking organized GTD care achieve lower survival rates.
Objectives: The aim of the study was to review and consider some of the successes and areas for improvement in GTD care that have been achieved through national and international collaborations.

Optimizing anticancer treatment and medication therapy in older patients with cancer requires a multidisciplinary approach, with a strong collaboration between geriatricians, oncologists and pharmacists. While all patients can benefit, some clinical situations seem to be high-priority. Careful attention should be given to patients with cardiovascular comorbidities and/or diabetes, which are prone to decompensate during anticancer treatment and often involve multiple medications.

Background: Tissue-resident memory T (T ) cells are detrimental in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), in which they contribute to the chronicity and severity of the disease.
Methods: We assessed the impact of a standard topical corticosteroid (TCS) treatment, triamcinolone acetonide (TA), on the formation, maintenance and reactivation of epidermal T cells in a preclinical model of ACD to 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene. TA 0.

Therapeutic applications of nuclease-based genome editing would benefit from improved methods for transgene integration via homology-directed repair (HDR). To improve HDR efficiency, we screened six small-molecule inhibitors of DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs), a key protein in the alternative repair pathway of non-homologous end joining (NHEJ), which generates genomic insertions/deletions (INDELs). From this screen, we identified AZD7648 as the most potent compound.

Purpose: Many concerns have been raised about adverse effects related to Essure device. Several pathophysiological hypotheses have been proposed including allergic reactions, Autoimmune/Autoinflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants, galvanic corrosion with release of heavy metals and inflammation. In the present study, we aimed to focus on inflammation process by performing a histopathological evaluation of Fallopian tubes in symptomatic patients with Essure removal.
