Bleak future for pre- and paraclinical postgraduates in India.

In a bid to encourage medical graduates to opt for postgraduation in pre- and paraclinical courses, the Odisha Government, in January 2018, hiked the stipend for students pursuing these courses in state-run medical colleges. The state government also announced additional financial assistance of Rs 18,000 per month for pre- and paraclinical postgraduate students, along with the stipend money. Efficacy and safety of oxum in treatment of the venous ulcer.

The present study was carried out to find out the efficacy and safety of oxum in the treatment of venous ulcers. The oxum (superoxidised water) is a pH neutral, non-irritating, aqueous solution that possesses a good antiseptic, antimicrobial activity and wound healing properties. The study was conducted in 30 patients of venous ulcers with a culture examination positive for pathogenic microbial flora.

Effect of atorvastatin on type 2 diabetic dyslipidemia.

Hyperlipidemia is commonly observed in patients with type 2 diabetes and is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The authors tested the effect of atorvastatin (10 mg/d) on 110 hyperlipidemic type 2 diabetes patients with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels exceeding 130 mg/d. The primary efficacy end point was the percentage change in LDL-C and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and secondary efficacy included the percentage change in apolipoproteins at weeks 6, 12, and 24.
