Critical minerals (or critical elements) are minerals or elements that are essential to global security and development and have supply chains vulnerable to disruption. In general, knowledge of the environmental behavior and health effects of critical elements is needed to support the development of safe and environmentally responsible supplies. This knowledge includes identifying potential consequences of increased critical element production and use, alternative critical element sources such as mine wastes, and adverse effects of critical elements on ecosystem condition and organismal health.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common and dose-limiting chemotoxicity caused by oxaliplatin. This study investigated the relationship between dietary quality and the development of moderate and/or severe CIPN in colon cancer survivors using data from the Focus on Reducing Dose-Limiting Toxicities in Colon Cancer with Resistance Exercise trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT03291951).

Background: Bone metastasis is the most common cause of cancer-related pain. Radiation therapy (RT) can provide successful palliation but there is currently no consensus for surveillance after palliative radiation. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of surveillance after RT for painful bone metastases.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a gynecological disorder described by the descent of superior pelvic organs into or out of the vagina as a consequence of disrupted muscles and tissue. A thorough understanding of the etiology of POP is limited by the availability of clinically relevant samples, restricting longitudinal POP studies on soft-tissue biomechanics and structure to POP-induced models such as fibulin-5 knockout ( ) mice. Despite being a principal constituent in the extracellular matrix, little is known about structural perturbations to collagen networks in the mouse cervix.

Long-term immunity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) requires the identification of T-cell epitopes affecting host immunogenicity. In this computational study, we explored the CD8 epitope diversity estimated in 27 of the most common HLA-A and HLA-B alleles, representing most of the United States population. Analysis of 16 SARS-CoV-2 variants [B.

RNA modification serves as a pivotal component in numerous biological processes. Among the prevalent modifications, 5-methylcytosine (m5C) significantly influences mRNA export, translation efficiency and cell differentiation and are also associated with human diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, autoimmune disease, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Identification of m5C is critically responsible for understanding the RNA modification mechanisms and the epigenetic regulation of associated diseases.
