Solubility largely determines the impacts of aerosol Fe on marine ecosystems and human health. Currently, modeling studies have large uncertainties in aerosol Fe solubility due to inadequate understanding of the sources of dissolved Fe. This work investigated seasonal variations of Fe solubility in coarse and fine aerosols in Qingdao, a coastal city in the Northwest Pacific, and utilized a receptor model for source apportionment of total and dissolved aerosol Fe.

Thermodynamic modeling is still the most widely used method to characterize aerosol acidity, a critical physicochemical property of atmospheric aerosols. However, it remains unclear whether gas-aerosol partitioning should be incorporated when thermodynamic models are employed to estimate the acidity of coarse particles. In this work, field measurements were conducted at a coastal city in northern China across three seasons, and covered wide ranges of temperature, relative humidity and NH concentrations.

The HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) plays crucial role in viral infection by facilitating viral attachment to host cells and inducing fusion of the virus with the host cell membrane. This fusion allows the HIV-1 viral genome to enter the target cell then triggering various stages of the viral life cycle. The native Env directly interacts with the main receptor CD4 and the co-receptor (CCR5 or CXCR4) in human cell membrane then induces membrane fusion.

Heterogeneous reaction of NO with mineral dust aerosol may play important roles in troposphere chemistry, and has been investigated by a number of laboratory studies. However, the influence of mineralogy on this reaction has not been well understood, and its impact on aerosol hygroscopicity is not yet clear. This work investigated heterogeneous reactions of NO (∼10 ppmv) with K-feldspar, illite, kaolinite, montmorillonite and Arizona Test Dust (ATD) at room temperature as a function of relative humidity (<1% to 80%) and reaction time (up to 24 hr).

To evaluate metal(loid) contamination in tea leaves and assess health risks of tea drinking in China, metal(loid) concentrations in tea leaves from major tea-producing provinces were determined. Nine metal(loid)s (Al, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd and Pb) were measured in a total of 217 tea samples representing five tea varieties (black tea, dark tea, green tea, oolong tea and white tea) from seven major tea-producing provinces of China (Fujian, Guangdong, Henan, Hunan, Jiangsu, Yunnan and Zhejiang). The results indicated that tea samples from Hunan Province had the highest metal(loid) concentrations, likely due its high prevalence of heavy industrial activities and soil pollution.

Deposition of anthropogenic aerosols may contribute significantly to dissolved Fe in the open ocean, affecting marine primary production and biogeochemical cycles; however, fractional solubility of Fe is not well understood for anthropogenic aerosols. This work investigated mass fractions, solubility, speciation and isotopic compositions of Fe in coal and municipal waste fly ash. Compared to desert dust (3.

Unlabelled: Early detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is an efficient way to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Detecting SARS-CoV-2 antigen can be rapid and convenient, but it is still challenging to develop highly sensitive methods for effective diagnosis. Herein, a lateral flow assay (LFA) based on fluorescent nanoparticles emitting in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window is developed for sensitive detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigen.

The AAA + ATPase p97 is a well-known hexametric enzyme that is evolutionary conserved in eukaryotes. p97 contains an amino-terminal N domain, two tandem ATPase domains (D1 and D2 domain) and a C-terminal unstructured extensive tail, involved in many cellular processes and plays important biological functions, but the structural basis of p97 for its biological roles still remain unclear. Here we report the Cryo-EM structure of full-length human p97 dodecamer in 3.

Since China's launch of the COVID-19 vaccination, the situation of the public, especially the mobile population, has not been optimistic. We investigated 782 factory workers for whether they would get a COVID-19 vaccine within the next 6 months. The participants were divided into a training set and a testing set for external validation conformed to a ratio of 3:1 with R software.

Aerosol phosphorus (P) and trace metals derived from natural processes and anthropogenic emissions have considerable impacts on ocean ecosystems, human health, and atmospheric processes. However, the abundance and fractional solubility of P and trace metals in combustion ash and desert dust, which are two of the largest emission sources of aerosols, are still not well understood. In this study, the abundance and fractional solubility of P and trace metals in seven coal fly ash samples, two municipal waste fly ash samples, and three desert dust samples were experimentally examined.

Tyrosine kinase receptor of insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) and insulin receptor (IR) bind to hormones, such as insulin, IGF-1, and IGF-2, and transduces the signals across the cell membrane. However, the complete structure of the receptor and the signal transduction mechanism remains unclear. Here, we report the cryo-EM structure of the ligand-bound ectodomain in the full-length human IGF-1R.

The Type VI secretion system (T6SS) is a membrane protein complex related to inter-bacterial competitions and host-pathogen interactions in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The T6SS is regulated by a great variety of regulatory mechanisms at multiple levels, including post-translational modification with threonine phosphorylation mediated by Ser/Thr protein kinase PpkA and phosphatase PppA. The T6SS is activated by PpkA via Thr phosphorylation of Fha, and PppA can antagonize PpkA.

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the potential role of extracellular matrix (ECM) regulated by miRNAs in lung function decline.
Methods: We convened 270 silica dust exposed subjects and divided them into three groups according to lung function data. MiRNAs were measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction detecting system and ECM-related proteins were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.
