Background: Paraquat (PQ) can induce pulmonary fibrosis (PF) by modulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of alveolar epithelial cells, but the molecular mechanism is unknown. In this paper, the role of Wnt-inducible signaling protein-1 (WISP1) in PQ-induced EMT was inspected.
Methods: The morphology, apoptosis, and mortality of A549 cells were observed through a microscope.

The patterns of communication among different chondrocyte subtypes in human cartilage degeneration and regeneration help us understand the microenvironment of osteoarthritis and optimize cell-targeted therapies. Here, a single-cell transcriptome dataset of chondrocytes is used to explore the synergistic and communicative patterns of different chondrocyte subtypes. We collected 1600 chondrocytes from 10 patients with osteoarthritis and analyzed the active communication patterns for the first time based on network analysis and pattern recognition at the single-cell level.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide. In recent years, the occurrence rate of MAFLD has been on the rise, mainly due to lifestyle changes, high-calorie diets, and imbalanced dietary structures, thereby posing a threat to human health and creating heavy social and economic burdens. With the development of 16S sequencing and integrated multi-omics analysis, the role of the gut microbiota (GM) and its metabolites in MAFLD has been further recognized.

In addition to inhibiting persistent inflammation, phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted from chromosome 10 (PTEN) is known as an important therapeutic target for alleviating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) symptoms. Modulation of PTEN gene expression in synovial tissue using messenger RNA (mRNA) is a promising approach to combat RA. However, mRNA therapeutics are often hampered by unsatisfactory stability and inefficient localization in synovial tissue.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) harms the male reproductive system, and lncRNA may play an important role in it. Here, we report that the LINC01088/microRNA- (miRNA/miR-) 22/cell division cycle 6 (CDC6) axis regulated through the phosphatidylinositide 3-kinases- (PI3K-) protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway controls the development of PCa.
Methods: lncRNA/miRNA/mRNA associated with PCa was downloaded and analyzed by Gene Expression Omnibus.

Background: The dissemination of online health information (OHI) on medication use via WeChat Official Accounts (WOAs) is an effective way to help primary care practitioners (PCPs) address drug-related problems (DRPs) in the community. Although an increasing number of primary care institutions in China have published WOA posts on medication use, their content and quality have not yet been assessed.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the general features and content of WOA posts on medication use published by community healthcare centers (CHCs) in Shanghai, China and to assess their quality of content.

Prostate cancer is the most common tumor among men. Although the prognosis for early-stage prostate cancer is good, patients with advanced disease often progress to metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), which usually leads to death owing to resistance to existing treatments and lack of long-term effective therapy. In recent years, immunotherapy, especially immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), has made great progress in the treatment of various solid tumors, including prostate cancer.

Objective: The purpose of this work is to investigate how the Rho family of GTPases A (RhoA) mediates the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RA-FLS).
Methods: The expression of RhoA in the synovial tissues of RA and Healthy people (Control) was detected using immunohistochemistry methods. The expression of RhoA and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is inhibited by small interfering RNAs (siRNAs).

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) induces immunogenic cell death (ICD) by producing reactive oxygen species (ROS), making it an ideal method for cancer treatment. However, the extremely lower level of oxygen, short half-life of produced ROS, and limited photosensitizers accumulating in the tumor site via intravenous administration are the main reasons that limit the further application of PDT. To address these issues, we loaded the photosensitizer porphine (THPP) into biomimetic gold nanorod-mesoporous silica core-shell nanoparticles (Au-MSN NPs) to prepare Au@MSN/THPP@CM NPs.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been functionally characterised in various diseases. LncRNA PAX-interacting protein 1-antisense RNA 1 (PAXIP1-AS1) has reportedly been associated with cancer development. However, its role in gastric cancer (GC) remains poorly understood.

Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from infectious diseases worldwide, and developing a new TB vaccine is a priority for TB control. Combining multiple immunodominant antigens to form a novel multicomponent vaccine with broad-spectrum antigens to induce protective immune responses is a trend in TB vaccine development. In this study, we used T-cell epitope-rich protein subunits to construct three antigenic combinations: EPC002, ECA006, and EPCP009.

Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems for breast ultrasound interpretation have been primarily evaluated at tertiary and/or urban medical centers by radiologists with breast ultrasound expertise. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of deep learning-based CAD software on the diagnostic performance of radiologists without breast ultrasound expertise at secondary or rural hospitals in the differentiation of benign and malignant breast lesions measuring up to 2.0 cm on ultrasound.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common histological subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma worldwide. The emergence of multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) has been described as a new prognostic factor in many types of tumors.
Methods: To investigate the morbidity, incidence, and survival of MPM in DLBCL, we retrospectively reviewed the characteristics of 788 patients with DLBCL.

Appendiceal endometriosis with intestinal metaplasia is particularly challenging to diagnose preoperatively based on clinical features. Microscopically, it can mimic malignant transformation into mucinous neoplasms of the appendix. The present study reports a case of a 47-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain that was not related to her menstruation.

GRB10 and its family members GRB7 and GRB14 were important adaptor proteins. They regulated many cellular functions by interacting with various tyrosine kinase receptors and other phosphorus-containing amino acid proteins. More and more studies have shown that the abnormal expression of GRB10 is closely related to the occurrence and development of cancer.

Airway stents are commonly used to treat patients with central airway obstruction, but several complications have been identified, including mucus plugging, granulation tissue, stent migration, and infection. Stent associated respiratory tract infection (SARTI) has often been neglected by the practicing clinicians. Therefore, we reviewed the available current literatures on the diagnosis and management of stent associated respiratory tract infection.

Articular cartilage (AC) is most susceptible to degeneration in knee osteoarthritis (OA); however, the existing treatments for OA do not target the core link of the pathogenesis-"decreased tissue cell function activity and extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolic disorders" for effective intervention. iMSC hold lower heterogeneity and great promise in biological research and clinical applications. Rps6ka2 may play an important role in the iMSC to treat OA.

The higher tendency to relapse put patients at risk for prolonged exposure to steroids and other immunosuppressive agents. B cell depletion with rituximab (RTX) may be beneficial to the treatment and prevention of frequently relapsing MCD.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. It is urgent to search for safe and effective therapies to address the CRC crisis. The siRNA-based RNA interference targeted silencing of PD-L1 has extensive potential in CRC treatment but is limited by the lack of efficient delivery vectors.
