Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are critical regulators in the progression of tumors. This experimental design aimed to explore the mechanism of circ-10720 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: We used RT-qPCR to measure circ-10720 expression in clinical samples and analyzed its relationship with the clinicopathological characteristics of NSCLC patients.

Introduction: Pulmonary metastasectomy has been clarified in improving long-term survival in most primary malignancies with pulmonary metastasis, while the role of additional lymph node dissection remained controversial. We aimed to investigate the prognosis of lymph node involvement and identify the role of lymph node dissection during pulmonary metastasectomy in a real-world cohort.
Methods: We identified patients diagnosed with pulmonary metastases with ≤3 cm in size and received pulmonary metastasectomy between 2004 and 2017 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database.

Background: Platinum-based chemotherapy is the recommended adjuvant treatment for patients with resectable, -positive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Data on the efficacy and safety of adjuvant alectinib as compared with chemotherapy in patients with resected -positive NSCLC are lacking.
Methods: We conducted a global, phase 3, open-label, randomized trial in which patients with completely resected, -positive NSCLC of stage IB (tumors ≥4 cm), II, or IIIA (as classified according to the seventh edition of the of the American Joint Committee on Cancer and Union for International Cancer Control) were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive oral alectinib (600 mg twice daily) for 24 months or intravenous platinum-based chemotherapy in four 21-day cycles.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a prevalent subtype of lung cancer, yet the contribution of purine metabolism (PM) to its pathogenesis remains poorly elucidated. PM, a critical component of intracellular nucleotide synthesis and energy metabolism, is hypothesized to exert a significant influence on LUAD development. Herein, we employed single-cell analysis to investigate the role of PM within the tumour microenvironment (TME) of LUAD.

Background: Immunotherapy has changed the treatment landscape for lung cancer. This study aims to construct a tumor mutation-related model that combines long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression levels and tumor mutation levels in tumor genomes to detect the possibilities of the lncRNA signature as an indicator for predicting the prognosis and response to immunotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).
Methods: We downloaded the tumor mutation profiles and RNA-seq expression database of LUAD from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Background: Ultra-performance Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) is widely used for concentration detection of many Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (TKIs), including afatinib, crizotinib, and osimertinib. In order to analyze whether pralsetinib takes effect in Rearranged during Transfection (RET)-positive patients with central nervous system metastasis, we aimed to develop a method for the detection of pralsetinib concentrations in human plasma and Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) by UPLC-MS/MS.
Methods: The method was developed using the external standard method, and method validation included precision, accuracy, stability, extraction recovery, and matrix effect.

Background: Thoracic adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is rare, and the differences between tracheal and lung lesions have not been fully understood.
Methods: Patients were identified from a Chinese cancer center (FUSCC) (2005-2022) and the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2000-2019). Incidence was calculated and trends were quantified.

Cutaneous melanoma poses a formidable challenge within the field of oncology, marked by its aggressive nature and capacity for metastasis. Despite extensive research uncovering numerous genetic and molecular contributors to cutaneous melanoma development, there remains a critical knowledge gap concerning the role of lipids, notably low-density lipoprotein (LDL), in this lethal skin cancer. This article endeavours to bridge this knowledge gap by delving into the intricate interplay between LDL metabolism and cutaneous melanoma, shedding light on how lipids influence tumour progression, immune responses and potential therapeutic avenues.

In recent years, various types of immunotherapy, particularly the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death 1 or programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), have revolutionized the management and prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer. PD-L1 is frequently used as a biomarker for predicting the likely benefit of immunotherapy for patients. However, some patients receiving immunotherapy have high response rates despite having low levels of PD-L1.

Objectives: Immune checkpoint blockades (ICB) have been proven to improve prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer in the neoadjuvant setting, while whether its perioperative use could bring extra benefit remained unidentified. We aimed to demonstrate the prognostic benefit of perioperative ICB over preoperative-only use and investigate who could benefit from this 'sandwich ICB therapy'.
Methods: Patients undergoing neoadjuvant therapy followed by surgery from 2018 to 2022 were retrospectively reviewed, and were divided into 4 groups based on the perioperative regimens: pre-ICB + post-computed tomography (CT), pre-ICB-only, pre-CT + post-ICB and pre-CT-only.

Objective: To evaluate whether using a cocktail of intercostal nerve blocks (TINB) during thoracoscopic surgery results in better clinical outcomes than patient-controlled analgesia (PCIA).
Methods: Patients in two medical groups undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for pulmonary nodules in West China Hospital of Sichuan University were collected consecutively between March 2022 and December 2022. The groups were divided into two subgroups based on their analgesic program, which were TINB group and PCIA group.

Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is one of the subtypes of lung cancer (LC) that contributes to approximately 25%-30% of its prevalence. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are key cellular components of the TME, and the large number of CAFs in tumour tissues creates a favourable environment for tumour development. However, the function of CAFs in the LUSC is complex and uncertain.

Tumour-induced immunosuppressive microenvironments facilitate oncogenesis, with regulatory T cells (Tregs) serving as a crucial component. The significance of Treg-associated genes within the context of ovarian cancer (OC) remains elucidated insufficiently. Utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq) for the identification of Treg-specific biomarkers, this investigation employed single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) for the derivation of a Treg signature score.

Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, but inconsistent responses persist. Our study delves into the intriguing phenomenon of enhanced immunotherapy sensitivity in older individuals with cancers. Through a meta-analysis encompassing 25 small-to-mid-sized trials of immune checkpoint blockade (ICB), we demonstrate that older individuals exhibit heightened responsiveness to ICB therapy.

This paper proposes a deep learning algorithm named CoGSPro for classifying lung cancer-related proteins. CoGSPro combines graph neural networks and attention mechanisms to extract key features from protein data and accurately classify proteins. It utilizes large-scale protein expression datasets to train and validate the model, enabling it to identify subtle patterns related to lung cancer.
