Objective: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) often leads to cognitive impairments, particularly regarding working memory (WM). This meta-analysis aims to examine the impact of TBI on WM, taking into account moderating factors which has received little attention in previous research, such as severity of injury, the different domains of Baddeley's multi-component model, and the interaction between these two factors, as well as the interaction with other domains of executive functions.
Method: Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines, a systematic review and meta-analysis searched Google Scholar, PubMed, and PsycNET for studies with objective WM measures.
Background And Aims: Dressings containing silver ions are an accepted and common option for wound treatment. However, some wounds fail to heal at the desired rate despite optimal management. The aim of the study was to examine the effect of copper dressings in noninfected wounds.

Unlabelled: Narcolepsy is a rare condition in Israel. Currently, the incidence of narcolepsy following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in Israel is unknown. We are reporting a case report of a 51-year-old woman of Ashkenazi Jewish descent who was evaluated for complaints of excessive daytime sleepiness and relative functional decline that immediately followed receipt of the Pfizer/BioNTech SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.

Importance: Executive function (EF) deficits are common after traumatic brain injury (TBI). During rehabilitation, it is important to identify EF deficits and understand their impact on daily function. The internet-based Bill-Paying Task, modified from the Executive Function Performance Test, has not yet been validated for use with people with TBI.

Visual scenes are too complex to perceive immediately in all their details. Two strategies (among others) have been suggested as providing shortcuts for evaluating scene gist before its details: (a) Scene summary statistics provide average values that often suffice for judging sets of objects and acting in their environment. Set summary perception spans simple/complex dimensions (circle size, face emotion), various statistics (mean, variance, range), and separate statistics for discernible sets.

Introduction: Neurogenic heterotopic ossification (NHO) occurs as a complication of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Management of clinically significant NHO remains variable. Complications of mature NHO include limitation of mobility.

Introduction: Neurogenic heterotopic ossification (NHO) is a complication of a neurological injury following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and may be present around major synovial joints. It is often accompanied by severe pain, which may lead to limitation in activities of daily living. Currently, a common intervention for NHO is surgery, which has been reported to carry many additional risks.

Although sleep abnormalities in general and sleep-related breathing disorders (SBD) in particular are quite common in healthy children; their presence is notably under-recognized. Impaired sleep is a frequent problem in subjects with inborn errors of metabolism as well as in a variety of genetic disorders; however, they are commonly either missed or underestimated. Moreover, the complex clinical presentation and the frequently life-threatening symptoms are so overwhelming that sleep and its quality may be easily dismissed.

Background: Little is known of the risk factor disparities in first stroke among Jewish and Arab patients undergoing rehabilitation in Israel.
Objectives: To investigate the age, gender and risk factor disparities in first stroke among Jewish (immigrant and non-immigrant) and Arab patients undergoing rehabilitation and to compare the prevalence and odds ratio of stroke risk factors in these patients.
Methods: The database of the Department of Neurological Rehabilitation C at Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center was used to investigate first ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients admitted for hospital rehabilitation over a 15 year period, January 1993 to December 2008.

Aim: Several studies have described the contribution of robotics technology in providing effective treatment options for improving upper-extremity functions in patients with hemiparesis following stroke. The aim of this study was to conduct a preliminary assessment of patient acceptance of an upper extremity robot, the Reo Therapy System (Motorika Ltd., Israel), developed specifically for neuromuscular training of upper extremities for use in rehabilitation centers and outpatient clinics.

Functional assessments have become a cornerstone of rehabilitation medicine, assisting in well-defined aspects such as: quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, accountability, cost/benefit analysis, education, and research. In the second part of the 20th century, scaling techniques have become an integral part of the rehabilitation medicine discipline, and everybody is aware of their essential importance. However, even when engaged in a purely scientific discussion on the theoretical, mathematical basis of these measurements, a fundamental question arises as to what depth of accuracy is it possible to bring such measurements into a clinical scenario (or any real scenario).

Objectives: To investigate functional outcomes after hospital rehabilitation of patients surviving craniotomy for primary brain tumor excision compared with post-stroke patients.
Design: The database of the Neurological Rehabilitation Department "C" of Loewenstein Rehabilitation Center was used to investigate primary brain tumors and first ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients admitted for hospital rehabilitation during an 11-yr period, between January 1993 and August 2004. Particular attention was paid to age and sex distribution, onset-to-admission interval, length of stay, functional status at admission and discharge, functional gain (DeltaFI change) as measured by the FIM instrument.

This article suggests a new concept, named "restorgenesis". It addresses issues related to the essence of rehabilitation, such as defining the patient's potential for recovery, the milestones of the recovery process, its facilitating and impinging factors. This concept is a "hybrid" of two already existing notions: "pathogenesis", i.

Background: Follow-up examinations in a rehabilitation center clinic after stroke are essential for coordinating post-acute services and monitoring patient progress. Of first-stroke patients discharged from our rehabilitation ward to the community 92% are invited for ambulatory check-up once every 6 months.
Objectives: To review patient complaints at follow-up and the recommendations issued by the attending physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at the outpatient clinic.

Feature search for a light bar with one orientation (or color) embedded in an array of bars with a very different orientation (or color) is quick, easy and independent of the number of array elements. In contrast, search for a conjunction target has a linear response time dependence on the number of distractors. Training can improve performance of both these tasks.

This included specific blood tests and neuro- and cardiac imaging, and compared the extent of work-up in a community hospital versus a rehabilitation center. Comparisons were also made with similar investigations 10 and 20 years earlier.

Patients with right hemisphere damage and contralesional neglect are often unaware of visual, auditory or tactile stimuli occurring on their left side. In an effort to understand the contribution of pre-attentive processes to this phenomenon, we examined the processing of the pitch, duration and spatial location of auditory stimuli using an electrophysiological probe, the mismatch negativity (MMN). This event-related brain potential indexes the integrity of cerebral processes that respond automatically to deviations from regularity in the acoustic environment.

"Cognitive" auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) were mapped to examine the putative conscious responsiveness of eight patients in a postcoma unawareness (PCU) state and of eight matched normal controls. A "passive P3" paradigm was used to evaluate waves N2, P3, and Slow Waves of the ERPs. Results showed that the signal/noise ratio of the patients' waveshapes was poorer than that of the controls.

The present research examines the effect of spatial (object-centered) attentional constraints on pattern recognition. Four normal subjects and two right-hemisphere-damaged patients with left visual neglect participated in the study. Small, letterlike, prelearned patterns served as stimuli.

Objective: The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) was used to measure function in first-stroke patients on admission to and discharge from a rehabilitation center, and to determine gain; all data were analyzed by a clinically oriented approach.
Design: All patients admitted after a first supratentorial stroke to a comprehensive rehabilitation facility over a 2-year period were examined prospectively with the FIM. Diagnosis was determined by neuroimaging.
