Percutaneous screw fixation and cementoplasty of metastatic sternal fracture: Descriptions of 2 cases.

Secondary lesions and hemopathy localized in sternal bone may be responsible for persistent pain and resistant to classical analgesics. Surgical treatment is not applicable in these cases. We report on 2 cases of sternal osteosynthesis by internal cemented screw fixation, under fluoroscopy and CT scan control, without complication and with clear, immediate reduction of pain.

Economic burden in non-Hodgkin lymphoma survivors: The French Lymphoma Study Association SIMONAL cross-sectional study.

Background: No study has focused on the economic burden in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) survivors, even though this knowledge is essential. This study reports on health care resource use and associated health care costs as well as related factors in a series of 1671 French long-term NHL survivors.

Background: Long-term survivors of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) must cope with treatment complications and late toxicities that affect their health-related quality of life. Little is known about the risk-to-benefit ratio of new agents like rituximab. Mobile-bearing insert translational and rotational kinematics in a PCL-retaining total knee arthroplasty.

Introduction: Total knee prostheses with a mobile-bearing insert were developed to provide nonconstrained joint range of motion while reducing friction forces. The purpose of this study was, based on weightbearing X-rays, to evaluate the mobility of the polyethylene tibial insert in relation to the femoral and tibial components. We studied the results of a cementless total knee arthroplasty (TKA) retaining the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), with a mobile-bearing platform in rotation and anteroposterior translation (Innex Anterior-Posterior Glide, Zimmer) with a mean 23-month follow-up duration after surgery.

Cross-sectional study of pain and disability at knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis in 299 patients.

Objective: To evaluate pain and disability at the time of knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis.

Methods: In this multicenter cross-sectional study, 299 patients at 12 orthopedic surgery centers in Lyon, France were evaluated on the day before knee replacement surgery. Pain severity was assessed on a visual analog scale (VAS) and function using the Lequesne index and the Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC).
