Background And Purpose: In recent years, studies have focused on the resolution of inflammation, which can be achieved by endogenous anti-inflammatory agonists such as Annexin A1 (AnxA1). Here, we investigated the effects of mast cells (MCs) on early LPS-induced neutrophil recruitment and the involvement of the AnxA1-formyl peptide receptor 2/ALX (FPR2/ALX or lipoxin A receptor) pathway.

Experimental Approach: Intravital microscopy (IVM) was used to visualize and quantify the effects of LPS (10 μg per mouse i.

A new species of tyrannosaurid from the upper Two Medicine Formation of Montana supports the presence of a Laramidian anagenetic (ancestor-descendant) lineage of Late Cretaceous tyrannosaurids. In concert with other anagenetic lineages of dinosaurs from the same time and place, this suggests that anagenesis could have been a widespread mechanism generating species diversity amongst dinosaurs, and perhaps beyond. We studied the excellent fossil record of the tyrannosaurid to test that hypothesis.

Recent findings have shown an inverse association between circulating C15:0/C17:0 fatty acids with disease risk, therefore, their origin needs to be determined to understanding their role in these pathologies. Through combinations of both animal and human intervention studies, we comprehensively investigated all possible contributions of these fatty acids from the gut-microbiota, the diet, and novel endogenous biosynthesis. Investigations included an intestinal germ-free study and a C15:0/C17:0 diet dose response study.

Background: Unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) have become an issue of greater significance as their detection rates have increased over the years. We present the overall experience of microsurgical clipping of unruptured aneurysms by a single surgeon over a period of more than 16 years.

Methods: The clinical and radiologic data were reviewed retrospectively.

Division of Therapeutic Radiology, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Centre, 1501 Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana 71130, USA.

Objective: Post-laryngectomy stomal cancer recurrences pose management problems because aggressive therapeutic interventions have already often been employed. The purpose of this study is to describe the extent of peristomal cancer relapses, treatment decisions and patient outcomes.

Methods: Of the 429 individuals who underwent total laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer between 1985 and 2005, 11 patients developed recurrent tumour in the tracheal stoma.

Objectives: Obesity is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients. It is unclear whether this increase is due to exaggerated inflammatory response alone or due to lack of response to therapeutic agents used. The objective of this study was to determine whether low-dose steroid therapy, which has proven effective in clinical setting, affords any benefit in the increased morbidity to sepsis in genetically obese (ob/ob) mice.

The penal laws in Pakistan went through sweeping reforms in 1979 with intent to bring them in line with the Islamic Jurisprudence. The introduction of these laws repealed the definitions as well as punishments of various types of injuries. Besides that these laws also redefined and reclassified the crime of murder.

Pakistan is a large and an important West Asian country which came into being in the name of Islam and therefore Islamic tenets remain the core of its constitution. The laws of the state have to conform to Islamic law so that they can have a positive impact on the society. Unfortunately, in Pakistan today not all men enjoy the rights and facilities to which they are entitled and women are doubly disadvantaged by poverty and gender.
