Objectives:  This study aimed to evaluate the trends in the sociodemographic, clinical, and prescription characteristics of patients with psychotic illnesses seen in the outpatient psychiatry department of a tertiary care facility.

Methods:  Between March 2021 and April 2022, a cross-sectional, prospective, observational, naturalistic, non-interventional study was conducted. A total of two hundred prescriptions were analyzed.

Role of Digital Subtraction Angiography in the Preoperative Assessment of a Patient with a Petrosquamous Sinus: a Case Report.

We report a case of a 15-year-old Indian girl who presented with tinnitus, pain and ear discharge for one month and was preliminarily diagnosed with Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) with mastoiditis. She underwent a routine presurgical CT scan which revealed an aberrant vein, making it essential to exercise caution during surgery for CSOM. The aberrant vessel was identified as a Petrosquamous Sinus.

Introduction Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder, which poses challenges to social communication and behavior, particularly affecting social functioning. Individuals with ASD face significant social challenges, including difficulty understanding social cues and body language, limited ability to engage in reciprocal social interactions, and challenges with establishing empathy. A preference for routines and repetitive behaviors limits their ability to adapt to new or unexpected social situations.

A Retrospective Analysis of Dynamic Compression Plating Versus Intramedullary Nailing for the Management of Shaft of Humerus Fractures in an Urban Trauma Care Center.

Materials and methods In our study, we retrospectively analyze the results of 27 patients with shaft humerus fractures managed with intramedullary nailing (10) and dynamic compression plating (17) at our institute from September 2021 to October 2022.

We present a rare case of open lateral condyle Hoffa's fracture with concurrent patellar intra-articular dislocation, quadriceps rupture and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion. The early adolescent male sustained these injuries in a road traffic accident. Diagnostic evaluation and a multidisciplinary approach guided treatment decisions.

Ultrasonographic evaluation of diaphragmatic excursion changes after major laparoscopic surgeries in the Trendelenburg position under general anaesthesia: A prospective observational study.

Background And Aims: Laparoscopic surgeries result in increased intra abdominal pressure and cephalad displacement of the diaphragm. The Trendelenburg position can augment these respiratory changes. The primary objective of this study was to compare diaphragmatic excursions before and after a major laparoscopic pelvic surgery under general anaesthesia in the Trendelenburg position using ultrasonography (USG).

Intraoperative bleeding poses a substantial challenge, particularly in neuro-spine surgeries leading to complications such as hematomas, infections, and hemodynamic instability. Despite their proven efficacy, use of topical hemostatic agents (THAs) lacks comprehensive published literature and guidelines particularly in the Indian setting. The present study provides the first-ever Indian expert panel recommendations for effective adjunct THA use in different intraoperative bleeding sites and situations in neuro-spine surgeries.

Introduction It is important to establish criteria to define vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) in India as VCI is an image-based diagnosis and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) changes resulting from age with prevalent vascular risk factors may confound MRI interpretation. The objective of this study was to establish normative community data for MRI volumetry including white matter hyperintensity volume (WMHV), correlated with age-stratified cognitive scores and vascular risk factors (VRFs), in adults aged 40 years and above.  Methods We screened 2651 individuals without known neurological morbidity, living in Mumbai and nearby rural areas, using validated Marathi translations of Kolkata Cognitive Battery (KCB) and geriatric depression score (GDS).
