Introduction: In 2011, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommended a minimum of 4 clinical oral health competencies for nondental professionals to promote optimal oral health, including (1) recognizing risk for oral disease through competent oral examinations and (2) making and tracking referrals.
Objectives: We determined whether California school nurses (SNs) knew about specific components of the 2 IOM competencies mentioned above using 3 clinical case scenarios following the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors Basic Screening Survey Methodology.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a 23-item pilot-tested online survey was completed by 358 active California School Nurses Organization members between April and June 2023.

Objective: This review aims to evaluate the current understanding and clinical applications of machinable ceramic-reinforced composites (CRCs) and the emerging first generation of 3D-printed CRCs in dental restorations.
Overview: Machinable CRCs, introduced over a decade ago, have shown moderate success in short- to medium-term clinical applications, particularly in low-stress areas. However, their long-term durability limitations, such as increased wear and marginal deterioration, restrict their use in high-stress situations and full crowns.

Objectives: The triple jump examination (TJE) has been instituted at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (OSDUSC) since 2001 as an assessment tool of critical thinking skills for its learner-centered pedagogy. A 2013 study detailed the TJE's design, validity, and initial outcomes. The current study focused on its 13-year sustainability including a transition from in-person to hybrid TJE by assessing outcomes from the graduating Classes of 2014 through 2026.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), Peroxiredoxin 1 (PRX1), glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) and type I collagen (COL1) and the rate of tooth movement comparing 3 accelerated tooth movement (ATM) methods: Corticopuncture (CP), photobiomodulation (PBM) and the combined technique (CP + PBM) on days 1, 3, 7 and 14.
Methods: Orthodontic tooth movement was induced in 24 male Wistar rats. CP procedure included three perforations: two in the palate and one mesial to the molars.
Background: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) affects up to half of extremely preterm infants, and is associated with adverse long-term respiratory, neurodevelopmental, and educational sequelae and costly health service and family economic outcomes. The NICHD Neonatal Research Network Hydrocortisone for Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) Trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of hydrocortisone treatment to prevent BPD in high-risk infants. The trial enrolled 800 very preterm infants with respiratory failure and followed the participants until 2 years corrected age to assess safety of the trial intervention.

Exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells are an active area of research due to their therapeutic potential in treating osteoporosis. To further harness their therapeutic performance in modulating bone resorption, we have equipped exosomes with osteoclast-targeting moieties on their surface as well as chemokine receptor antagonists blocking osteoclast recruitment. Phosphatidylserine (PS), a membrane lipid exerting immunosuppressive and phagocytic signals, was incorporated in the membrane of exosome mimetics (EMs) to achieve a marked affinity for osteoclast precursors and potential anti-resorptive effects.

The distance between the CEJ to a reference point was measured using two clinical methods (visual examination and tactile sensation) as well as ultrasound imaging.

This clinical report outlines the prosthetic restoration of a 92-year-old Caucasian patient who underwent a partial rhinectomy. Utilizing CAD-CAM technology, scanning and design were accomplished digitally, and material jetting additive manufacturing was used to create a two-piece mold for a partial nasal silicone prosthesis. An unprecedented challenge was observed involving cure inhibition when the silicone came into contact with the additively manufactured (AM) material, and multiple attempted strategies to remedy this situation were discussed.

Objective: A 37-residue amino acid sequence corresponding to the segment encoded by exon-5 of murine ameloblastin (Ambn), AB2 (Y67-Q103), has been implicated with membrane association, ameloblastin self-assembly, and amelogenin-binding. Our aim was to characterize, at the residue level, the structural behavior of AB2 bound to chemical mimics of biological membranes using NMR spectroscopy.
Design: To better define the structure of AB2 using NMR-based methods, recombinant C- and N-labelled AB2 (*AB2) was prepared and data collected free in solution and with deuterated dodecylphosphocholine (dPC) micelles, deuterated bicelles, and both small and large unilamellar vesicles.

Introduction: As of 2020, about 21% of adults in the United States have a diagnosable mental health disorder, excluding substance use and developmental disorders. Depression, predicted by the WHO to be the leading cause of disease burden by 2030, is linked to various systemic conditions and has been associated with poor oral health. Both behavioral factors, like poor dental hygiene and irregular visits, and biological mechanisms, such as changes in salivary immunity, contribute to this connection, which impacts overall well-being and quality of life.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a risk factor for mucosal homeostasis and enhances the susceptibility to inflammation, in which neutrophils have been increasingly appreciated for their role. Here, barrier disruption and inflammation are observed at oral mucosa (gingiva) of T2D patients and mice. It is demonstrated that neutrophils infiltrate the gingival mucosa of T2D mice and expel obvious neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), while removal of NETs alleviates the disruption of mucosal barrier.

Methods: Data were collected between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015 for newly arrived adult refugees (>21 years) enrolled in Washington State dental Medicaid program. Three state agencies provided enrollment and claims data that included demographic information as well as number and types of dental claims, and time to first dental claim for the newly resettled adult refugee population.

Statement Of Problem: The effects of nonaxial forces on peri-implant bone loss have been investigated, mostly in reference to buccal mesiodistal implant angulations as potential risk indicators. However, when implant angulations are multidirectional, including the buccolingual aspect, evaluations of peri-implant bone loss based solely on mesiodistal measurements may skew the correlation.
Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the correlation between the magnitudes of multidirectional implant angulations and peri-implant crestal bone loss.
