Iron management and exercise training in individuals with chronic kidney disease: lived experiences.

Background: Non-anaemic iron deficiency is highly prevalent in people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) but is underdiagnosed and undertreated, especially in earlier stages of CKD. A multicentre trial assessing the effect of intravenous iron supplementation in iron-deficiency but not anaemic people with CKD included a qualitative sub-study that aimed to explore the patient experience and psychosocial impact of living with CKD and iron deficiency, and the experience of the therapeutic intervention (intravenous iron and exercise).

Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23 trial participants blinded to treatment.

Conditional quantile functions with FPs provide a comprehensive relationship between the response variable and its predictors, such as median and extremely high-BP measures that may be often required in practical data analysis generally. However, the plethora of solvent accessible lysine residues, which often have similar reactivity, is a key inherent issue when searching for regioselectivity and/or controlled loading of an entity. A relevant example is the modification of antibodies and/or antibody fragments, whose conjugates offer potential for a wide variety of applications.

Background: The health of young carers is poorer, on average, than their peers. The timing and persistence of health and wellbeing changes around becoming a young carer are unknown. We investigated how health and wellbeing change before, during and after becoming a young carer in the UK and whether this varies by caring intensity, age, gender, ethnicity, or household income.

Extending health equity to people with moderate and mild hemophilia A: revisiting the HAVEN 6 trial.

Congenital hemophilia A (HA) disease severity has traditionally been categorized according to intrinsic factor (F)VIII levels, with <1% of normal indicating severe HA, 1% to 5% moderate HA, and 6% to 40% mild HA. However, mounting evidence illustrates considerable variability in bleeding phenotype regardless of FVIII level. Despite treatment advances, people with moderate or mild HA may be neglected, as treatment guidelines and established norms focus on FVIII levels, and many clinical trials do not include people with FVIII > 1%.

Efficacy and Safety of Pegcetacoplan in Kidney Transplant Recipients With Recurrent Complement 3 Glomerulopathy or Primary Immune Complex Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis.

Introduction: Complement 3 glomerulopathy (C3G) and primary immune complex membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (IC-MPGN) have high risks for disease recurrence and allograft loss in transplant kidneys. Pegcetacoplan (targeted complement 3 [C3]/C3b inhibitor) may prevent excessive deposition of C3 and complement 5 [C5] breakdown products and associated renal damage.

Methods: NOBLE (NCT04572854) is a prospective, phase 2, multicenter, open-label, randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of pegcetacoplan in posttransplant patients with recurrent C3G or IC-MPGN.

Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in wet market workers in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2022.

Objectives: We assessed the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and vaccine receipt in a representative sample of wet market workers in a highly dense, low-income setting. Wet markets are key in many Asian settings, including Dhaka, Bangladesh, for fresh food, including animal protein.

Methods: During early 2022, we assessed the prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in a random sample of poultry and vegetable workers in 15 wet markets, and investigated associations with socio-demographic characteristics and COVID-19 vaccination.

In this longitudinal study, we compare the age of reaching early developmental milestones in bilingual and monolingual children and between the bilinguals' two languages. We present data from 302 Polish bilinguals (living outside of Poland with various majority languages) and 302 Polish monolinguals, aged = 12.78 months on study entry (range: 024 months), matched on sex, age at study entry, duration of parental reporting, and parental education.

Purpose: Revision knee replacement (RevKR) for infection is rare but increasing. It is hypothesised that higher hospital volume reduces adverse outcomes. The aim was to estimate the association of surgical unit volume with outcomes following first, single-stage RevKR for infection.

Previous reports have indicated that during the era of combination antiretroviral therapy, the major causes of morbidity and mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH) were not solely linked to HIV-related opportunistic infections but also to cancers that were difficult to manage due to HIV-related immunodeficiency. We investigated whether PLWH who underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) for lymphomas experienced significant morbidity over the past thirty years following HIV infection. We conducted a retrospective follow-up study of 49 PLWH over a 10-year period following ASCT.

Effectiveness of a stepped-care programme of WHO psychological interventions in a population of migrants: results from the RESPOND randomized controlled trial.

Migrant populations - including labour migrants, undocumented migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, internationally displaced persons, and other populations on the move - are exposed to a variety of stressors that affect their mental health. We designed and tested the effectiveness of a stepped-care programme consisting of two scalable psychological interventions developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and locally adapted for migrant populations. A parallel-group randomized controlled trial was conducted in Italy.

Feeding and eating disorders (FEDs) are a heterogeneous grouping of disorders at the mind-body interface, with typical onset from childhood into emerging adulthood. They occur along a spectrum of disordered eating and compensatory weight management behaviors, and from low to high body weight. Psychiatric comorbidities are the norm.

Post-traumatic stress disorder: evolving conceptualization and evidence, and future research directions.

The understanding of responses to traumatic events has been greatly influenced by the introduction of the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In this paper we review the initial versions of the diagnostic criteria for this condition and the associated epidemiological findings, including sociocultural differences. We consider evidence for post-traumatic reactions occurring in multiple contexts not previously defined as traumatic, and the implications that these observations have for the diagnosis.

The lived experience of postpartum depression and psychosis in women: a bottom-up review co-written by experts by experience and academics.

This is the first bottom-up review of the lived experience of postpartum depression and psychosis in women. The study has been co-designed, co-conducted and co-written by experts by experience and academics, drawing on first-person accounts within and outside the medical field. The material initially identified was shared with all participants in a cloud-based system, discussed across the research team, and enriched by phenomenological insights.

Photo-Rechargeable Sodium-Ion Batteries with a Two-Dimensional MoSe Crystal Cathode.

Combining energy harvesting with energy storage systems in a single device could offer great advantages for continuous power supply in both indoor and outdoor electric applications. In this work, we demonstrate a photochargeable sodium-ion battery (PSIB) based on a photoactive cathode of two-dimensional crystals of MoSe. This photocathode enables spontaneous photodriven charging of a sodium-ion battery cathode under illumination and an increase in the reversible capacity to 29% at 600 mA g compared to that under dark conditions during galvanostatic cycling.
