Purpose: To detect choroidal markers of disease activity in eyes with chronic active unilateral pachychoroid disease spectrum (PDS) compared to the non-active contralateral eyes, based on multimodal imaging and particularly indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).
Methods: An observational retrospective case-control study. The study evaluated individuals diagnosed with chronic active unilateral PDS (group 1) by comparing the eyes with the non-active fellow eyes (group 2).

Background: Physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and diet synergically coexist (in different ways) within adolescents' lifestyles. Thus, understanding obesogenic behaviour patterns within populations is critical to promoting adolescents' health. This study investigates clustering patterns of adolescents' obesogenic behaviours across South American countries.

Objective: To evaluate the influence of in situ acid erosion on the structural and optical properties of nanoparticulate bisacrylic resin with different surface treatments, evaluating surface roughness (Ra), knoop microhardness (KHN), color change (ΔE, ΔL, ΔC, ΔH), contrast (CR) and translucency (TP).
Methods: Eighty specimens were made (n = 10 per group) and the following surface treatments were applied: U-unpolished; A-polishing with Astropol rubber tips (Ivoclar); S-Biscover LV surface sealant (Bisco) and S-Palaseal surface sealant (kulzer). For the in situ experiment, 10 volunteers wore an intraoral appliance containing eight specimens (two specimens per experimental group), with only one specimen from each experimental group being subjected to the acid process.

We compared performing preacher and incline biceps curls on changes in elbow flexors muscle size and strength. This was a between-group repeated measures randomized trial. Sixty-three young women performed preacher biceps curl (PC, n = 30) or incline biceps curl (IC, n = 33) for 8 weeks, twice a week.

This review explores recent technological advances in intraoperative imaging during retinal disease surgeries, focusing on their applicability in clinical practice and impact on surgical outcomes. A literature search identified studies discussing new imaging technologies, their advantages over conventional methods, relevant case studies, and literature reviews. Exclusion criteria included studies unrelated to retinal diseases, imaging technologies not suitable for intraoperative use, outdated articles, and nonscientific reports.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a multifunctional signaling molecule in plants, playing key roles in germination, microbial symbiosis, and nodule formation. However, its instability requires innovative approaches, such as using nanoencapsulated NO donors, to prolong its effects. This study evaluated the impact of treating soybean () seeds with the NO donor S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), encapsulated in polymeric nanoparticles, on the germination, nodulation, and plant growth.

Neuropathy is the most common complication of diabetes, leading to painful symptoms like hyperalgesia. Current treatments for diabetic painful neuropathy often prove inadequate, necessitating the exploration of new pharmacological approaches. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the potential antinociceptive effect of aspirin-triggered lipoxin A4 (ATL), a specialized pro-resolving lipid mediator, when administered alone or in combination with cannabinoid agonists, to alleviate diabetic neuropathic pain.

This study evaluated the effects of oral pentoxifylline on testicular biometry, histology, and gene expression in stallions subjected to scrotal heat stress. Fourteen stallions were divided into three groups: Control (CRL, n = 4), Testicular Degeneration (DEG, n = 5), and Testicular Degeneration Treated with Pentoxifylline (DEG + PTX, n = 5). Testicular degeneration was induced by scrotal insulation, twice daily, over two consecutive days (D-1 and D0).

Vascular hamartoma is an abnormal development of endothelial tissue that rarely affects horses. Histopathological examination remains the gold standard for definitive diagnosis, yet the presence of abnormal vascular structures must be carefully differentiated from other vascular anomalies and neoplasms. This report describes two cases of vascular proliferation affecting the skin on the lateral side over the left tarsus and the dorsolateral region over the fetlock joint of two fillies.

Introduction And Hypotheses: Few studies have investigated the relationship between work productivity (WP) and overactive bladder syndrome (OABS). The majority of those that do use generic productivity questionnaires or only include WP as a secondary outcome. We evaluated the impact of OABS on specific domains of WP, with the hypothesis that OABS has an impact on the domains of efficiency, concentration, vigor, and irritability, lost working hours, interruptions, and impairment to the work schedule.

Endometriosis is a debilitating and painful gynecological inflammatory disease affecting up to 15% of women and transgender men. Current treatments are ineffective for a substantial proportion of patients, underscoring the need for additional therapies with long-term benefits. Nociceptors release neuropeptides, such as calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which are known to shape immunity through neuroimmune communication.

Background: Mortality from physical inactivity-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is projected to surpass deaths from communicable diseases by 2030 in Africa. Monitoring physical activity (PA) is important for planning public health interventions addressing NCDS and planetary health, but there is a dearth of evidence on PA trends in Africa. This study explored the secular trends in overall and domains of PA (leisure, occupation, and transport), and examined the gender, age, and education disparities in PA trends across African countries.

Background: There are many gaps in our understanding of the mechanisms involved in ovarian follicular development in cattle, particularly regarding follicular deviation, acquisition of ovulatory capacity, and preovulatory changes. Molecular evaluations of ovarian follicular cells during follicular development in cattle, especially serial transcriptomic analyses across key growth phases, have not been reported. This study aims to address this gap by analyzing gene expression using RNA-seq in granulosa and antral cells recovered from ovarian follicular fluid during critical phases of ovarian follicular development in Holstein cows.

Perceptual training enhances the ability to anticipate crucial information for decision-making, for example, a soccer goalkeeper predicting penalty kick direction. However, it remains unclear whether perceptual practice alone (implicit method) is sufficient for optimal decision-making improvement, or whether emphasising pertinent details during practice (explicit method) could yield better results. This study compared implicit and explicit methods of learning ball direction prediction during soccer penalties, involving both goalkeepers and non-soccer players (novices).
