We report a precise measurement of the parity-violating (PV) asymmetry A_{PV} in the elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from ^{48}Ca. We measure A_{PV}=2668±106(stat)±40(syst) parts per billion, leading to an extraction of the neutral weak form factor F_{W}(q=0.8733 fm^{-1})=0.

Background: Both aerobic exercise and whey protein can improve glucose regulation. The purpose of this study was to investigate how a single bout of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise and whey protein, independently, as well as when combined, influence glycemia during an oral glucose tolerance test in sedentary, young men.
Methods: Healthy males (n = 11) completed four randomized trials: no exercise/no whey protein (R); exercise (EX; walking at 70% VO for 60 min); 50 g of whey protein (W); and exercise combined with 50 g of whey protein (EXW).

Volatile lanthanide coordination complexes are critical to the generation of new optical and magnetic materials. One of the most common precursors for preparing volatile lanthanide complexes is the hydrate with the general formula Ln(hfac)(HO) ( = 3 for La-Nd, = 2 for Sm) (hfac = 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetonato). We have investigated the synthesis of Ln(hfac)(HO) using more environmentally sustainable mechanochemical approaches.

This pilot evaluated strategies to decrease detrimental feeding practices in early care and education, which are hypothesized to compete with evidence-based feeding and obesity prevention practices. This study made two key comparisons: (1) a between-site comparison of sites receiving (a) no implementation or de-implementation strategies (i.e.

Imbalances in levels of glutamate (GLU) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and their sub-second signaling dynamics occur in several brain disorders including traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, and Alzheimer's disease. The present work reports on the optimization and in vivo testing of a silicon (Si) multifunctional biosensor probe for sub-second simultaneous real-time detection of GLU and GABA. The Si probe features four surface-functionalized platinum ultramicroelectrodes (UMEs) for detection of GLU and GABA, a sentinel site, and integrated microfluidics for in-situ calibration.

Background: The evaluation of teens with self-harming thoughts (SHT) is a high-stakes task for physicians in community and emergency department (ED) settings. The lived experience of adolescents with stress and SHT provides an important source of insight for mental health professionals who evaluate and treat teens A snapshot of the lived experience of teens in northwest Louisiana was captured by the Step Forward Teen Advisory Council (TAC) in 2019. The TAC surveyed peers with the goal of identifying common stressors experienced by local teens in order to inform policy and practices in the local school system.

In this study, the adsorption of CO molecule over (001) surface of the Heusler alloy CrCoIrGa, has been investigated using DFT+U calculations. It is demonstrated that, after relaxation, the (001) surface retains the bulk atomic positions, exhibiting no apparent surface reconstruction. Owing to the emergence of unsaturated bonds at the surface, the surface layer atoms are found to carry more spin-polarization (SP) and atomic moments than that of inner layer atoms.

The non-Fourier effects, such as wave-like temperature propagation and boundary temperature jumps, arise in nanosized systems due to the multiple time and space scales nature of out-of-equilibrium heat transport. The relaxation to equilibrium occurs in successive time and space scales due to couplings between different excitations, whose relaxation times have different physical meanings and may differ significantly in magnitude. The out-of-equilibrium temperature evolution is described by a hierarchy of partial differential equations of a higher order, which includes both the diffusive and wave modes of heat transport.

Background: The current study sought to (1) describe a new classification approach for types of implementer behavior and (2) explore the implementer behavior change in response to tailored implementation facilitation based on the classifications.
Methods: A small-scale, cluster-randomized hybrid type III implementation trial was conducted in 38 early care and education classrooms that were part of the Together, We Inspire Smart Eating (WISE) program. WISE focuses on 4 evidence-based practices (EBPs), which are implemented by teachers to promote nutrition.

Dissociation of CO on iron clusters was studied by using semilocal density functional theory and basis sets of triple-zeta quality. Fe , Fe , and Fe clusters were selected as the representative host clusters. When searching for isomers of Fe CO , n=2, 4 and 16 corresponding to carbon dioxide attachment to the host clusters, its reduction to O and CO, and to the complete dissociation, it was found that the total spin magnetic moments of the lowest energy states of the isomers are often quenched with respect to those of initial reagents Fe +CO .

There has been an increase in the literature about LGBT older adults in recent years; however, there is a need for further sociological quantitative research examining the impact of geographic region on LGBT aging. Utilizing data from a nationwide survey, this study focuses on the availability of LGBT-specific resources for LGBT aging adults living in the South. We examine the effects of community type and sociodemographics on the availability of LGBT-specific resources as well as the type of resources available.

Glutamate (GLU) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are neurotransmitters (NTs) with an essential role in signal transmission in the brain. Brain disorders, such as epilepsy, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and traumatic brain injury can be linked to imbalances in the GLU-GABA homeostasis that occurs in sub-second to seconds time frames. Current measurement techniques can detect these two NT concentrations simultaneously only .

As the complexity of polymer structure grows, so do the challenges for developing an accurate understanding of their structure-property relationships. Here, the synthesis of bottlebrush polymers with topologically precise and fully discrete structures is reported. A key feature of the strategy is the synthesis of discrete macromonomer libraries for their polymerization into topologically precise bottlebrushes that can be separated into discrete bottlebrushes ( = 1.

Interest in leadership research is growing, however, the rate of leadership learning is slowing down due to the proliferation of new leadership constructs. The objective of the present meta-analysis is to address the significant shortcomings in prior meta-analytic research on newer genre leadership forms by (a) utilizing a substantially greater number of studies and observations than in previous meta-analyses and (b) examining the meta-analytic correlations among the newer genre leadership forms. The results of the present study indicate that the newer genre leadership forms overlap to a greater degree than previously reported, while at the same time accounting for some degree of unique variance in the literature's most studied outcome variables; estimates of the relative contribution of each leadership form to the outcomes are provided, providing new insights into the distinctiveness of each leadership form.

Exploratory space-time data analysis approaches can facilitate the detection of patterns and formation of hypotheses about their driving processes. However, geographic patterns of social phenomena like crime or disease are driven by the underlying population.

A broad-spectrum antimicrobial respiration apparatus designed to fight bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other biological agents is critical in halting the current pandemic's trajectory and containing future outbreaks. We applied a simple and effective electrodeposition method for metal (copper, silver, and zinc) coating the surface of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). These nanoparticles are known to possess potent antiviral and antimicrobial properties.

Reproducibility of the experimental results and object of study itself is one of the basic principles in science. But what if the object characterized by technologically important properties is natural and cannot be artificially reproduced one-to-one in the laboratory? The situation becomes even more complicated when we are interested in exploring stochastic properties of a natural system and only a limited set of noisy experimental data is available. In this paper we address these problems by exploring diffusive motion of some natural clays, halloysite and sepiolite, in a liquid environment.
