Background: Some Chinese scholars have initially explored the efficacy of electroacupuncture at Baliao acupoint in patients with functional anorectal pain (FAP). However, their studies are performed in a single center, or the sample size is small. Therefore, we aim to further explore the efficacy of electroacupuncture at Baliao acupoint on the treatment of FAP.

Following the publication of the above article, a concerned reader drew to the Editor's attention that certain of the cell migration and invasion assay data featured in Figs. 2B, 5C, 6B and C were strikingly similar to data appearing in different form in other articles written by different authors at different research institutes that had either already been submitted elsewhere prior to the submission of this paper to Oncology Reports, or were under consideration for publication at around the same time (one of which has been retracted). In view of the fact that certain of these data had already apparently been submitted for publication prior to the submission of this article to , the Editor has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.

Background: Cervical carcinoma (CC) represents a prevalent gynecological neoplasm, with a discernible rise in prevalence among younger cohorts observed in recent years. Nonetheless, the intrinsic cellular heterogeneity of CC remains inadequately investigated.

Methods: We utilized single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) transcriptomic analysis to scrutinize the tumor epithelial cells derived from four specimens of cervical carcinoma (CC) patients.

Signaling pathways in rheumatoid arthritis: implications for targeted therapy.

Signal Transduct Target Ther

February 2023

State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine & School of Pharmacy, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau SAR, 999078, China.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an incurable systemic autoimmune disease. Disease progression leads to joint deformity and associated loss of function, which significantly impacts the quality of life for sufferers and adds to losses in the labor force. In the past few decades, RA has attracted increased attention from researchers, the abnormal signaling pathways in RA are a very important research field in the diagnosis and treatment of RA, which provides important evidence for understanding this complex disease and developing novel RA-linked intervention targets.

New Therapeutic Approaches Using Hydrogen Sulfide Donors in Inflammation and Immune Response.

Antioxid Redox Signal

August 2021

Faculty of Chinese Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau, China.

Inflammation and immune response are associated with many pathological disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, heart failure, and cancer(s). In recent times, important roles of hydrogen sulfide (HS) have been evidenced by researchers in inflammatory responses, as well as immunomodulatory effects in several disease models. Numerous biological targets, including cytochrome oxidase, various kinases, enzymes involved in epigenetic changes, transcription factors, namely nuclear factor kappa B and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2, and several membrane ion channels, are shown to be sensitive to HS and have been widely investigated in various preclinical models.

Background: Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria are the main cause of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) with high mortality. The purpose of this study is to identify the risk factors associated with MDR by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: PubMed, EMBASE (via Ovid), and Cochrane Library were systematically searched for studies on the risk factors for MDR bacteria in LRTIs as of November 30, 2019.

Objective: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) can easily occur after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). We assessed the proportion of patients with a diagnosis of VTE after CABG and determined the associated risk factors and complications in these patients.

Methods: We assessed all the patients included in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database from 2012 to 2015 who had undergone CABG.

UBE2C Is a Potential Biomarker of Intestinal-Type Gastric Cancer With Chromosomal Instability.

Front Pharmacol

August 2018

Department of Surgery, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Key Laboratory for Gastric Neoplasms, Shanghai Institute of Digestive Surgery, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

This study explored potential biomarkers associated with Lauren classification of gastric cancer. We screened microarray datasets on gastric cancer with information of Lauren classification in gene expression omnibus (GEO) database, and compared differentially expressing genes between intestinal-type or diffuse-type gastric cancer. Four sets of microarray data (GSE2669, GSE2680, GDS3438, and GDS4007) were enrolled into analysis.

Medicine (Baltimore)

August 2018

Department of Clinical Research Center, The First Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Intensive Care Unit, Hanzhong Central Hospital, Hanzhong Department of Emergency Medicine Department of Cardiology, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Department of Emergency Medicine, Longhua Hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai, China.

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between right coronary dominance and coronary angiographic characteristics in patients with or without significant coronary artery disease (CAD).A total of 2225 patients undergoing coronary angiography (CAG) between January 2011 and November 2014 were recruited in our study. Based on the CAG results, patients were divided into the left dominance (LD) group, right dominance (RD) group, and co-dominance (CD) group.

A major reason for colorectal cancer (CRC) chemoresistance is the enhanced migration and invasion of cancer cells, such as the cell acquisition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) has been considered as a pro-oncogene in multiple cancers. However, the precise functional mechanism of lncRNA MALAT1 in chemoresistance and EMT is not well known.

Context: Yingliu mixture was developed in 1990s by Affiliated Longhua Hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, for treating diffuse goitre with hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease, GD). Former studies have shown Yingliu mixture combined with methimazole (Y-M) can effectively improve thyroid function and decrease thyrotropin-receptor antibody level. Furthermore, we researched its impact on related cytokines to prove that Y-M improve patients' immunity status.
