Background: Emergency Medical Service crews are equipped with comprehensive emergency kits for routine care and to provide life-saving interventions in severely ill patients. While guidelines on contents and packing strategies of emergency kits for specific tasks and specialized situations exist, data for the design of out-of-hospital emergency kits in a general urban population is lacking. It may be possible to transfer the promising results of modern in-hospital packing strategies such as task-based package organization (TPO) to an Emergency Medical Service setting.

Objective: It is important to cover energy targets among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) to minimize weight and skeletal muscles loss. This study aimed to assess the agreement between indirect calorimetry (IC) and predictive equations for determining resting energy expenditures (REE) in HNC patients receiving home enteral nutrition (HEN).
Research Methods And Procedures: Patients included in the study had to be diagnosed with HNC, be adults, have artificial access to the digestive tract, and participate in HEN.
Background: Perioperative messengers as tools for hospitals to communicate with patients' loved ones during surgery have been described in form of pagers, SMS, email, and apps. The approach of combining multiple means of communication to create a secure and reliable messenger promises several advantages and has not been investigated to date.
Objective: The aim was to develop and test the technical feasibility and acceptance of a remote hybrid SMS/web-based perioperative messenger that keeps patients' loved ones informed around the time of surgery.

Algae, both micro- and macroalgae, are recognized for their rich repository of bioactive compounds with potential therapeutic applications. These marine organisms produce a variety of secondary metabolites that exhibit significant anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, offering promising avenues for the development of new drugs and nutraceuticals. Algae-derived compounds, including polyphenols, carotenoids, lipids, and polysaccharides, have demonstrated efficacy in modulating key inflammatory pathways, reducing oxidative stress, and inhibiting microbial growth.

Introduction: Chokeberry pomace, rich in polyphenolic compounds, holds potential to be a valuable feed additive for enhancing the antioxidative capacity and overall quality of milk. This study explores the impact of dietary inclusion of chokeberry pomace on oxidative stress parameters and other milk quality parameters in high-producing dairy goats.
Material And Methods: Twenty-seven goats were allocated into three groups: a control group provided standard feed and two experimental groups provided feed supplemented with 15 g or 30 g of chokeberry pomace per kilogram.
Background: In times of demographic change and an immense shortage of qualified personnel in emergency medical services, telemedicine could offer more efficient solutions for better care. Given the community-based nature of emergency services, local communities play an important role. This study explored the expectations of healthcare professionals and volunteers for telemedicine tools in prehospital emergency medicine.

Background: During surgery, intraoperative hypotension is associated with postoperative morbidity and should therefore be avoided. Predicting the occurrence of hypotension in advance may allow timely interventions to prevent hypotension. Previous prediction models mostly use high-resolution waveform data, which is often not available.

Background: Current clinical guidelines support family-centered care in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs). This implies parents should also be involved in the most critical patient safety measures. Hand hygiene is the single most important tool to prevent healthcare-associated infections and related long-term effects.

Ginger ( Roscoe) is broadly used as a traditional remedy and food ingredient, and numerous preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated health benefits in a range of age-related disorders. Moreover, longevity-promoting effects have been demonstrated in several (preclinical) research models. With this work, we aimed to comprehensively review the reported effects of ginger and its bioactive constituents on the twelve established hallmarks of aging, with the ultimate goal of gaining a deeper understanding of the potential for future interventions in the area of longevity-extension and counteracting of aging-related diseases.

The accurate identification of the primary tumor origin in metastatic cancer cases is crucial for guiding treatment decisions and improving patient outcomes. Copy number alterations (CNAs) and copy number variation (CNV) have emerged as valuable genomic markers for predicting the origin of metastases. However, current models that predict cancer type based on CNV or CNA suffer from low AUC values.
