A man in his 20s who had previously experienced multiple episodes of transient loss of consciousness, majorly attributable to the seizures, presented with a 1-month history of increased seizure frequency, high-grade fever and weight loss. Clinically, he had postural instability, bradykinesia and symmetrical cogwheel rigidity. His investigations revealed hypocalcaemia, hyperphosphataemia, inappropriately normal intact parathyroid hormone, metabolic alkalosis, normomagnesemic magnesium depletion, and increased plasma renin activity and serum aldosterone concentration.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of minimal enteral feeding (MEN) versus withholding feeding on time to reach full feeds during treatment of hs-PDA with oral ibuprofen in infants ≤30 weeks.

Study Design: We performed a single-center, randomized control trial of 126 premature infants born ≤30 weeks gestation, <7 days of age with hs-PDA comparing continuation of MEN (n = 64) vs no feeding (n = 62) during treatment. The primary outcome was time to reach a feed volume of 150 ml/kg/day.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition which usually presents as non-scarring patchy alopecia. The disease has varied clinical presentations ranging in severity from patchy circumscribed alopecia, reticular pattern, ophiasis, sisaipho, diffuse, or incognito type to alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis. The various available treatment options include topical/intralesional steroids, topical immunotherapy/contact irritants, systemic steroids, and steroid-sparing agents like cyclosporine, azathioprine, methotrexate, and the JAK-STAT inhibitors.
