Whether there are differences in direct oral anticoagulants efficacy and safety in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) combined with hypertension is unclear. We therefore conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study to assess the differences in the efficacy and safety of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with AF combined with hypertension. This multicenter retrospective cohort study was based on data from 15 centers in China and included 2086 patients with AF.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. It is urgent to search for safe and effective therapies to address the CRC crisis. The siRNA-based RNA interference targeted silencing of PD-L1 has extensive potential in CRC treatment but is limited by the lack of efficient delivery vectors.

Cation-associated cytotoxicity limits the systemic administration of RNA delivery in vivo, demanding the development of non-cationic nanosystems. In this study, cation-free polymer-siRNA nanocapsules with disulfide-crosslinked interlayer, namely T-SS(-), were prepared via the following steps: 1) complexation of siRNA with a cationic block polymer cRGD-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly[(2-aminoethanethiol)aspartamide]-b-poly{N'-[N-(2-aminoethyl)-2-ethylimino-1-aminomethyl]aspartamide}, abbreviated as cRGD-PEG-PAsp(MEA)-PAsp(C=N-DETA), 2) interlayer crosslinking via disulfide bond in pH 7.4 solution, and 3) removal of cationic DETA pendant at pH 5.

Insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS) is a rare endocrine disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of severe hypoglycemia, markedly elevated serum insulin, and positive insulin autoantibodies. In recent years, various countries have reported it one after another. It can be seen that we must pay attention to this disease.

Cuprotosis is a novel and unique form of cell death that is of great value in a variety of cancers. However, the prognostic role of cuprotosis-related genes (CRGs) in lung cancer remains undetermined. We compared the expression profile of CRGs in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients, revealing the genetic alterations and inter-gene correlations of CRGs.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an important type of naturally derived carbohydrate polymer with specific polysaccharide macromolecular structures and multifaceted biological functions, including biocompatibility, low immunogenicity, biodegradability, and bioactivity. Specifically, HA hydrogels in a microscopic scale have been widely used for biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, tissue engineering, and medical cosmetology, considering their superior properties outperforming the more conventional monolithic hydrogels in network homogeneity, degradation profile, permeability, and injectability. Herein, we reviewed the recent progress in the preparation and applications of HA microgels in biomedical fields.

Exercise plays a beneficial regulating role on each organ of the body through different mechanisms and is a powerful weapon to prevent disease. Irisin is released from muscle and widely distributed in the human body, participating in the physiological processes of multiple human systems and playing a protective role in multiple human organs. The protective effect of irisin on the nervous system is particularly remarkable, which can improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of ischemic stroke and improve its prognosis.

Extrusible biomaterials have recently attracted increasing attention due to the desirable injectability and printability to allow minimally invasive administration and precise construction of tissue mimics. Specifically, self-healing colloidal gels are a novel class of candidate materials as injectables or printable inks considering their fascinating viscoelastic behavior and high degree of freedom on tailoring their compositional and mechanical properties. Herein, we developed a novel class of adaptable and osteogenic composite colloidal gels via electrostatic assembly of gelatin nanoparticles and nanoclay particles.

Background: Effectively decoding electroencephalogram (EEG) pattern for specific mental tasks is a crucial topic in the development of brain-computer interface (BCI). Extracting common spatial pattern (CSP) features from motor imagery EEG signals is often highly dependent on the selection of frequency band and time interval. Therefore, optimizing frequency band and time interval would contribute to effective feature extraction and accurate EEG decoding.

Introduction: Glycaemic variability (GV), rather than glucose level, has been shown to be an important factor associated with in-hospital mortality. The coefficient of variation of glucose (GLUCV) is one of the methods used to evaluate GV. However, the clinical significance of GLUCV in diabetes mellitus (DM) patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as a risk factor for long-term adverse changes is unknown.

Metastasis is the hallmark of failed tumor treatment and is typically associated with death due to cancer. Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels affect changes in intracellular calcium concentrations and participate at every stage of metastasis. Further, they increase the migratory ability of tumor cells, promote angiogenesis, regulate immune function, and promote the growth of tumor cells through changes in gene expression and function.

Injectable granular gels consisting of densely packed microgels serving as scaffolding biomaterial have recently shown great potential for applications in tissue regeneration, which allow administration via minimally invasive surgery, on-target cargo delivery, and high efficiency in nutrient/waste exchange. However, limitations such as insufficient mechanical strength, structural integrity, and uncontrollable differentiation of the encapsulated cells in the scaffolds hamper their further applications in the biomedical field. Herein, we developed a new class of granular gels via bottom-up assembly of cell-laden microgels via photo-triggered imine-crosslinking (PIC) chemistry based on the microfluidic technique.

The high level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) microenvironment (RAM) and its persistent inflammatory nature can promote damage to joints, bones, and the synovium. Targeting strategies that integrate effective RAM regulation with imaging-based monitoring could lead to improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of RA. Here, we report the combined use of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) to silence the expression of proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α/IL-6 and scavenge the ROS associated with RAM.

Extended cut-off filtration by medium cut-off membranes (MCO) has been shown to be safe in maintenance hemodialysis (HD). The notion of using them for the control of chronic low-grade inflammation and positively influencing cellular immune aberrations seems tempting. We conducted an open label, multicenter, randomized, 90 day 2-phase cross over clinical trial (MCO- vs.
