Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an annual oral-systemic health interprofessional education (IPE) clinical simulation and case study experience with nurse practitioner/midwifery (NP/MW), dental (DDS), medical (MD), and pharmacy (PharmD) students.
Methods: The Interprofessional Collaborative Competency Attainment Scale (ICCAS) was used to measure students' self-reported attainment of interprofessional competencies before and after the IPE experience. Pre- and post-test surveys were completed by NP/MW, DDS, MD, and PharmD student cohorts from 2017 to 2019.

What Is Known And Objective: Lemierre's syndrome is often misdiagnosed as a common cold or viral infection. Fusobacterium necrophorum is the most common causative organism. The recommended treatment regimen is 6 weeks of a beta-lactam antibiotic along with metronidazole.

Eradicating multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms has been a major challenge in healthcare settings worldwide. Newly approved drugs and those currently in the pipeline may have a promising solution to this issue. The purposes of this review are to describe the various resistance mechanisms of Gram-negative bacteria and to provide a summary of the current literature available on the newer agents, such as ceftazidime/avibactam, ceftolozane/tazobactam, meropenem/vaborbactam, and other emerging agents used for the treatment of MDR Gram-negative infections.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess patterns of potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs) with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in an inpatient hospital setting.
Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center (BUHMC) from January 2014 to November 2016. All adult patients admitted to the BUHMC who were treated with a DOAC for at least 3 days were screened.

Methods: This retrospective chart review study was conducted from December 1, 2013, through November 30, 2014, at an urban outpatient clinic. Estimated 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk was calculated based on the pooled cohort equation for all patients.

Purpose: The use of a three-drug regimen for the prevention of perinatal transmission of zidovudine- and nevirapine-resistant HIV is described.
Summary: A 17-year-old Hispanic woman infected with HIV arrived at our clinic for the management of her first pregnancy. The patient was in her second trimester of her pregnancy, had not previously been treated with antiretroviral therapy, and was only taking daily prenatal vitamins at the time of her first clinic visit.
