Bone defects are a common and challenging orthopedic problem with poor self-healing ability and long treatment cycles. The difficult-to-heal bone defects cause a significant burden of medical expenses on patients. Currently, biomaterials with mechanical stability, long-lasting action, and osteogenic activity are considered as a suitable way to effectively heal bone defects.

The role of great toe terminal branch artery split-thickness nail bed flaps in fingertip reconstruction surgery.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

September 2023

Department of Hand Surgery, Longgang Orthopedics Hospital of Shenzhen, No. 36, Nantong Avenue, Tongle Community, Baolong Sub-district, Longgang District, Shenzhen 518116, Guangdong Province, PR China.

Background: The common treatments used to repair fingertip defects remain controversial. We have previously conducted research on split-thickness nail bed flaps, but this method still damages the proper plantar digital arteries and nerves. The great toe terminal branch arteries (TBAs) have not been described in detail.

Background: Ensuring the patency of repaired vessels is pivotal in improving the success rate of digit replantation. There is no consensus on how to best approach postoperative treatment for digit replantation. The influence of postoperative treatment on the risk of failure of revascularization or replantation remains unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • * PMMA-PS group experienced longer operation times and higher hospitalization costs, but both groups showed similar improvements in pain and disability scores post-surgery, with high fusion rates of 100% for PMMA-PS and 96.15% for CPS.
  • * The findings suggest that while PMMA-PS showed no significant benefits in screw stability or overall outcomes compared to CPS, the routine use of PMMA-PS in such cases is not recommended due

Objective: To provide an updated analysis of the efficacy and safety of drugs for the management of neuropathic pain (NP) after spinal cord injury (SCI) based on Bayesian network analysis.

Methods: A Bayesian network meta-analysis of literature searches within PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science databases from their inception to February 21 2021 was conducted without language restrictions. Paired and network meta-analyses of random effects were used to estimate the total standardized mean deviations (SMDs) and odds ratios (ORs).

Forefoot Replantation in a 3-Year-Old Boy: Case Report.

J Foot Ankle Surg

June 2021

Professor, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery, Longgang Orthopedics Hospital of Shenzhen, Shenzhen, China. Electronic address:

Few reports about successful forefoot replantation in children have been published. In this article, we present a case of a 3-year-old boy with severe complete amputation of the left forefoot from a crushed and degloved injury in a motorcycle accident. The replantation was successfully performed, even though total ischemia time lasted 8 hours, of which 4 hours was cold ischemia time.

Department of Microsurgery and Hand Surgery, Longgang Orthopedics Hospital of Shenzhen, Shenzhen Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Purpose: We report a surgical procedure for the management of nail bed injuries combined with soft tissue defects.

Methods: We reviewed the records of patients with a nail bed injury combined with a soft tissue defect, who were surgically treated at our hospital from 2015 through 2018. According to the Allen classification, 5 patients were characterized as type 2 and 3 were characterized as type 3.

HSP90 regulates osteosarcoma cell apoptosis by targeting the p53/TCF-1-mediated transcriptional network.

J Cell Physiol

April 2020

Department of Bone and Joint Surgery, Institute of Orthopedic Diseases, The First Affiliated Hospital, Jinan University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common bone tumor that occurs predominantly in children and teenagers. Although many genes, such as p53 and Rb1, have been shown to be mutated, deregulation of the canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is frequently observed in OS. We recently demonstrated that heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) is involved in the regulation of runt-related transcription factor 2 via the AKT/GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway in OS.

Atomic Force Microscopy-Based Nanoscopy of Chondrogenically Differentiating Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cells: Nanostructure and Integrin β1 Expression.

Nanoscale Res Lett

October 2018

Institute of Orthopedic Diseases and Center for Joint Surgery and Sports Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital, Jinan University, Guangzhou, 510630, People's Republic of China.

Integrin β1 is known to be involved in differentiation, migration, proliferation, wound repair, tissue development, and organogenesis. In order to analyze the binding probability between integrin β1 ligand and cluster of differentiation 29 (CD29) receptors, atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to detect native integrin β1-coupled receptors on the surface of human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSc). The binding probability of integrin β1 ligand-receptor interaction was probed by integrin β1-functionalized tips on hADSc during early chondrogenic differentiation at the two-dimensional cell culture level.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most malignant primary bone tumor in children and adolescents with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. Recently, aberrant expression of Runx2 has been found in OS, thereby contributing to the development, and progression of OS. However, the upstream signaling molecules that regulate its expression in OS remain largely unknown.

MicroRNAs (miRs) may induce mRNA degradation or inhibit protein translation by directly binding to the 3'-untranslational region of target mRNAs. It has been reported that miR-138 is downregulated in malignant melanoma (MM) cells. However, the role of miR-138 in MM cell proliferation, invasion and energy metabolism remains unknown.

Slug signaling is up-regulated by CCL21/CCR7 [corrected] to induce EMT in human chondrosarcoma.

Med Oncol

February 2015

Department of Orthopedics, Longgang Orthopedics Hospital of Shenzhen, 243# Yangmeigang, Longgang Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, 518116, Guangdong, China.

In recent decades, the CXC chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) [corrected] and its ligand CCL21 have been extensively reported to be associated with tumorigenesis. Meanwhile, Slug signaling induces the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process in chondrosarcoma development. In the present study, we explored the functions of CCL21/CCR7 [corrected] in Slug-mediated EMT in the chondrosarcoma.
