Here we intend to shift the "DNA- and information-centric" conception of biological inheritance, with the accompanying exclusion of any non-DNA matter, to a "poly-matter network" framework which, in addition to DNA, considers the action of other cellular membranous constituents. These cellular structures, in particular organelles and plasma membranes, express "landscapes" of specific topologies at their surfaces, which may become altered in response to certain environmental factors. These so-called "membranous environmental landscapes" (MELs), which replicate by self-organization / autopoiesis rather than self-assembly, are transferred from donor to acceptor cells by various - vesicular and non-vesicular - mechanisms and exert novel features in the acceptor cells.

Background: With the advances in high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatic pipelines, mitochondrial genomes have become increasingly popular for phylogenetic analyses across different clades of invertebrates. Despite the vast rise in available mitogenomic datasets of molluscs, one class of aplacophoran molluscs - Solenogastres (or Neomeniomorpha) - is still neglected.

Results: Here, we present six new mitochondrial genomes from five families of Solenogastres (Amphimeniidae, Gymnomeniidae, Proneomeniidae, Pruvotinidae, Simrothiellidae), including the first complete mitogenomes, thereby now representing three of the four traditional orders.

From early on, infants show a preference for infant-directed speech (IDS) over adult-directed speech (ADS), and exposure to IDS has been correlated with language outcome measures such as vocabulary. The present multi-laboratory study explores this issue by investigating whether there is a link between early preference for IDS and later vocabulary size. Infants' preference for IDS was tested as part of the ManyBabies 1 project, and follow-up CDI data were collected from a subsample of this dataset at 18 and 24 months.

Radial cine-MRI allows for sliding window reconstruction at nearly arbitrary frame rate, promising high-speed imaging for intra-fractional motion monitoring in magnetic resonance guided radiotherapy. However, motion within the reconstruction window may determine the location of the reconstructed target to deviate from the true real-time position (target positioning errors), particularly in cases of fast breathing or for anatomical structures affected by the heartbeat. The seeded growth of pathogenic protein aggregates underlies the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but how this pathological cascade is initiated is not fully understood. Sporadic AD is linked genetically to apolipoprotein E (APOE) and other genes expressed in microglia related to immune, lipid, and endocytic functions. We generated a transgenic knockin mouse expressing HaloTag-tagged APOE and optimized experimental protocols for the biochemical purification of APOE, which enabled us to identify fibrillary aggregates of APOE in mice with amyloid-β (Aβ) amyloidosis and in human AD brain autopsies.
