Study Design: 28 535 women with their first VBAC and a cohort of 275 439 nulliparous women with a vaginal delivery of a liveborn infant in a cephalic position from the Dutch perinatal registry were analyzed.

Do differences in diagnostic criteria for late fetal growth restriction matter?

Background: Criteria for diagnosis of fetal growth restriction differ widely according to national and international guidelines, and further heterogeneity arises from the use of different biometric and Doppler reference charts, making the diagnosis of fetal growth restriction highly variable.

Objective: This study aimed to compare fetal growth restriction definitions between Delphi consensus and Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine definitions, using different standards/charts for fetal biometry and different reference ranges for Doppler velocimetry parameters.

Study Design: From the TRUFFLE 2 feasibility study (856 women with singleton pregnancy at 32 to 36 weeks of gestation and at risk of fetal growth restriction), we selected 564 women with available mid-pregnancy biometry.

Colorectal cancer risk after removal of polyps in fecal immunochemical test based screening.

Background: Colonoscopy surveillance intervals are based on the predicted risk of metachronous colorectal cancer (CRC) after polyp removal. However, risk estimation per polyp subtype is difficult due to the fact that many patients have multiple polyps. To enable risk estimation per polyp subtypes we examined the metachronous CRC risk of subgroups based on presence or absence of co-occurring findings.

The Use of Pictograms in the Evaluation of Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders in Children.

Objective: To evaluate whether the use of pictograms improves symptom evaluation for children with functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPDs).

Study Design: This survey study was conducted in 2 academic centers and included patients aged 8-18 years visiting the outpatient clinic for FAPD symptom evaluation. Patients were randomized to fill out the questionnaire without or with accompanying pictograms to assess gastrointestinal symptoms.

Background: Post-acute sequela of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) encompass fatigue, post-exertional malaise and cognitive problems. The abundant expression of the tryptophan-catabolizing enzyme indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase-2 (IDO2) in fatal/severe COVID-19, led us to determine, in an exploratory observational study, whether IDO2 is expressed and active in PASC, and may correlate with pathophysiology.

Methods: Plasma or serum, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were obtained from well-characterized PASC patients and SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals without PASC.

Provocation testing in congenital long QT syndrome: A practical guide.

Congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a hereditary cardiac channelopathy with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 2500. A prolonged resting QT interval corrected for heart rate (QTc interval) remains a key diagnostic component; however, the QTc value may be normal in up to 40% of patients with genotype-positive LQTS and borderline in a further 30%. Provocation of QTc prolongation and T-wave changes may be pivotal to unmasking the diagnosis and useful in predicting genotype.

Global, regional, and national time trends in cancer mortality attributable to high fasting plasma glucose: an age-period cohort analysis.

Background: High fasting plasma glucose (HFPG) is the fastest-growing risk factor for cancer deaths worldwide. We reported the cancer mortality attributable to HFPG at global, regional, and national levels over the past three decades and associations with age, period, and birth cohort.

Methods: Data for this study were retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019, and we used age-period-cohort modelling to estimate age, cohort and period effects, as well as net drift (overall annual percentage change) and local drift (annual percentage change in each age group).

The Effect of a Myomectomy on Myoma-related Symptoms and Quality of Life: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Study Objective: Although it is assumed that myomectomy improves uterine myoma-related symptoms such as pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB), validated measures are rarely reported. This study aimed to verify the effect of myomectomy on myoma-related symptoms.

Metabolism not only produces energy necessary for the cell but is also a key regulator of several cellular functions, including pluripotency and self-renewal. Nucleotide sugars (NSs) are activated sugars that link glucose metabolism with cellular functions via protein N-glycosylation and O-GlcNAcylation. Thus, understanding how different metabolic pathways converge in the synthesis of NSs is critical to explore new opportunities for metabolic interference and modulation of stem cell functions.

The predictive value of the modified early warning score for admission to the intensive care unit in patients with a hematologic malignancy - A multicenter observational study.

Objectives: The modified early warning score (MEWS) is used to detect clinical deterioration of hospitalized patients. We aimed to investigate the predictive value of MEWS and derived quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) scores for intensive care unit admission in patients with a hematologic malignancy admitted to the ward.

Design: Retrospective, observational study in two Dutch university hospitals.

The Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema (HOME) initiative established a core outcome set (COS) for atopic eczema (AE) clinical trials in 2019. This set encompasses four core outcome domains and corresponding measurement instruments: clinical signs (EASI), patient-reported symptoms (POEM and NRS 11 point for worst itch over the last 24 h), quality of life (DLQI/CDLQI/IDQoLI), and long-term control (Recap or ADCT). Following its roadmap, the HOME initiative is now focused on supporting implementation of the COS.

The intralaminar thalamus: a review of its role as a target in functional neurosurgery.

The intralaminar thalamus, in particular the centromedian-parafascicular complex, forms a strategic node between ascending information from the spinal cord and brainstem and forebrain circuitry that involves the cerebral cortex and basal ganglia. A large body of evidence shows that this functionally heterogeneous region regulates information transmission in different cortical circuits, and is involved in a variety of functions, including cognition, arousal, consciousness and processing of pain signals. Not surprisingly, the intralaminar thalamus has been a target area for (radio)surgical ablation and deep brain stimulation (DBS) in different neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Primary urethral carcinomas and adenocarcinomas of the accessory glands are the most relevant tumors, both from the morphologic and clinical point of view. An accurate diagnosis, grading and staging are essential for determining adequate treatment strategies and outcome.
